Hello All

Had a game for old times sake this weekend and enjoyed it again.  there seems to be a bucket load of new card for the extension to the original raw deal in the other forum (Virtual Raw Deal) plus I dont have many of my old cards so NRD seems like a great idea.

A couple of Q's?

  • Are there any planned updates in the near / far future?
  • http://www.mewshroom.com/nrd/ - this doesnt seem to have the tourney kit which i also noticed (but is now down as was mega upload) is there anyway to get this?
  • Is there a beginners guide to printing the pdf's?

Thanks guys.

Hi Kaiten.

Are you able to upload the tourney kit files?  Are you playing NRD and what is it like?

kaiten619

NRD feels great. its more like the original raw deal but more innovative imo. like there is so many ways to build decks. i won't be able to upload files

Hi Paul,

1) The NRD project, sadly, appears to have come to an end.  Though some people like it, there is just insufficient interest for me to continue spending the many, many hours it takes to produce more cards.  As such, I would expect there won't be any more updates in the future.  Sorry.

2) I'm not sure why the TK cards aren't on the site.  If I remember I'll put them on there in future, but no promises.

3) How you print the PDFs is up to you.  I took them to Staples and asked them to print on 12pt cardstock in vivid color, which came pretty close to the old style of cards (minus the rounded corners).  There's lots of ways you can do it though, and I suggest you flip through the NRD forums and see discussions people have done in the past.

I still check back periodically to answer questions and help people, so if you have anything else you'd like to know, please post it and I'm sure I'll get around to it eventually.

Cheers,
Bryson

If there were a lackey patch i would like to play but it's hard to do it in person

Hit me up on Lackey if you wanna play some MANIA ERA!!!

CreedP

I could probably make a Lackey patch for New Raw Deal.  If Bryson wants to send over the card images, we could do it up right.  :)

Cards are printed!!!

Trying it this weekend. Quick question to start. How many style backstage area cards can you pack and do you just reveal them at the start when you reveal your superstar card?

If anyone has a word doc with rules on it then please let me know / email me.

CreedP

I believe - and its been quite some time, so I could be mistaken, but - I know you pack 2.  But I believe you don't have to reveal them until you have a card that requires you to have that Style card.  In other words, if you play a card that says you must have Brawler, then you have to reveal Brawler.  But if you want to use the effects of the Style cards, obviously you'll need to reveal 'em.

Cramping Your Style
Pre-match Event
When this card is in your Ring, your opponent does not flip any Style cards when his Styled cards are public knowledge and when your opponent plays a Styled card or reverses on the overturn with a Styled card, he turns his Style cards face-down.
When this card is in your Ring, your opponent must discard 2 cards to flip a non-Superstore Specific Style face-up.
F: 0     D: 0

The basic principle of Style cards is that they are hidden until either (1) You voluntarily reveal them, or (2) Are forced to reveal them.

(1) happens when, at any point you have the opportunity to play a card, you choose to voluntarily reveal one (or both) Style cards.

This means during the Pre-match, or the Match, whenever you would normally have the opportunity to play a card, you can reveal your Style cards.

The second paragraph on "Cramping Your Style" refers to this.  Whereas normally, it's a free action to voluntarily flip a Style card, it now costs you a discard of 2 cards.

(2) happens when, at any point, any of your Styled cards (cards which require a Style to pack) become known to your opponent.  IE. you play one, one appears in your discard pile, your opponent sees one in your hand, etc.

Unlike (1), which is voluntary, (2) is forced.  In short, if your opponent ever sees that you're packing a Styled card, you are forced to reveal the appropriate Style card to show that your deck is legal.

The first paragraph on "Cramping Your Style" refers to this.

"When this card is in your Ring, your opponent does not flip any Style cards when his Styled cards are public knowledge and when your opponent plays a Styled card or reverses on the overturn with a Styled card, he turns his Style cards face-down."

The first half of this removes the forced requirement of flipping your Style cards.

The second half of this is something completely new.  Nothing in the core rules refers to flipping cards face-down, either forced or voluntary.

This is sort of the reverse of the normal Style reveal rules.  If your opponent plays a Styled card, or reverses on the overturn with a Styled card, he turns his revealed Style cards face-down.

Does that clear everything up?

Cheers,
Bryson

So, essentially, it makes keeping Styles face-up a monumental pain, since as soon as you throw a Styled card or use one on the spin (which is not voluntary), you have to turn your Styles all back down and it costs you two cards each to bring them back.
