Virtual Raw Deal / Re: Steve Blackman?
June 03, 2022, 08:26:24 PM
Quote from: The Kisser on June 03, 2022, 07:51:27 PMOn his Superstar Card it says he can pack Series of Kicks n also it says something about Educated on his cards but I was looking and realizing that the Original Series Of Kick & Educated Hands were Tajiri Superstar Specifics so how can Steve Blackman pack them Original Cards as ya might need to add the text they Gain Steve Blackman's Logos.
So my ? how can he pack the OGz of them when they are Tajiri's SSpecifics?

Let's begin by making sure we're all on the same page:
QuoteSteve Blackman
Starting Hand Size: 6     Superstar Value: 1
Superstar Ability: Your "Chop", "Kick", and "Kendo" maneuvers are considered to have "Dynamic" in the title for your effects. Your "Dynamic" maneuvers are considered to have "Chop" and "Kick" in the title for your effects.
You can pack His Hands and Feet Are Lethal Weapons, Educated Hands (it is Unique), and Series of Kicks as if they are not Smackdown. You cannot pack The House That Hardcore Built.

So this may be me being kinda half-out of the game for a while, but I cannot remember the name of the rule; but, if a Superstar Ability (or any card, really) grants you the ability to pack cards you couldn't otherwise pack, you can pack it.
It's the reason, for example, People's Champ can pack The Rock cards.  The People's Champ doesn't have The Rock's logo, but the ability has a line that says "You can pack The Rock specific cards,..." so they can.
Furthermore, because it's a packing rule, even if the ability gets blanked, they're already legally packed at the start of the game so you're still fine.

Steve Blackman says you can pack those three specific cards (and you can pack them as if they are not Smackdown, but that's a different conversation); the same rule applies and the ability overrides the printed rule.  Blackman can pack them.

The short rule:  If an ability says you can pack a card, you can pack it even if you normally couldn't.

I was waiting to see when this was going to happen.

So $300 - $35 = $265 left to pay to keep TCO up; my math is correct, good sir?

To the Community at large:
People, this is Tax Return season.  If you have gotten any fun from the TCO community, you can send a few bucks to keep this going.  It would be nice to get past next renewal, but I'm keeping my expectations in line.

I'll be messaging you in a few days, when I call my bank about a few things.   ;)

Hey guys, I've been away from Raw Deal scenes for few years now, i wanna try getting back on Lackey, however i can't download the Raw Deal files/folder. Can please assist me. anyone of you guys still actively play on Lackey?

I think the entire player base has moved over to OCTGN at this point.
There should be instructions on how to download and use it in Raw Deal Online category.

Let's put Precision Personified up just so we're all on the same page (mostly for new people):

Quote
70/172
Precision Personified
Mid-match Action
Search your Arsenal for 1 card with the word "precision" in the title, reveal it to your opponent, put it into your hand, and shuffle your Arsenal.
Fan Favorite Logo
F: 0      D: 0

Short Answer:  Yes

Long Answer:  Precision Personified looks to see if the card searched for has "Precision" in the title.  It's Summer Time forces "Precision" on the name of Summer Rae-specific maneuvers, "Kick," "Leg," "Snap," and "Spin" maneuvers.  This make it, effectively, "Precision Pump Kick" in name, so it becomes a legal search.

Champ, respectfully, Supershow is a game that uses bury as a keyword for putting a card under (the arsenal/the deck/another card or location). Not the only, not even the originator. I've been using the term in card games since before Supershow existed. And I know it's in the rule book, I edited that rule book. I was involved back then, too. No disrespect intended to SRG or any other card game company, we're just trying to make our free to play fantasy cards a little easier to read.

The reason we wouldn't say "I'm gonna tap Wrestlemania" is because Hasbro owns a trademark on the term tap in card games, and getting sued is nobody's idea of a good time. That's why nobody else uses that one.

To go further, I remember these terms being used back in 1999 in the Pokemon TCG at a competitive level, and Yu-Gi-Oh! when it came West as well.

I mean, if John wants to be THAT GUY, Dilbert, let him; you, myself, and the rest of us can ignore him if he wants to compare Raw Deal to another game.  I don't go out and brag about things Pokemon has done before anyone else because it's COMPLETELY IRREVERENT to this game; Raw Deal has been consolidating things even back in the CI days, this isn't new.

Another Official Update:  Housing opens on June 6 (19 days from now).

For the RD community that are or want to go, I have two things to check in with you from this:
1.  Is there anyone that WOULD go but needs a place to crash?  This may be a place to start talking with each other on roommates and travel accommodations.
2.  Should those of us that are going potentially have "demo decks" with us so we can teach others the game; decks that we could even give people?  Making a huge assumption here, but I'm assuming that if you're going this year, you probably have other things and communities beyond Raw Deal; maybe we should bring them into this chaotic world.

