Another interesting fact is that the Eagles won't face the Browns this season. It's maybe another reason Vick signed with them  ::)

I was going to say that too, but not because of the "Dawg Pound" reasons, but rather because I am sure that at least one Brown's fan would have pelted him with a beer bottle. In my opinion, dog fighting is never okay, especially if you are one of the highest paid NFL players and a role model to millions. I know that he has worked to redeem himself to the public, but I was still expecting something more from Goodell. Kind of sad when this guy earns millions while other law-abiding people barely scrape by. Here's to his first play being a sack or INT.

After allowing this news to sink in......I threw up. Literally.

I'm taking a break from the NFL for the next season at least. I shouldn't care this much over it, and yet I got physically ill over this news. If that's the case, then I should take a break from it just to put things in their proper perspective. It's the NFL. It shouldn't mean a damn thing in my life other than a diversion on Sundays in the fall and winter.

Is it really that big of a deal that Michael Vick got signed?

Yes, he did a horrible thing, but he served his time for his crime, and now he has a chance to somewhat reclaim his livelihood.

It's not like he's been going out and shooting people, himself, raping people, or doing drugs. He made a stupid mistake and is trying to redeem himself.

I hope he takes good advantage of the situation he's given.

I agreed......until my parents bought themselves a dog to keep them company since both my sister and I are living on our own and they have an empty nest.

Seeing what the dog means to them, it's made Vick's actions more despicable to me. So my view is probably slanted due to that.

Well, I don't like dogs, (of course I don't condone cruelty to any kind of animal) but still, if it had been a catfighting ring, I'd likely feel the same way.

Hmm... a catfighting ring. Anyone wanna go partners? :)

That wouldn't work at all. If they know you wanted them to fight, they'd sniff disdainfully and take a nap, rather than actually do as you wished.  :P

Was that ever confirmed? I know on past seasons of "The Ultimate Fighter" that competitors with Herpes were removed from competition due to the possibility of it spreading from fluid exchange (blood and sweat) and contact in the octagon during a fight. I would assume that the NFL has a similar policy to protect it's players.

Personally, I don't think he has earned the right to play in the NFL yet, and may potentially never in my opinion. I've seen other sites where people are defending Vick by using the punishment brought against Dante Stallworth. I believe in forgiveness and redemption, but it has to be earned. Neither of these guys have done that yet if you ask me. However, celebrities rarely face the same justice as the average man, example OJ Simpson. I think I am going to stop now before I make this more of a rant.

What average man isn't allowed to go back to their job after they pay their debt to society? Sure they can get fired, but they should be allowed to continue to work. Being a professional football player is a job just like any other job.

People in PETA should stop being lazy and get a real job.

As I have said before, I am not one to argue online. My issue is that I don't believe that he has repaid his debt. As I said, I believe in forgiveness and redemption. I just believe that Vick hasn't earned the right to return to the NFL. Secondly, a professional athlete is in no way just like any other job. Athletes are heralded as role models for countless youths and should act accordingly. In my opinion, if any athlete cannot handle that responsibility, they have no right to the job. One would think that being paid millions to do what you love on an international stage would be enough of a reason to fly right and obey the law. If Vick, or anyone else, was stupid enough to jeopardize that job, they deserve to be banned for life from doing it again.

I guess we'll agree to disagree then (although I hate that saying).

The eagles do play the falcons in ATL though. Could be interesting. You think they'd cheer or boo him?

Average men do get second chances after paying their debt's, but they don't get that chance with the same company they worked for before. Athletes do get special treatment in society.
