Mainly just signal boosting this one: Incredible Expeditions

Yeah, it's a KickStarter for a Steampunk adventure game with airships and stuff. It's put together by a dear old friend of mine, and while I haven't personally had a chance to try the game, I trust her taste and ability. So... check it out, maybe help chip in?

While possibly not the same level as some PWG shows certain fellas around here get to see, I've got a 2nd Row ticket to see the following at a ROH show tomorrow:

World TV Champion Matt Taven w/ Truth Martini vs. Jay Lethal vs. Adam Cole vs. Michael Elgin
Davey Richards vs  Bobby Fish
Eddie Edwards vs Kyle O'Reilly
Kevin Steen vs. Silas Young
Tommaso Ciampa vs. Rhino
Mike Bennett  vs. BJ Whitmer
Athena vs. MsChif

And a tag match with ACH involved. This is gonna be good.

Rules Forum / Opening Volley Versus Douche
« on: February 02, 2013, 10:08:26 PM »
The Opening Volley
Pre-match Event
Your non-Multi Volley: # maneuvers read as Volley: #+3, and your opponent’s non-Superstar-specific reversals to them deal no damage.
When your Fortitude Rating is less than 10, he cannot reverse from Ring or remove cards from his Ringside to reverse your Volley non-Multi maneuvers.
F: 0     D: 0     Unique     RMS logo

Don't be a Douchebag!
Action / Reversal: Special
As an action, cannot be reversed when you have lower Fortitude; shuffle up to 2 cards from your Ringside into your Arsenal.
As a reversal, ignore any reversal restriction from a card, reverse any non-Unique maneuver that is Revolution or has a reversal restriction; when overturned, can also reverse any non-damage card effect (even during the Pre-Match phase), and put this card in to your Ring.
Choose one: draw 1 card or your opponent discards 1 card.
F: 0     D: 2     Unique     Permanent

Question: Is the effect of Opening Volley a Reversal Restriction, or an Opponent Restriction? I.E, can you Douche any non-multi volley move when your opponent has less than 10F?

Rules Forum / Iran Number One! Question.
« on: January 29, 2013, 09:32:10 AM »
Okay -
You Will Witness History
Pre-match Event
At the end of the Pre-match phase, search your Arsenal for 2 different non-unique cards that are Chain, Heat, or Volley maneuvers, reveal them to your opponent, put them into your hand, and shuffle your Arsenal.
You can only play maneuvers that are Superstar-specific, Chain, Heat, or Volley maneuvers. You cannot play a maneuver with the same title as a maneuver in your Ring area.
F: 0      D: 0

IRAN... Number One!
Pre-match Event
Once during each of your turns, name a non-Superstar-specific maneuver; your cards with that title are now Heat when played for the rest of the turn, but your opponent ignores any printed reversal restrictions on that card (including Chain).
When you successfully play a Heat maneuver, search your Arsenal for a Heat maneuver, put it in your Ringside, and shuffle your Arsenal; when he is a Legend, he then reveals his hand.
F: 0     D: 0     Unique     Permanent

Now my understanding is you have to meet all requirements before you can actually play a card. So just to make sure I understand correctly: You cannot play maneuvers made Heat by IRAN... Number One! from ringside, and you also cannot play them while You Will Witness History is in play, correct? As they aren't heat while in Ringside and therefore can't be played, and they aren't heat until played, so History would block their getting played.

Rules Forum / Macho Man Joins the Wolfpack Question
« on: January 22, 2013, 08:07:31 AM »
Heh, I started looking more in depth at this card and came up with a question:

Macho Man Joins the Wolfpack     (nWo Wolfpack logo)
Backstage Card
When packing this card, you may pack Macho Man Randy Savage maneuvers, they are now nWo cards, and ignore the 'with "blindside" in the title' text in them.
Your Backstage cards with "shenanigans" in the title do not count towards your Ability.
During your turn when you have at least 10 lower Fortitude, you may hide this card and put 1 nWo non-Trademark Finisher maneuver from your Ringside into your hand; when your next card played is an nWo non-Trademark Finisher maneuver, it is F: 0 and when your Fortitude Rating is 8 or less, it cannot be reversed from hand.
Unique     nWo logo     RMS logo

Now, one of Macho's cards is a Maneuver/Action. When played as an Action, is Savage Double Axe Handle a nWo card?

