First, thank you for not only the new superstars, but all the work that has gone into creating NRD, and (recently) maintaining it.  I have passed the link to this forum to a couple of friends of mine, and I plan on getting all of the cards printed so that a number of us can start playing.  I have a few questions for the powers that be:

1. What are the future plans for NRD?
2. Not being familiar with Classic Raw Deal and how the sets were shaped up, are there enough Non-Superstar Specific cards to begin giving additional Superstar Specific to the current group of 42?
3a. Any chance we will see some of the "current class" of superstars for NRD like has been done with the Virtual RD (Bryan, Sheamus, Ryder)
3b. I know there hasn't been playtesting between the Virtual Raw deal and New Raw Deal stuff, is there any reason that the Superstars and Specifics couldn't be also used in NRD?

Thanks!  My friends and I are definitely looking forward to marking out on all this stuff.

As far as NRD and VRD cross-overs, I'd say that importing NRD Superstars/specifics into Raw Deal would go a lot smoother than trying to take Virtual guys and run them in NRD. They're not at the same power level, Bryson is starting fresh and therefore gets to set the general feel and power of the sets at a particular place. Since the Virtual sets are building onto classic Raw Deal, they have to contend with power creep. I'd imagine that the virtual guys would blow out the NRD guys, for that reason.

Your kind words are appreciated.  Let's see here...

1) That all depends on people's interest.  Can you be more specific what you're asking?

2) Next set you'll probably see some Superstar Specifics for existing characters, but I'd prefer to let the environment percolate for a bit before I make any decisions on that front.  If it turns out that a large percentage of new characters outclass a large percentage of old characters, I'll be more inclined to print material to even out the playing field.

What you'd probably see is a 72 card set containing 43 Superstar Specifics and 29 non-Superstar Specifics.

3a) From around NRD1 to around NRD2-2, people only seemed to be interested in characters that already existed in RDC or Legend superstars.  I'm not sure if this was as a result of WWE being stale for a few years, but there just wasn't any call for newer superstars.  Now that I'm getting more and more requests for modern characters, I suspect that the next batch would be mostly, if not entirely modern.

3b) Daeva hit it right on the head, as usual.  VRD characters need to match up in viability with a long-established powerful base of cards and characters.  My goal with NRD was to clear the playing field after the debacles that were No Way Out and Great American Bash.  I suspect if you were to try to include VRD characters, you'd quickly find that they outclass their NRD counterparts.

Cheers,
Bryson

Excellent.  Thanks to both of you for your great responses.

Follow up to #1, I think you answered this pretty well with #2.  I was pretty much asking what do you see as the next steps for NRD; what are some things that we can expect to see in the future.  Do you have any timeframes which you would like to produce things by?

3a.  I think you've nailed this answer right on the head.  Personally, I feel over the past year with the newer talent getting pushed (Bryan, Punk, Ryder, Ziggler, etc.) WWE has started getting better and less stagnant.  Look forward to the next batch of superstars.

3b. In case anyone asks why can't this be done, I'll have an answer that is completely understandable.  Thanks!

My goal was to release a small set every summer and winter, and to make each card in those sets viable.  I spent a lot of time on NRD2-3 and NRD2-4, so I ended up skipping a set in there.  There'll be at least one more set in 2012, although if there's sufficient interest I'm sure I could put together two.  We'll see.

I am excited to see that work has continued on NRD. I was just talking about this game the other day with a friend when we decided we might blow the dust off of our old cards. In the process I got to thinking about NRD, which lead me back here. It feels like it's been a lifetime since I've been here on this forum, yet I still remember excitedly working on several NRD projects of my own. I miss those days of toiling around programming with a stack of cards in front of me. Just possibly enough to start working on something in my free time...

Bryson, get back to me on that PM I sent you. I'd like to look further into this future that NRD holds.
