Whoever it is, I'm sure we'll all be glad! Some will just be glad-er than others.

Just wondering... if there is ever a new plan in the near (or far) future where there will be an expansion focusing more on deck building cards instead of superstars? something like new tech or like the classic line of cards from V4 to V8 thus far.

VR Wrestlemania was a huge success with 9 player turnout (3 last min dropouts or we'll be 12). This time round we have a vendor sponsor that provided the play area, as well as a stage and live broadcast in store, and on Facebook Live. I think this was a big step towards having the format getting recognised in Singapore as the local wrestling community, Wrestling Lah, has shown interest in picking up the game or supporting it in some form. This is awesome news as we haven't had such a large scale event since... the end of official CI tournaments? Regardless, the future is most important, and I am glad we could bring this much attention to the game that has been out of print.

On to the tournament overview. Gameplay was interesting as usual because we got to see 2 returning players, as well as the crowning of a new top of the chart, Vincent! It goes to show that with constant participation, you need not be 1st in every tournament to get to the top. Of the 9 decks, only 1 used the maneuver reversal hybrids, but definitely more players chose the Extreme route this time, with 4 of 9 decks playing them. As per most tourneys, there are some one-sided games, and then there are some extremely close fights. I was lucky to have both recorded in the live video, with the close fight going from 00:00 to 13:30 and the one sided game from 17:30 to 23:40.

It's a little late, but we finally confirmed the venue! This year round for Wrestlemania, we are proud to partner with a local gaming store, Toys Or Games (TOG)! They will be providing the venue, as well as streaming of our games in store. A photographer will also be on site for the event to record down the day's activities. This might be common for other places like US or Chile, but seeing that this is the first time in a long time that we get such a big open event to the public, so I really hope anyone who is in the area to drop by and check it out! There will be free crash course for Revo format if anyone is interested.

But that aside, Funaki was a really surprising pick IMO because of the lack of Volley This. And Douche. And Don't Try. And Back Throw.

Mine was a little more unorthodox. Basically I ran a semi aggro Christy deck that had alot of drawing to boost my hand to draw into my maneuvers. Back then in classic, there weren't any Douche or Carlito, so I would usually spam my Mod Clutch and Girly Grabs to high damage. All in the hope of pulling off Roll-up. Needless to say it was easier said than done since handsize is something hard to control, but there were legit few games were it went through, and all I could say to my opponent was that Roll Up is only 2D! Too bad.

Elimination Chamber was a blast! 8 person tournament, comeback of our first champion, return of an old player, and addition of a new player! Congratulations to Wen Huan for regaining your champion position, just like you did in the first SG VR tournament! Everyone walked away with a random door gift and congrats to Vincent for taking home the Alt art The Degenerates Faction.

On to my observations of the games:

1. Quite the opposite from the previous, because of the 8 decks that were played, 4 ran the maneuver reversal hybrids for their cores. It probably boils down to the need for drawing effect from Filling In The Blanks. This was a big difference from the first where only 1 of 8 decks ran those Cores.

2. Smarter placement of core reversals. We all knew that players are most likely to focus on having Scissors Hold, Elbow Smash and Snap Bulldog as their starting maneuvers since they can be picked up from ringside every turn. I observed that unlike the previous games where we would blanket pack the 3D and 4D reversals, players are getting smarter by packing reversals to counter those 3 maneuvers. This would also give them the necessary fort to play more things next turn. For example, Jeff Hardy packed 3 of each 4D reversals, just so it would be a perfect bridge from that reversal to Flying Forearm (4F 5D), which leads to Missile Dropkick (9F 15D).

3. Handsize manipulation is key. As mentioned, Filling In The Blanks is so popular because it not only adds cards into your hand, it also puts 1 not-so-useful card at the bottom. Apart from that, Cesaro always had a good starting hand because of WWE's Powerhouse and Swiss Superman that gave him a preview of the top of his arsenal and sieving out what to draw and what not to draw. The shocker was probably Stone Cold because he had a measly starting hand of 5 (+1 if Ruckus), but yet have the best hand advantage because he can put those unwanted cards in hand at the bottom and draw the same number. Cards like Shoulder Block and Thrown Into The Ring Apron also gave him insight of what to expect for the next draw.