(side question - When a hybrid action/maneuver is played as an action, it is a non-maneuver card, correct? Yes, I'm asking to see if Savage Double Axe Handle will interact awesomely with nWo T-Shirt.)

Rules Forum / Mahoney - Chair Swinging Question
« on: January 18, 2013, 01:14:25 PM »
Revolution ECW’s Chair Swingin’ Freak     (Balls Mahoney logo)
Mid-match: Antic
When you have a non-Revolution card in your Ring: this card has Momentum.
Search your Arsenal for up to 1 Extreme with "chair" in the title, reveal it, put it into your hand, and shuffle.
When this card is in your Ring, replace "Extreme" text with "Extreme or Foreign Object" on your Superstar-specific cards.
F: 0     D: 0     Unique     ECW logo

Severely dumb question, but the bolded part doesn't alter Balls' ability, does it?

Rules Forum / Dumb 'Whole f'n Show' Question
« on: January 05, 2013, 06:35:00 AM »
The Whole F'n Show     (Rob Van Dam logo)
Backstage Card
When packing this card, you may pack High-Flying Style.  This card is always considered to be revealed.
Your Ability is blank.  You are now an Extremist.
Your Rob Van Dam-specific actions and One of a Kind are -4F, ignore the "Can only be played..." text, and they cannot be reversed by non-Unique cards.  Your cards with "kick" in the title are Multi, +1D and +1 Stun Value.
Unique     ECW logo     RMS logo

Bolded the part I have a question about. Am I correct in assuming that 'cannot be reversed by non-Unique cards' means that I could still reverse them with card effects from non-unique cards? Like Rules Were Meant to Be Broken and the like.

Thank you.

Classic Raw Deal / Worst UR Pulls?
« on: October 19, 2012, 08:27:22 AM »
So I bought a couple cheap boxes of Revo1 this week, since I needed the Rares and Uncommons. I was seriously jinxed in terms of UR pulls. I already have full <R> HHH and Cena, but only 1 UR for <R> Batista and 1 UR for <R> Rey.

I pulled 2 copies of <R> I Walk Alone and 2 copies of <R> I Do It For My People, and 1 <R> Knock Your Shell Off.

Guess what the one Rey and one Batista UR I already had are?

So now I'm wondering, just to start a discussion, what have been your unluckiest UR pulls from a box of Raw Deal?

Fantasy Cards / The <R>eskin Project
« on: September 10, 2012, 08:50:09 PM »
Okay, just re-editing this whole post to reflect the current status of the project and give a full explanation. This started out as 'reskinning' <R> cards to Chikara wrestlers in order to tempt my not-exactly-WWE fan roommate into trying Raw Deal. I'd chosen Revolution because it had smaller card sets for wrestlers and the rules were simpler than classic Raw Deal. Also there were less references to 'card with xxxx in the title', which would make renaming cards tricky. This has now turned into an effort to reskin the entirety of the superstar specifics in <R> format to non-WWE wrestlers from TNA, the indies, and very possibly beyond. The goal is to maintain as much game balance as possible. Technically just renaming them at all probably sets the balance off a little. And this really only applies to <R> format, All Axxess this stuff probably breaks harder. Right now I'm refraining on putting any female wrestlers on top of any of the current <R> superstars as I gathered from the spoiler thread the next Virtual <R> set might contain some and some cards actually referring to female superstars. And while I'm putting some tag teams on top of singles wrestlers they'll not be treated as tag teams in play to maintain game balance.

Note: Even though game balance is striving to be maintained, these are not legal for official tournament play.

You can see the compiled form of what's been done here, thanks to Mr. World Champ, Buddha Dudley -

General Chat / Weird Ways Raw Deal Has Come Up in Every Day Life?
« on: September 07, 2012, 06:25:23 AM »
This isn't strictly about Raw Deal, so I put it in general chat. Just a weird little thing I wanted to share.

Recently I had the fortune to go straight from graduate student to actual librarian in the Milwaukee Public Library system. Now, as part of my job, I have to look for new ideas for library outreach and the like. So when I saw a concept called 'LibraryBox' on, I was intrigued. It was a self-contained unit that could generate a wi-fi network just for itself, to distribute Creative Commons and Public Domain materials at any location you took the unit to. I'm currently working on writing up a proposal for the library to do just that. But the real surprise came when I saw who had first developed the LibraryBox.

