So I played my first game of Munchkin today... Totally dug it.  I think it's something my wife would love because the game engine is simple enough, except the whole idea of D&D nauseates her (the only thing somewhat dungeon explorer related that she approves of is Gauntlet and SHE HAS TO BE THE VALKYRIE). 

Anyway, since there's a butt ton of gamers on here that have probably played Munchkin, is there a flavor of Munchkin out there that anyone thinks may appeal to my non-gaming wife?

Munchkin Fu. By having styles instead of classes, it not only distances itself from the typical D&D tropes, but it also gives you a chance to improve your effective fighting level from drawing from the Alley (dungeon) deck instead of just treasure. I own Star Munchkin (with the Clown Wars expansion), Munchkin Bites, Munchkin Fu, and Munchkin Cthulhu, and Fu is the most enjoyable and balanced to me, by far.

I have the Star Munchkin version. Everything is a sci fi reference in it (star wars, star trek, firefly, babylon 5)
If she tolerates those any better that could be the version for you.

Super Munchkin is cool. You get to assemble lots of gadgets and powers.

Munchkin Booty is fun.  Nothing like being a pirate.  I think she would dig it.  You could plunder her booty.

I have played many sets of munchkin over the years and I do think that Super Munchkin is pretty good. One advice though is to try to avoid most of the expansion pack; they make the game really hard to teach newcomers + some of them introduce too many new mechanics to the game.

Thank you all for your comments, even the inappropriate ones (I'm looking at you D2). 

Anyway, I've come to the conclusions that since she's as big a Buffy fan as I've ever met and can't get enough currently of Teen Wolf, I'm going to go with Munchkin Bites, pray for the best, and hope this is a gateway drug towards bigger and better.

My gateway drug for my GF was Dc Deck Building game. Only Problem is she never wanted to play anything else.

She likes DC DBG every once in a while because she grew up watching Batman the Animated Series.  We actually own a cel from BtAS that hangs in our living room.

Amazingly enough can't stand Marvel, because we're a DC household and she loves Batman Rogue's Gallery so much. Also generic super heroes are uninteresting to her... Thus Munchkin Bites got the go ahead over Super Munchkin.
