Virtual Raw Deal / King of the Ring online Virtual Classic tournament
« on: April 16, 2021, 10:32:17 PM »
@Raw Dealer After much discussion with @Azarith_Stryffe we are finally ready to announce our next tournament, The King of the Ring!
Registration will take place starting now until Saturday May 8th at midnight EST. We will be requiring deck lists for this and will be using the diversity rule. Please sound off interest in this thread or the accompanying TCO thread. Once ready, please PM your decklists to @dilbert719 prior to the end of registration. We will be verifying decks are legal, and will let you know if changes need to be made prior. Since this is an online tournament and there will be something at stake (we will get to that shortly) we will also be doing a some number of random deck checks via spectator mode on OCTGN. If a deck is found to be different than the decklist sent during registration, this will result in disqualification from the event.

Prizing will be included for this event! We debated a bit as to what to put up for a prize and we eventually came down to this. 1st place will be offered a choice of an undisclosed Backstage Signature card or the choice to have their deck immortalized in foil through Make Playing Cards!
Swiss Rounds will be 1 week long to accommodate our players in different time zones and pairings will be posted Wednesdays starting  May 12th. Please post results in the online-tournament discord thread with each players fortitude values and whether a victory was achieved by Pinfall or Countout. Pinfalls will be worth 3 points and Countouts will be worth 2 points and a Loss will be worth 0 match points. If results are not posted prior to Monday at midnight EST both players will receive a loss unless documentation is provided to show an attempt was made to play the match. We will be reviewing these on a case by case basis. Please title your OCTGN games as King of the Ring Round X Player name vs. Player name, so we are easily able to find your matches. Unless stated otherwise by your opponent, all Backstage Shenanigans cards are considered to be revealed.

Depending on the number of players we will be doing a top cut to either top 8 or top 4 and we would like to record all of these matches, if possible. So once the players have agreed upon a time to play, please let myself or @Azarith_Stryffe know so coordinate recording.

Any changes that would need to be made will be posted in this discord channel and on the TCO thread. Please have fun and I look forward to seeing some awesome decks in the ring.

Classic Raw Deal / Tournament Software

Does anyone still have access to whatever tournament software was used for Raw Deal? I'm just curious how it was set up to do pairings with diversity rule. Thanks.

Thanks Antigoth,

So my friends and I have been using this website (http://twoheadeddragon.com/ufs/index.html) and it has a filter on it that says Block March 2009 Rotation, but you say in April a new rotation is coming? That is annoying lol. Well im gonna PM you a list of what probably is an awful list of a Hugo deck but who knows look forward to surfing the site again.

So um ya, some friends of mine are looking to play UFS with Block Format, we have a little confusion about whether you can still play any face card, if someone could clear that up for me that would be great. Also what are your guys generic thoughts on Block Format, is control Viable seems like its not, I'm really liking the Hugo.... card but he seems like he can just get killed idk, I'm rambling. Just tell me whats decent whats not and I'll be ok.

Your friendly neighborhood Umaga,

Yes I received it. I talked with Bryson about it and agreed but now I do not see where I can find these documents and forums.

Although Beta testers will be given access to the documents and forums at this time, if you plan on playtesting immediately you're going to have to make your own proxies.  Going to Beta a week or two earlier than expected means that we don't have the formal PDF proxies ready, so you'll have to be creative.

Where are these documents and forums?

Hey all though I have been pretty silent since the announcement of the end of Raw Deal I have decided that I miss this game a lot and would like to help with playtest/design for the future upcoming set. Some ideas I have were to follow up on Bryson's idea of superstar characteristics like "Brawler" and "High Flyer" by making cards that would require you to be a "brawler" to increase deck building strategy even more. This would require giving old superstars 1-2 of these characteristics. PM me or IM me if you want to talk future RD.

ya i played a max 10d wilson fisk legitimate, 14d, 18d, and 19d, pen is mighter but  headline reversals on the overturn work too. Not only that I also played Hired Hit into Bruce Banner shuffling about 25, played all 3 little help here, WF:legitimate shuffled 10 and I had manipulates to get some of the reversals out of his deck but there were just too many. And every turn he would draw his 1 card (he had no cards in hand also), discard it get an energy attack, discard it to shuffle 2 use his dart and pass.