Former Raw Dealer Jason Griffey.

Anyone else have strange, unexpected occurrences of Raw Deal in their lives outside of gaming?

Professional Wrestling Discussion / Chikara in Wisconsin, Anyone?
« on: August 03, 2012, 11:11:45 AM »
For those of us not making it down to Gencon in 2 weeks, I was wondering if any folks were going to the Milwaukee Chikara show on the 17th? It's already shaping up to be a pretty great card. And for those -going- to Gencon, there is of course the Indianapolis show on the 18th.

...Yeah, I've turned into a total Chikara fan. But mainly just wanted to see if I'd get the chance to meet any TCO folks at the Milwaukee show.

It's probably just a dumb gimmick deck. The fact that Kofi can make Springboards irreversible and the other 2 cards on LS&B can just be thrown into your ring via the TB versions means getting that part done isn't so hard. It has enough damage to win traditionally, as well. So yeah, this was my first attempt at Kofi. Entirely untested, but I think it looks good in theory.

Rules Forum / All Together Now
« on: May 24, 2012, 01:29:14 PM »
This is one of those questions where I think I know the answer, but want to make sure my 'sneakiness' is actually allowed.

All Together Now
Pre-match Feud
When you are packing this card, you can only pack Pre-match and Mid-match cards that are Chain, Heat, or Volley, or have the word “chain,” “heat,” or “volley” in the text. You may also pack Mid-match Superstar-specific and Reversal cards.
Your Pre-match and Mid-match cards that are Chain, Heat, or Volley or have the word “chain,” “heat,” or “volley” in the text do not take up a Pre-match or a Mid-match slot in your Ring area.
F: 0 D: 0

So, by the rules of this card, I can pack pre and mid-match cards that contain 'heat' in other words, right? Like in the word 'Cheater'?

I'm posting this separate from my other post, since she's got a full set of initial support...

Feedback is as always welcomed and encouraged.

Just me spitballing SSA ideas, mainly. And this time, I'll stick to one topic thread! We'll start with King Kong Bundy, who I mostly assume didn't make SNME because support pictures are a sonamagun to find.

Is She Crazy or Just Crafty?
Backstage Card
When packing this card, your Hide & Seek and Vise Lock cards are not Cheater and they are Multi.
During your turn, you may hide this card and for each card in your Ring that has cards under it, put up to 1 card from your Ringside under that card.

Just a question, here. I get the intent, but by how it is worded since there's nothing saying she -can- pack them, wouldn't this card actually make it illegal for Mickie James to pack Vise Locks as they are now a multi maneuver?

131/150 (RARE)
Let's Make Some Noise ...
When this card is in your Ring area, whenever you must discard a card from your hand; you must discard, but you may then draw 1 card for each card discarded.
F: 10   D: 0

From the OmniFAQ:
Let’s Make Some Noise
-This effect will trigger any time the player discards a card from hand.
-Road Dogg will draw after the discard effect passes.  He cannot pump arbitrarily large amounts into Half Hour Suplex with this card, although he may draw equal to the number discarded.

Two questions:
1) Just so I'm completely clear, despite the word 'must' on Let's Make Some Noise, you get to draw a card every time you discard a card from hand, even from optional discard effects (For example, JR Style Clubberin')?

2) In the instance of JR Style Clubberin', What is the order of effects? (i.e. Is it discard to Clubberin, draw a card, then shuffle two maneuvers, or is it discard to the ACE, shuffle back two maneuvers, then draw?)

Thanks for the help!

Fantasy Cards / Alternative Super Star Cards (from Wisconsin)
« on: March 21, 2012, 12:13:06 AM »
So Mr. Wallemania challenged me to make more 'alternative' super star cards, a la the ones the Chilean folks were posting. Since they stopped right around Armageddon, I decided to start from there and I'll work my way through. One thing - I'm playing with my templates to make them look more 'correct', so they're not perfect yet. I also played around a bit with The Phenom's card layout. And Shane McMahon is a son of a gun to find good images of that aren't the one already on his printed card. So, here we go:
