Fantasy Cards / Re: New Venue! Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

I like Drywall's idea to improve the card.
It goes nice with my Kenny Omega fantasy set.

No wonder the sets were kept separate. This is a giant release. Thanks for putting in the work. It's great to be caught up in the game when a big support set comes out like this.

It does not have the "Can only be played after.." text ignored, but if you were to activate this ability when they reverse from Arsenal your maneuver is still considered successfully played and you can follow it up accordingly.

General Discussion: Raw Deal / Re: Backlash Podcast
« on: October 26, 2017, 01:59:30 PM »
Was finally able to catch both episodes of the podcast. Very interesting stuff, but I feel like more could be done in this!

Feedback:
1. I think the presentation of the podcast should be improved upon. Sitting in front of a laptop doesn't look nice for the viewer, might consider sitting facing one another, using a phone/tablet to check points would look better and feel better, presentation-wise. Just a tiny gripe.

2. Content-wise is superb. Stories are interesting and some bit of discussion of strategy and gameplay is awesome, but I think it's ramping up on future podcasts so I'm looking forward to that. However, I do want to see more discussion on cards and am hoping to see more of that soon.

3. The "spoilers", although interesting... are really misleading... in some ways. When I see the term spoilers, I expected actual cards and not just vague information on the 8B stuff, because that felt a bit underwhelming. I'm guessing Creed and the rest didn't want to divulge too much since titles/texts/etc can still change but I think the term "teaser" might be more accurate here. But of course, this was because the so-called spoiler section was the main event of sorts in the podcast.

Concluding my thoughts, the podcast was still very fun to watch and the duration isn't super long so I managed to watch both in a single seating. Definitely looking forward to future episodes!!

I see where you're coming from with the spoiler phrasing on the V8b content. The intention wasn't to be misleading, I just happened to have used different terms for the content that we're able to share with everyone.
Creative criticism is always welcome, and everything was well explained. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and I feel I can make some improvements with these ideas.

Tournament Reports / Re: Virtual 8 Barrie, Ontario - October 22
« on: October 23, 2017, 07:32:34 AM »
I have to give props to Shuker who playtested with me (using Arn) and he probably would have won if he was able to play today as he beat me 3 times in a row in testing.

Through playtesting, I added Trash Talking Interview TB and it was the MVP that helped me get on the board every game.

I was watching a bit of the Arn vs Team Xtreme they played out when we had extra time. He's pretty good and won without having to use the new midmatch reversal.
In my game against Team Xtreme he threw a turn one Let me Get a Shot In that was reversed on overturn, only to continue his turn and throw something else big. That wasn't a fun game.

Tournament Reports / Virtual 8 Barrie, Ontario - October 22
« on: October 22, 2017, 01:23:34 PM »
We had a Virtual 8 exclusive event today, with a lower than expected turnout. A combination of conflicting schedules and not enough time to construct decks were the root causes. So Round Robin it is!
I've been working on Hart Dynasty for a few weeks. Premiere Smackdown with #1 Announcer Funaki, Zack Ryder GRA and The Queen of Harts to do some serious deck digging to have a good opening hand was the theme of the Pre-match phase. Packed a maneuver base of Chains, a few High Risks to play off of From the Top Rope and Running Clothesline TB to play after Sprineboard at 1F.

Dave - Summer Rae
Eric - The Hart Dynasty
Pat - Team Xtreme
Scott - Fandango

Round 1
Team Xtreme p Harts https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6E6v4F5CGBo
Fandango p Summer

Round 2
Fandango p Team Xtreme
Harts p Summer Rae

Round 3
Fandango p Harts
Team Xtreme p Summer Rae

Scott had an undefeated record, so he walked away with a Brooke Adams Backstage Autograph Session.

Will update when matches are uploaded.

Thanks for the post it has been useful. :)

Holy necro thread, Batman.

A few have been dug up which is neat to see. I don't think I've ever read the 4 Phases of Raw Deal post before.

Rules Forum / Re: The Second Coming Question
« on: October 13, 2017, 09:00:35 AM »
Would this mean The Hart Dynasty's card they're playing face down from hand would have to meet the fortitude requirement? These guys and Second Coming are two different effects, but dealing with same theme of face down cards.

