First Raw Deal Deck I've Built In 10 Years (Phenom)
« on: November 15, 2016, 09:56:18 PM »
Okay so don't grill me if my list is illegal or something like that. I feel like I'm either cheating or not doing something very well. haha
The idea is to go first and pop "Title's on the Line to make my first maneuver of the game arsenal only and I'll play Face Stretch that I search for from Big Evil and it is a 0F 0D maneuver that is arsenal only so I get an instant 8F to start with.
From there I swing hard maneuvers like atomic lariat, ankle lock, and superstar specifics to win.
I have shuffle back cards to recover and a ton of reversals.

It seems pretty straight forward and good to me.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Best,

-J

Your "get started" plan is pretty frail to be honest, even in with no virtual you're counting on someone not searching/opening draw with a Don't Try, and even if they don't they can just restricted use and reverse the first one as normal, giving them extra time to DTTAH, I'm not sold on the break the hold/quick reflexes/unexpected turns (as a higher SSV you only get 7D or less moves with them), maybe a few leg drag TBs and Nerve Holds instead? Which also gives you some room to pack a few more moves in the deck, I'd make room for a panic throw or assault, might as well get some Fort off Throttled and combo it (maybe lose the DLB since 2F doesn't seem helpful), some get the F out's would be helpful too, and if you're going to go annoying hard to stop moves you NEED the Presicion Haymakers (which feed off the 8F you're trying to get with the Face Stretch), also throwing big ol'soup bones in the corner should be in there too, maybe a plan B of searching for a pump kick if you go first as well.....it's been forever since I've played a game without virtual cards but that would be a start

I played when the game first came out. I also live in CT so I have the honor of having known Barron, and interacting with him through not only Raw Deal, but through his MTG days of owning his own store. May he rest in peace. That said, the first deck I ever had a tournament win with was Christian. It was obvious that the mechanics of his ability suited discard effects. I can't remember the exact decklist, but as a heel, he packed the obvious spit on opponent, commish rules, spinning heel kick, 4 fortitude gave you a lot of discard options, and once your opponent got down to 0 cards or no reversals in hand, that was it. His shades are terribly broken lol. The other stars I had success with leading up through summer slam were hurricane helms, eddie guerrero, and big show. Also had a fetish for x-pac and his pac, or being back, or just being whack! I still have my whole collection I don't know what to do with it yet. Good to see a following for a game I fell in love with so long ago.

You know what's a REALLY good Non-Virtual Phenom deck? BASH Phenom. You start out at 4 fortitude with the BASH pre-match cards. You get 4 Return BASH's + 4 Revolution of the Minds as reversals to start. Not to mention you can play German Suplex TBs off of your reversals and the early BASH moves like BASH Suplex and BASH Punch are good early Multis. Then they lead into your Atomic Lariats and Precision Haymakers for a nasty beat down. You can go Fan Favorite for Look Into the Eyes or Cheater for Death Awaits No Man. You go the Fan Favorite route you obliterate with maneuvers, and you go the Cheater Route you can drop Shoot Actions + Shane O'Mac Delivers the BASH + Death Awaits for No Man for a blue wave!

I actually played BASH Phenom at the last Comic Images Gencon tourney and while I didn't do so great at the time if you tune it right it can be extremely effective I'm sure.
