Wacky Deck Ideas
« on: June 27, 2020, 07:15:25 PM »
I've thought about making a thread to just celebrate old deck designs from yesterday, and thought it might be fun to do it here (so it's not lost in the random discussion and topics of Discord).

The first one I was thinking about recently was my "Evil Russian" deck. The joke started because Big Show's Survivor Series 2 superstar card was that he looked Russian to my playgroup. Around that time, It Pays to be Evil came out, and building around it was fun. Usually, though, all the rest of the named cards had some use, but no one was using this card:

Remove Corner Turnbuckle
Mid-match Action / Reversal: Special: Heel
As an action, you may place any card with the words "touch turnbuckle" in the title in your opponent's Ring area into his Ringside pile and end your turn.
As a reversal, can reverse any card with the words "touch turnbuckle" in the title, and end opponent's turn.
When this card is in your Ring area, any player must overturn the top 5 cards from his Arsenal into his Ringside pile whenever the card titled Throw Into the Corner Turnbuckle is successfully played against him. Then place this card in your Ringside pile.
F: 6     D: 0

So the concept of the deck was to Taunt for It Pays to be Evil (I don't recall if there was a way to get it back if the random discard caught it, though).  Some of the other actions helped get the initial move through, and if it went all the way through, I'd drop a Remove and end my turn. Big Show had a solid reversal base, which helped keep the games under control, while ripping off 3 turnbuckle covers.

Then came the Throw into the Corner, which caused a 15 card overturn (since DTTAH wasn't invented yet), often followed up with the irreversible Big Show Splash (9D + 6D from Throw), for a total of 30 potential cards overturned!

I didn't play the deck very competitively, but it won more often than it lost, and that wacky Evil Russian was a blast to play.

How about you guys?

Chain/High-Risk Diesel
Springboard Hollywood Hulk Hogan
Irish Whip/Chain Goldust "Whips and Chains" (I stole this from someone to be fair)
Suggestive cards in Billy & Chuck (Poke, Go-Behind, etc)
D-Von with Diving maneuvers "Holy Diver"

I'm the wind, baby.

I currently have a mono-high risk The Revival built (despite their tagline No Flips, Just Fists), with Blindside Elbow Drops, Technical Stomps/Splashs and lots of Ready to Fight.

Hypocrisy!  haha

My first mono-High Risk deck was Jerry Lawler, with Technical HRs played after cards, and Drive Opponent Through the Announcer's Table.  Good times!

Love that Lucha Hogan idea, Hogtrail, haha.

I once won a tournament in the early days of Virtual with Randy Orton, and the only Set-up Action that I packed (besides Destiny, natch) was 15 copies of Money Talks, "BS" Walks!.

Incidentally, I won at least one match because of running Money Talks, "BS" Walks!, because the Action removal on the card stripped away the Volley This that was giving the Shelton player enough Fortitude for I've Seen The Light.

One of the coolest 'wacky deck' ideas I saw was from "Evil Dave" at the Texas Qualifier after Vengeance. It was a Mankind IAATG Four Corners deck, but what made his different from the other Mankind/TMW decks at that time was the pursuit of winning by Four Corners!  He would get maneuvers down and play the following:

Touch Turnbuckle #1 (play as a Counter)
Touch Turnbuckle #2 (play after a successful move while ahead in F)
Touch Turnbuckle #4 (discard 3 reversals to play it)
According to the Contract Table

He beat me by naming Contract Table as #3, since it is the hardest to execute (play after 2 moves).  :D

With his permission, I built the deck and ran it at a local tournament, just to have won a Raw Deal game by stating the name of a card, heh.

I know this might be late but I think the people that I usually play w/ get a Kick outta my Eugene deck as he was my Fun build that consisted only upon Superstar Specifics if I had extras as They kinda laugh or maybe get annoyed when I throw a Trish Stratusfaction Bulldog or her StratusPhere or Lita's Stuff of Stacy's Roundhouse Kicks and also ge annoyed when I 1st turn use the Johnny Go Round Kick from the Spirit Squad and as far as my PreMatch it's more so the Trash T'r'alkin Interview Combo w/ The Feud TTI, 2 of the Heel TTI, a Chris Nowinski:GRA, and Backstage interview w/ Terri the Reason why I use the Feud as well as the other 2 is you used the Chris Nowinski and pop it w/ the Feud with it for a Reg of 12 so essentially if not revesed you can regen your deck at least 2 maybe 3x's

Another Wacky Deck of mine is my Lashley as it was my Immortal 1 deck before that and I only pack 3 of each of the Bash Multi's for 9-12 Moves (3x Headlock/Suplex/Punch and up to 2 Ariel Clotheslines) ad the way I filled him w/ is the rest was the WWE Divas Combo.

I know when I decide to run the Big Bossman he's gonna be Shoot/and cards the refs Law Stuff.

An idea I never got off the ground but always wanted to try was Cactus Jack with only moves with headlock in the title, and a bunch of heel actions and reversals to mimic his heel ECW run

I run a Cactus Jack/Mystery Wrestler Deck as I just take out 10 cards when I do the Mystery Wrestler and that deck has the J.R. Animal Hat Trick in it! As I think it's funny and I have only won 1x w. that combo.
