For those of us who follow soccer, racist actions by fans in European soccer has been an issue for some time. This past Thursday, during a match between AC Milan and Pro Patria, Milan midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng (of German and Ghanian descent) had enough, kicking a ball into the stands and walking off the field after taking abuse from Pro Patria fans.

His teammates on AC Milan proceeded to follow him without hesitation, and the club itself has unambiguously supported the players' actions.

The reason this is a problem is because UEFA wants to pretend it isn't an issue, which only encourages the racist idiots. Denials abound and officials aren't doing anything. For the first time, a major club (one of the most visible in the world) has taken a firm stand and said this isn't acceptable and that they will not tolerate it.

Other clubs should follow Milan's lead when this happens. Maybe then UEFA would get off their asses and do something.
