Bah, if I still had my original templates, I could do the proxy setup...unfortunately I lost them (thank you very much, Yahoo!, for disabling my account! *shakes fist*), otherwise I would volunteer!

Creed's idiocy and lack of reading skills aside, it's what Barone says.

You have my fists and feet at your disposal, good sir.  Let us begin.

This is gonna be great! I haven't been here for awhile...How will we be able to use these "virtual cards"? Will they be printable? For apprentice? Imaginary? or What?

Well, apprentice. and other than that, i bet someone would do like they did for Star Wars, which is put together printable versions. other than that, you would be able to proxy these cards legally.

Once the cards have gone through their appropriate phases, they will be transferred to PDF templates of the original cards and thus you'll be able to print them at a local print shop or at home, if you have the resources.  So yes, you'll be able to hold copies of the cards we're working on, put them into physical decks, etc.

Tenshigure

We've got some pretty talented "card designers" on board (myself included, hehe), so if someone gets them printed professionally, it can look pretty damn authentic (especially since Raw Deal's original printer sucked so bad!).

One of the concerns I've had from the beginning has been in regards to the actual cutting of the cards in question.  Maybe one of you with a bit more experience than I can answer:

I understand that print shops have complicated laser-esque devices, which can be used to evenly cut the cards in question.  How, though, are the uniform rounded corners achieved?  This seems like it would be far more expensive to do on a small scale than it would be worth.

I really do not see the VRD cards being as anal about corner uniformity as it used to be.
I have played both Star Wars and Spellfire after the games been ended, and they are more lenient since there are not huge cash prizes or anything and people are now playing simply for the love of the game.
I have a 2 sets of all the fansets for Spellfire cut more or less identically, but there will always be imperfections. I paid about 25$ total to get them printed in color on decent cardstock. (Having a wife that works at officemax pays off)

Print the card on 8.5x11" paper.
Cut it, put it in a sleeve with a regular card. Use possibly some glue stick to afix it to said chaffy card. Cut the paper to be a little smaller then the card so there's no bleed over.

HXCDisciple

Okay, this might be an odd question, but it's plagued me since this was announced.  I know distribution of these cards is by way of PDF, but is the file going to be the entire set of cards for VRD at once, or a more randomized "booster pack" sort of deal?

As mentioned in my original 'State of the Nation' style post, all cards will be freely accessible to all players.  We're focusing on playing rather than collecting this time around, so all players will be on the same even starting level.

Awe, and here I thought I could "pirate" some VRD cards! :P

Mr.Shrew

so how long till this actually goes down?

Considering it hasn't started the first stage of development - Alpha Testing - the answer is something like 'not for a while'.  And there's currently no projected deadline.

Be patient my good man. this is the first Virtual Set, give it some time for us to get the kinks out. in a couple weeks it should go to Beta Testing and a little while after that it gets the final grammar changes and so forth, so it should be a couple months and then it should be released.

Current plan for the first virtual set is to release around Gencon, so people can demo it at Gencon, and we can "introduce it" like normal.

Is there any time frame for us to actually start working on this?  I have been patiently waiting since our last major update on March 11th, which said we would be starting in approximately 1 week.  I'm not trying to rush things, but without getting regular updates it seems that nothing is happening.  If anyone has any information regarding this, please post it here and calm my nerves.   :)

Thanks!

The delay is partly on my shoulders. There was something I was supposed to get Bryson, but due to CCUC, and then being sick the week following, I'm a week behind, and this is the first day that I don't feel like a zombie.

So my apologies... the original time line for this was to have the cards ready to go for Gencon.

So since we don't have to go through WWE Approvals, or the Printers... we've got crap tones of time.

BrysonYuzyk

It's good timing that you would ask this today.

Mr. Mitchell and I will be speaking on this in a couple of hours, but don't worry so much; Progress is being made.  With any luck you'll have access to the documents within the next 24 hours.

Stay frosty.  Not every deadline is going to be exact; No one's paying us for this, so it has to fall second to responsibilities such as work and school.

Cheers,
Bryson

I want to be perfectly clear on this.  I didn't mean to point any fingers of blame towards anyone regarding the delay in starting this.

With that being said, I do think there's every reason for us to set deadlines for this and to try to keep them.  I realize that things will happen and deadlines will be missed because of it, but I think we should still try to set deadlines for ourselves otherwise nothing will ever get done.

I also realize that we're not getting paid, but we also need to remember that for every week that passes with no new material, we lose more players (or at least we lose out on the opportunity to lure previous players back to the game).

Again, I'm not trying to point any "blame fingers", I just want to stay focused on this and I'm itching to get started.   :)

HXCDisciple

So far, I've heard a completion deadline of Gencon.  That's when we want to have the big premiere bash for this dealie.  Does that help?

Howdy folks,

As of today, word has gone out for the Admin types to give the Alpha Testers access to the forums.

Alpha guys, once you get access, please post a hello post on the board so I know everything's working fine for you.  Once the six (?) of you arrive, I'll stick up the 0.1 and we'll run with it.

Cheers,
Bryson

Just to keep those of you not on the Alpha posted: The documents just went up this evening.  Things are moving along; A bit slower than anticipated, but what can you do.

Cheers,
Bryson