THE HART DYNASTY
Starting Hand Size: 8     Superstar Value: 3
Stable Superstar Ability:  You can pack Chain Wrestling, From the Top Rope, and Springboard in your Backstage Area.  During your turn, you may discard 1 card and play 1 card from hand face-down; when you do, choose 1 Set-up card in your Backstage Area, and your played card gains the text and title of the chosen card, and gains the text 'Cannot be reversed'.
When you would flip over a face-down card in your Ring, shuffle it into your Arsenal instead.
You are a Tag Team.

Not correct, because we're talking about different mechanics.

Think of Second Coming's ability as similar to playing a card from under another card.  Outside reduction abilities aside, you can't throw a turn 1 Press Slam from under Back to Basics because you don't have 24F.  Same concept here - you're trying to play a Shoot Lock-Up, not a face-down card.

Hart Dynasty's ability permits you to play a face-down card from hand.  The printed contents of the card don't matter - the card is face down, which by definition has nothing but a title, so it passes the requirements check, and then the Superstar Ability adds the text and irreversibility after the check.

<This space will be filled with timing breakdown specifics shortly.>

Okay, thanks for the thorough ruling. :)

You could always proxy them just for the sake of building the deck.

Getting back to The Hart Dynasty, has anyone else made an attempt at them yet? After a playtest with these guys, their cycling in the prematch makes more sense. They have various ways to get maneuvers into hand with two of the set-ups and can play certain ones cheaper thanks to The New Foundation and Trained in the Hart Dungeon.
I'm wondering if it's worth adding some maneuvers to work off of Springboard. Atomic Back Body Drop looks fun, but their card pool calls for Chain.

At the end of the day our meta  is pretty laid back. That's why we'll see some superstars win that are never discuss here like Devils Favourite Demon, Road Dogg and RVD.

Why do you need a "laid back" meta for Devil's Favorite Demon to get a win?

He's not a superstar you hear about in reports and larger tournaments. Figured there was a reason, but around here he's hadn't one loss.

Rules Forum / Re: Dont try this at home

Managed by Terri Runnels
Pre-match Manager: Heel
Your opponent’s Starting Hand Size is -1.
When this card is in your Ring area, you may put this card into your Ringside pile to reverse any card that would allow your opponent to search his Arsenal for any number of cards and end his turn.

Managed by Terri is used as a reversal toyohr opponent's effect during his turn. Your opponent is not allowed to play reversals on his turn sonhe would be unable to play Don't Try this at Home.

You should find a way to borrow a bunch of signatures and build a Doink deck using his rules. He may have a change of heart to the actual rules afterwards.

I haven't really considered that stipulation. That's a card that hasn't been dropped against me, so I'm not too concerned. Until every deck I play against next Sunday reveals it.

I've been playing around with these guys and have to revise a good chunk of my deck to accommodate some issues.
Handsize drops really fast with the discard and playing the facedown card. Considering going a Premiere Smackdown Route since I'm running the Smackdown title that searches for a Chain of Volley maneuver and SD cards throughout the Arsenal and Backlash deck. Steel Chain Shots are on the short list, and ICBRTR is a must pack.
Don't rely too much on their Prematch card that give you the cheap move after a facedown card. Your Reach Exceeds your Grasp will hit it and you're at a 3-4 card loss turn one.

Full disclosure. Podbean is the podcatcher that I use and I want to listen to your podcast and am too lazy to use another podcatcher

Sorry maskedllama, but Podbean is pretty restrictive with a free account and we're unable to get the show hosted through their services. Have you considered checking us on on Youtube, or downloading the mp3 to your phone from http://backlashpod.podiant.co?

Glad they didn't have him attack. Hopefully they develop this long term and get some milage out of it. Sami is so well liked to begin with, let's get a good long turn out of him.

Not a prediction exactly, but I read online somewhere about an idea that Sami interferes on Kevin's behalf and turns heel got me pretty excited.

*Spoiler haha

Is it a spoiler? When I saw it online it was someone's idea.

General Discussion: Raw Deal / Re: ready set Action!
« on: October 08, 2017, 11:55:57 AM »
Trish Stratus is a great Action deck. I haven't put her together since playing Virtual, her new mismatch reversal helps her out on the defensive along with Revos will help with more deck space.
Michael Coke was a deck inwas tinkering with before giving up. His ability to name any Action reversals can be pretty good depending on how you want to win.
You should consider Vickie Guerrero as well. The ability to play Actions during your opponent's turn is unique in the game. You can overwhelm them quickly and have an unstoppable blue wave later on.