13
I don't think he is unbeatable, but it is highly unlikely. There are only 2 cards in the game that can deal with superpowers already in play. One being magneto specific and the other secret wars specific. Bugle goes and grabs I AM IRONMAN which being a unique headline+headline combo is quite hard to stop and only unique cards being able to reverse a superpower played from hand my guess is that 9/10 you will have both superpowers in play by the end of your first turn. Whether it be stopping the shuffling of uniques or energy cards he needs something to fix him because he is definitely the best deck out there, especially with the ability of poison dart to do all the work for you.

14
I think the solution is just change it so he cant shuffle in energy attacks with the 2nd superpower.

Secret Wars - Virtual CCG / Re: How much do u like Secret Wars?
« on: November 24, 2007, 05:57:02 PM »
The game engine is great flows well in the few games ive played on apprentice. The only thing that could be better is getting it actually made which most likely even though it upsets me to say that it wont use marvel characters. I would most likely play this game even if it wasnt based on marvel tho thats how much i like the engine

« on: November 15, 2007, 02:31:53 AM »
Juggernaut needs to be made period heres what I came up with feel free to comment. All cards are unique with the Juggernaut logo

Juggernaut
(Brotherhood)
1E 6F 10S 1I

Unstoppable Force 10
Superpower
Once during each of your turns, after an opponent counters one of your attacks, you may overturn 3 cards and continue your turn.

Impervious Stamina 5
Superpower
During your opponent's turn, if you have at least 1 un-used Strength Attribute, you may use all of your Strength Attributes, to counter any card that deals damage or forces you to overturn cards. Your opponent continues his turn.

Helmet of the Juggernaut 5
Object
At the end each of your turns un-use 1 Strength Attribute if you dealt damage to your opponent.

"You Cannot Harm Me" 6S
Headline
During your opponent's next 2 turns your opponent's attacks deal 0 damage.
Damage:0

I'm the Goddamn Juggernaut, female dog! 0 (ya i know the name would never get made but who cares)
Headline+Headline Combo
If your next card played is a successful attack, before applying damage search your opponent's deck for up to 2 non-unique applicable counters to that attack and remove them from the game.
Damage:0

Pimp Smack your Ass! 8S 5F (Again feel free to change the name)
Attack:Strength+Strength+Strength Combo
Damage:10

Immovable Being 16
Counter:Special
Counter any non Energy, non Unique attack.
Discard 3 cards.
If the card, Unstoppable Force is in Headquarters, your opponent removes his hand from the game.
Damage:0

Juggernaut Squeeze 7S
Attack:Strength
Choose 1 Attribute Types. The do not un-use during your opponent's next turn
D:11

Before this gets locked, I'd like to agree with Yokozuma. I myself, even while watching tournament games, will point out required things. Examples like no way out tb and players forgetting to draw card for start of turn. But no one, especially the TO, should say anything about optional effects. Nothing, period. Whether boyfromsinga would have remembered or not to use Andre's ability, the TO is definitely in the wrong here not boyfromsinga though I can understand Rumi's frustration.

Not to be negative but the only superstar who could ever reverse that from his backlash deck is Matt Striker with the cards that exist right now.

you can choose the order for the cards to go on the bottom of your deck so you do need only one 1 wallop.. but the deck is better than you guys think.

Im pretty sure that since all of the Ive trained all my life for this day will all activate at the same time since they are not optional so the first time you get pinned you would just shuffle 12... sorry to hurt the deck feel free to confirm tho.

For a 15f follow up maneuver I figured the 6 extra points is what made the card good. But if thats the card your complaining about I'm happy.
