A V-card for the Champion like we used to.

But I thought... Wait, what?

Edit: Sorry, do you mean the champion ought to make a Virtual-card? Because they do, or were you referring to something else?

I actually don't know if we still do nor have i been monitoring this thread. I just kind of spewed that out.

Virtual 5 includes the 2010 and 2011 World Champions' cards. The 2009 champion's card, Allentown, Pennsylvania, was in Virtual 3 and the 2008 champion's card, Don't Be "That" Guy, was in Virtual 1.

If worlds were held in Michigan that would make me be able to attend. The drive to Indy plus hotel costs is prohibitive to me.

My drive from Jersey is much longer (esp. this year...oi  :o )

But the good thing about driving....you get a hotel 10-15 miles away....the whole thing costs under $400, how much better a vacation can you ask for ?? :)

I like the idea of leaving Sunday for some other things too.....and if World's is gonna be a free for all....why not the side events beforehand, make them for a first round bye?? Even if you win one, you want to block others from winning one so it motivates you to keep playing too....
Thanks to the much hated Revolution Format and Roman Reigns' spear I beat three other folks to be your current Raw Deal Champion and the "most irrelevant one in history" ...yay me :)

I've quoted some other items from the GC2012 thread and I thought I'd put them in here.

I like the idea that we do an open world championship on friday. 3 rounds, Virtual all axxess, Virtual Classic, Virtual Revo then the cut to top whatever.

I personally don't think a World Championship should be decided in 3 rounds of Swiss. I think the best compromise is 6 rounds, 2 rounds of each format: Virtual AA, Virtual Classic, and Virtual Revo. And for those that think Virtual AA is hard to catch up on, ZSlash made the cut in the Virtual All Axxess tournament without any Rev cards with The Ultimate Warrior, and I'm 100% sure he'd have beat me in the Semis if he had just put in a couple of Momentum reversals and/or Carlito Says, "Today's The Day."  The reason I think Worlds should be decided in 6 rounds of Swiss is that if we cut to 3 formats, 3 rounds seems woefully inadequate for Skill and Deck-Building to prevail over Dumb Luck and Bad Matchups in a World Championships. It is a World Championships, and YES it is a grind to play 6 rounds, which may be too much admittedly, but with 2 Virtual Revo rounds, the rounds will still go QUICK and it's still better than 2007 when 16 players played 8 rounds to cut to top 4, which is insane. My 2cents for whatever its worth.

Hmm I kinda see both sides of the coin, yes it could be nice for some to wrap up all their raw deal games in a day and have a open world tournament but it does seem kinda less prestigious if just anyone can flop down in a chair and say "I'm playing in the world championship!" but with that being said maybe we'd get more players in the tournament like that which I'm all for.

Ideally Raw Deal players should see the World Championship as something to aspire to, but the truth of the matter is, we don't have enough players coming to Gen Con to exclude. We want people willing to make the trek out to Gen Con to play Raw Deal & vie for the World Championships. If we ever get to the point where we have 40+ people coming to every qualifier, then we can worry excluding people who don't qualify. Otherwise, at this point in the game, we should all be for getting more players to trek out to Gen Con for Raw Deal, and if we have to make concessions to the wishes of the players who are on the fence about going, so be it. We should be removing roadblocks so that people will want to come out and play and I'm seeing a lot of good points brought up towards that: tournaments need to start on time to accomodate people going to GenCon that aren't just playing Raw Deal, 5 decks is too many for the casual gamer to build, Sunday is a bad day for Raw Deal World Championships, BIGGER PRIZE support etc (though what people don't know is almost all Worlds prize support is acquired by RDPC members to be given away at Worlds).

Full disclosure, we understand this game is amazing and we all love it. And despite the supposed deathknell of CI stopping production 5 years ago, the players decided the game should go on, and we, the players, the RDPC, all of us on TCO, have kept it going. But to some of us, Raw Deal is more than just a game: it's the people we've met, relationships we've cultivated over the years, all the good times of opening boosters hoping for hotpacks, those amazing game memories like reversing Chair Shot with Van Daminator, getting 5 Small Packages in your ring, etc. For some of us, meeting up, rekindling old friendships, and just playing at Gen Con is enough of an incentive to go. For others, well, let's keep asking and work to accomodate them so they can create new memories to go with their other great memories of this game.
