San Francisco Giants
« on: June 27, 2009, 10:19:21 AM »
Is anybody noticing that midway through the season the Giants currently are holding the wild card spot? The National media hasn't noticed. Although everybody knows they have pitching, their best hitter has been Pablo Sandoval (who?). Now I may be a slight homer, and I know it's still early, but can they sustain this level? What if they pick up a trade deadline bat like a Matt Holliday?
Looking back at our preseason picks, I gave them an honorable mention as improving, but only the good Dr Barone said they'd make the playoffs. Boy did we possibly blow it.

AND they're interested in Roy Halladay. Can you imagine Doc-Lincecum-Cain-Johnson-Zito? I'd rather eat cow crap than face that rotation. 4 Cy Young winners and Matt Cain with filthy stuff.

As good as Halladay is, they really need a big bat. Matt Holliday would be a better fit than Halladay. You say tomatoe, I say tomato.

I'm not that big on Matt Holliday. His numbers were inflated because he played in Colorado for 81 games a season. They certainly do need a bat, but they have the farm system to go after both Doc and a slugger.

The Giants farm pitchers are ready. Sadowski is already up, Bumgarner is next and will be as good as Lincecum. Halladay is not a big enough need to give that up. In a three man playoff rotation Lincecum, Cain, Sadowski/Zito is plenty good enough.

I'm personally hoping my Phillies grab Halladay. If we get him and Hamels becomes what he was last year, we'd be more than capable of repeating as champs.

Phils are working Pedro Martinez out this morning. I wonder if anything is left in his tank?

Now Sanchez, the six man narrowly misses a perfect game while throwing a no-no. The Giants need to trade him now for a big bat. Nelson Cruz from Texas would be nice. This reassures that Halladay is not needed in the South Bay.