SS3 has the MRP of the card:

#397/643 Lita Superstar Card (SS2) (RUMBLE PACK FOIL - Lita logo)
Starting Hand Size: 7
Superstar Value: 2
Superstar Ability:
You cannot pack Grapple maneuvers of 4D or greater. Your cards titled Drop Kick are F:0. Once during each of your turns, you may discard 1 card and search your Arsenal for 1 card with the words "dropkick" or "drop kick" in the title, reveal it to your opponent, put it into your hand, and shuffle your Arsenal. When your Fortitude Rating is greater than his Fortitude Rating, your maneuvers are -5F.

The part I underlined is the key.

Long story short:  yes.

UPDATE!!!!

Badge Registration opens on Sunday, May 23, at NOON EST (9 PST).
There is capped attendance for 2021, so if you don't have a a badge from it being rolled over from 2020, I'd have your clock set to go when it goes live.

On an aside from the "information" updates; it's looking like no "official" Raw Deal presence will happen this year; can anyone confirm this?  I have ideas that I don't want to blow if nothing is happening.

General Chat / Gen Con 2021
March 17, 2021, 04:02:53 PM
I got the email about two hours ago from Gen Con, but they have officially moved the dates of the show from Early August to September 16-19.  https://www.gencon.com/ is also showing it.

I don't know what this will mean for Raw Deal at the event, I know many of the people on here have families and kids (and that means school).

I'll leave this up here for people to talk about.

1:Cracking the Cryptic. Who knew that the most relaxing thing I could do this year was watch two soft-spoken British men work through Sudoku puzzles? I was interested in puzzles to begin with, to be sure, but once I found the channel, I got into Sudoku in a much bigger way. It's kind of the perfect way to dissociate from anything stressful; all you have to do is look for the next logical piece of information to help you solve the puzzle. At the beginning of the year, I had no idea this channel existed. As of 12/31, I own 6 of their Sudoku apps, have backed their Kickstarter, and am considering joining the Patreon, too, and it's all money well spent.

Before I get into mine, I wanted to say that I'm glad I'm not the only man of culture and taste on TCO.

With that, I'm going into what my 2020 was:
1.  Work.  I work in distribution for a major Fortune 500 company (Dollar General, specifically); and when the Toilet Paper and Paper Towel shortages began around mid-February, I not only got busy at work, but I also stepped up in a major way.  It ended up taking a lot of my time, but I have been specifically pointed out for helping get things sorted out by the big bosses.

2.  Investments.  Between the "stimulus" and all the extra Overtime (plus, no Conventions to go to, or London which I'll get into later), I was able to start getting into investing.  It's actually interesting to get into this, plus it gives me something that I can eventually pull from if I leave my primary employer.

3.  Martial Arts.  I know I'm going to be getting a lot of people yelling at me for having the balls to have human interaction; but it's been the only consistent thing I ever had in my life and I consider more of these people family than some of my actual family.  With that, I got involved in helping one of our guys on his third book in the Aiki Secrets series and I started putting notes down for a project I've had going on in my mind for a few years now.  Plus, I also made new friends (and got to roll with a THIRD member of the Gracie family).

4.  Pokemon.  To be fair, this was also in late 2018 and 2019, but friends I made in the PTCG and GO communities ended up also becoming close friends as well.  Granted, their Worlds in London got canceled in 2020 (and with the U.K. looking more and more like they're going to lock people into homes and not allow them to do anything indefinitely, 2021 seems unlikely), but the entire community has rallied together and I'm glad to be a part of it.

That's correct. Lacey gets to do everything on the card against anyone who is a Superstar.

Can I disagree?  Let me explain.

Quote from: dilbert505 on December 25, 2019, 09:11:22 PM

LACEY EVANS
Starting Hand Size: 5     Superstar Value: 1
Superstar Ability: You may pack cards as if you are a Diva, but you do not count as a Diva. Your cards with 'diva', 'woman' or 'female' in the text or title are considered to have 'lady' in the title. During each of your turns, you may overturn 2 cards to put 1 card with 'lady' in the title removed from the game into your hand.