Overall, it was a competitive yet extremely fun session for everyone! Hopefully more will pick up the format.

Does this mean that Try to get away (reverses any Mean) can also Means that Elijah Burke plays? Reason being the Mean is still there regardless of how leader of the new breed changes it to colossal?

Cycle 4 Tourney 1 results are out! After 1 year+ of coming within 2nd or 3rd place, Ironteeth finally managed to clean house and go with a 7-0 final scoring. Sportsmanship was on point where the more seasoned players would point out tips or obvious reversals that people would pack. Ultimately such events are to foster positive playing experience! Being nice always helps to retain and attract :)

Interesting facts from the tourney:

1. Of the 8 participants, 3 participants were present in cycle 1. That shows how the format has grown from then.

2. Each game lasted between 10 to 20min, and there is a fair balance between matches that are close fights (both players <5 cards in arsenal), and obvious winners. Total gameplay amounted to about 2hrs+ of game play. Comparing 7 games in 2hrs to 2 games in 2hrs, Revo is more quick paced (due to its simplicity) and aggressive nature.

3. while the stipulation did try to push for usage of 'underused' superstars, most players stuck to superstars that were used before, like Triple H and Goldberg. But it was ultimately a superstar that hasn't been featured before that walked away with an alt art superstar of his choice, as well as a ticket to cash in against a champ in any of the remaining tournaments in this cycle.

4. Of the 8 decks played, only The Rock went with the maneuver reversal hybrids, and even so, its just for the 0F 7D maneuvers as Cores do 1D to him. HHH2 and Golderg went with the Good Luck With That reversals.

5. Scissors Hold, Double Leg Lock Crab are still the 2 most popular maneuvers due to their versatility and the lack of equally strong counterparts.

6. Most importantly, HHH's Hammer came out only once in the entire tournament!

All in all, it is what you would expect from a standard PPV. You get matches that are walkovers, some with alot of technical play, and the main event between 2 experienced players.

No offence taken Creed. As players we get carried away. You've been doing this for such a long time, I think you know too damn well we are appreciative of all the effort you and your crew put into the game. Heck, I even donated twice.. Guess I get a tag then?? ;)

That said, we are really passionate about the format so feel free and PM us if you need help with idea generation, playtesting, or general feedback as a whole. We want to do more than just mention some names or donate, and without a doubt that's what everyone will be willing to do too regardless of format, play style or region.

No plans for Revo, the demand is for Classic on the whole.  We'll see how it looks in another year or two though.

Aww thats sort of a bummer. There are new players picking up the format from Canada and US,  thought a few revo cards would continue the wave. Even so, can we have at least some promo that can be released during and after gencon, similar to the PPVs :)

Any thoughts of giving Revo a little love? Need not be superstars, but maybe deck building cards to spice up the game. VR5 deck building was really good in changing the meta. Looking forward to something like that in the near future :)

1.)  How viable is this superstar?
Elijah Burke has a good ability for pumping hand and recovery. But that is about it because he packs the depth in his other cards that could have pulled him up.
 
2.)  Is there a Superstar Specific Card that you'd like to spotlight? 
His ability is his best asset, all others are negligible. A worthy card to mention would be his Pre-match that you could build your deck around with.

3.)  How have you built said superstar?  How did it work out?
His ability doesn't lean towards anything so it's very general. You could go with either ring Psychology Leg to pick up maneuvers, while chucking the leftover reversals or unwanted legs below your Arsenal to get a higher chance of getting the card if ruckus is in play.
Another way would be to capitalise on his Pre-match by making all his means colossals. Outmaneuver is the most basic extreme reversal but that doesn't reverse colossals. So you would want to go with NON-extreme cores to build up fort to hit in colossals. Catching him in between 3 to 6f when you hit those colossals would mean he can't use slow the match to a crawl OR I won't be beat tonight.
The 3rd way of playing would be to make use of his 'put up to 1 card from Ringside at the bottom of your arsenal'. There are a bunch of cores that allow you to search for the same target or a different maneuver type. Use your ability to your advantage by recovering maneuvers thst you can search for. Lure thst hit like a girl out early in the game and you can keep searching your way to victory!

4.)  How well does the Superstar fare in whichever format you built them in be it VC/VAA/NXT/VR/Non-Virtual
His ability works well in all formats. In fact, it's even better than the Rock! But beyond that, it's up to individual preference to play depending on which format.

5.)  Final Thoughts on this Superstar?
Amazing ability for all formats, but a little disappointing on his support.

6.) Since this Superstar is a Legacy one (in that he was in the game before Virtual) can you elaborate a little on how Virtual has changed this Superstar?
As stated above, his pre match can determine the build of the deck, but not entirely necessary.

1.)  How viable is this superstar?
To me, revo is about have the big hand and the big maneuvers. Cena definitely clears the first one due to his drawing power from ability. One could either use Ring Psychology Assault to pick up the Holds to discard, or can just use Double Leg Lock Crab for infinite drawing power. Once your hand grows too big, you can always opt for a random Samoan Drop to put back stuff you don't need, and then don't draw that many cards. Another way to fix the drawing of 'useless' cards is to play Filling In The Blank where you can draw 0 and put 1 at the bottom.

2.)  Is there a Superstar Specific Card that you'd like to spotlight?

Put all cards from your Ringside into your hand: shuffle all cards from your hand into your Arsenal except for 2.

Tougher is by far the best recovery card in the game because you are basically recovering the entire ringside without any pre-requisites. Once your hand is down to 2, BAM, you can use or ability to draw more cards.

3.)  How have you built said superstar?  How did it work out?
There are 3 ways to build imo.

1. Ring Psychology Assault with maneuver/reversal hybrid
Using the Assaults to pick both a Hold with RP Assault, AND a mean with storyline ability is sick. If it was a blank text, you get filling in the blank draw too. Coupled that with your organic superstar ability mean you are adding up to 5 cards into your hand per turn.

2. Ring Psychology Leg
Works similarly to the above, and could be the combination of both. However, you will be adding an additional leg to hand, but forgoing the Filling since none of the maneuver/reversal hybrids are target leg.

3. Recovery deck
This is probably the least lethal but most annoying, where you pack both Hardcore Hell and 4ever No Mercy, while using recovery cards like Short Arm Hammerlock, Bow And Arrow, Dragon Sleeper and STF. They are all holds, and depending on your local meta, you can shift towards a Core heavy deck or a Mean heavy deck. Both will be to your advantage

4.)  How well does the Superstar fare in whichever format you built them in be it VC/VAA/NXT/VR/Non-Virtual
VR is works extremely well, given that Filling In The Blank can allow him to put back cards he dont need without taking out more cards from arsenal than required. But other than that, the general idea of Cena works well in both Revo and VR. Can't say the same for VAA because playing Holds only might or might not be predictable considering the easy of recycling reversals into arsenal every turn. With so many reversal restrictions going around, having a big hand might not be the key to victory.

5.)  Final Thoughts on this Superstar?
Good beginner's deck for anyone that wants to start the game because like I mentioned, big hand gives more opportunities to reverse. That allows a beginner to have hand advantage and to have better control of the game.

6.) Since this Superstar is a Legacy one (in that he was in the game before Virtual) can you elaborate a little on how Virtual has changed this Superstar?
The inclusion the VR support makes the deck stronger in terms of drawing power. However, I ran it without the Virtual support because increasing your handsize by up to 5 a turn sounds unnecessary.