Everyone Wants to Watch Women Wrestle
Action
Can only be packed by a Female Superstar.
When your opponent is a Male Superstar, search his Arsenal for 3 non-unique Maneuver cards, remove them from the game, and he shuffles his Arsenal.
When your opponent is a Female Superstar, this card is -1F, discard this card and your opponent discards 1 card.
Raw logo
F: 1      D: 0

Everyone Wants to Watch Women, Period
Action
Can only be packed by a Female Superstar.
When your opponent is a Male Superstar, he discards 3 cards.
When your opponent is a Female Superstar, this card is -1F, discard this card and draw 1 card.
SmackDown! logo
F: 1      D: 0

I don't want to be pedantic (ok, I do; I like to), however, my understanding is that "woman" and "women" are not the same word.
If it was intended to interact that way, an emergency errata may be needed.

Unfortunately, it's about that time again.  Renewal for the hosting company where this website lives will be at the end of November, and thankfully the prices listed in the first post are still the same.

There's a bit in the renewal fund already, but only about $50 so we still have a way to go.  Unfortunately, my funds are rather limited this time around (summer beats up my budget, living in the desert with high electric bills) so I won't have a lot available to cover the difference if we want to keep TCO alive.  But they're offering a 3-month renewal, so we have two options:

1) Donations get us to the 1-year mark and we renew in November.
2) We can renew for 3-months, and revisit this after the holidays in 2020.

Let me know what you guys think, it'd be great to keep TCO alive if we can!

CREED

If my math is correct (assuming you have $50 even in the lockbox), that put you at $55 needed to get to 2020?

PM me with specific numbers on what's going on.

Let us also not forget the other Ultimate Warrior type:

Quote
Parts Unknown
Pre-match Venue
Your Starting Hand Size is +3, and your opponent's Starting Hand Size is +2.
When you successfully play a card with blank text, draw up to 1 card.
When you are the Ultimate Warrior and Back to Basics is not in your Ring, you may not play Corners or Run-ins, this card does not increase your opponent's Starting Hand Size, and once during each of your turns you may search your Arsenal for a Superstar-specific maneuver, reveal it, put it in your hand, and shuffle your Arsenal.
F: 0     D: 0     Universally Active     Permanent

I underlined the import part.  This is a searchable card with Parts Unknown, so you can use it and pick your opportunity (like knowing they have nothing to stop it) then just search for it (NOT an ACE, by the way) and get yourself a massive draw, a massive recover, or a combination thereof.

Myself, Pat Mulligan, and John P all need to have a word with you.

Soon.

Since she's not a Diva, it might be worth investing some of her slots for the "Era of the Superstar" suite.

Also, where's the DLBs?

Mancer is also damn good.

Fully agreed. What really strikes me about Ol' Mancer is his promo ability. He's only been wrestling for three years but cuts an awesome promo.

On another note, MLW now has a new timeslot. 9 PM Saturday on beIN, with it going up on YouTube at 12 PM Sunday. beIN wants to do more live shows, and Saturday is their typical show day. Plus, it's been getting dynamite ratings for beIN, and giving them that timeslot will help.

Worth noting Mancer was trained by the same trainer as Ruby Riott. The legendary King of Indiana Billy Roc! Both of which were trained in my home town of Lafayette, Indiana. The school name is The School of Roc.

If only I could tell the stories of Mancer and Jock Samson (#DukeMoney) on here; but neither the police nor the moderators of this site would allow me to.
Let's just say if Mancer is in town and you want to have a good time, find him after the show (usually at the bar) and don't plan to sleep until after the sun rises.

He's good people.

This OG version, though, would be a great card to stick a Marty Scurll Zack Sabre Jr. logo on.

I fixed your mistake, sir.  Thank me later.

As for the Elbow Drop comment, I see him and B2B & No Escape look like serious options (3 different Suplex cards, Backhand Slap, Wrist Lock, Elbow Drop) for him.
Yea, maybe clarifying Elbow Drop may help out a lot.

Looks like those matches with Okada and Tanahashi that were being hyped won't happen.

Shame, too.

Also, I'm a little surprised no one asked about Neville having a 'Cruiserweight Superstar Ability'.  That's probably because he's the first to have that trait (we might add it to existing Superstars later, on a case-by-case basis through support).
CREED

If you're JUST looking at 205 Live, the only guy made (and because of contracts and all the stuff everyone knows about, see about <R> Filling in the Blanks) thus far that might become a Cruiserweight later is Sin Cara.
Of course, if we go to the old Cruiserweight division (and Light-Heavyweight before that), then that becomes a giant bag of worms to deal with....

Maybe Cruiserweight should only apply to the modern division.

It look for the three letters "A", "R", & "M" next to each other in the text.

Even a card like Forearm Shot counts.

So it's not a multi unless it meets one of the three qualifiers (as a counter, after TitCT, after a Chain maneuver)?

You might want to remove the "multi" underneath the American Alpha logo before final release.

You're Welcome.  ;)
