Rules Forum / Re: Panic assault versus backlash
« on: November 03, 2018, 05:01:37 AM »
There is one way to play Backlash...

from FAQ: -If a player plays a Panic Maneuver and the opponent has less Fortitude after playing a reversal or using a reversal effect for one of the Maneuvers, the second Maneuver is vulnerable to Backlash.  (This rare circumstance can happen if he uses a card such as Garbage Can Lid.)

I don’t think that applies to the scenario asked though.

Rules Forum / Re: "From a card"
« on: October 26, 2018, 04:42:53 AM »
I can see how this would be confusing, so think of it like this:

Card A granted card B a trait. The trait granted gives card B a reversal restriction, but the restriction still comes from the trait, not the card that granted the trait in the first place.

Does that make more sense?

Wording makes sense, but I’m not really following the logic. If card A isn’t played at all, there’s no restriction, so certainly the card A has to cause the restriction, regardless of what the restriction is?

I know we are still collecting names, but is there an anticipated start date?

I was blessed to travel (and leave my wife with a 3 month old and a 3 year old). I will likely not have that opportunity next year as she’ll be on month 12 of a 18 month maternity leave and I project our budget will be pretty tight by that point. Travelling will likely be a bi-annual thing for me personally.

Classic Raw Deal / Re: 2018 Gen Con Prize Support - Follow Up
« on: August 11, 2018, 04:35:16 PM »
Something similar happened at FunkCon. Prizes were picked as Top 4 played their matches (so everyone not playing could leave). Luckily for us, there were leftover prizes, and they were what I’d have picked regardless of what place I finished.

Going forward, for bigger events, top cut prizes should be separate from non-top cut prizes before the event happens to avoid this confusion.

Classic Raw Deal / Re: Virtual All Axxess, do you play it?

I hear a lot of "I only build AA for worlds"

Outside of Singapore, I think the same thing can be said about Revolution. Not to derail the conversation, but outside of the Gencon promos, weren’t the last Revolution cards released almost two years ago? Hopefully if AA gets dropped, it’ll open more time for Revolution support, if it’s intended to be kept for Worlds going forward.

June 2016 is the last All Axxess report on TCO outside of Gencon.

I cant wait to throw an 8f precision haymaker with nakamura and have it hit twice lol

I can’t wait to beef up a precision kick that they don’t reverse from hand.

carlito on one, then revo on two, and I laugh in your general direction

You can’t reverse from arsenal Silly Billy. That Revo is useless.

I share sentiments with many of those in this thread. I strongly disliked that the winners got the powerful prizes, often making their decks even better, while other struggled to keep up.

I like the idea of alternate arts/full arts, so winners can "bling" their deck, but don't get a huge advantage as a result.

PS. Although the signatures were given away randomly in our tournament kits back in the day, I received only 1 in the 2+ years they were handed out, where others won 5-6 times. That's just my awful luck though!

One Product Endorsements TB and this ends badly.

It’s already been mentioned that you’ll need to run Bitter Rivals and Product Endorsements yourself. None of this can be accomplished with the BASH deck listed, but it’s still a fun idea!

NY, NY
bitter Rivals
product endorsements
Living Legend
Tag Belts

And lots of slots to mold it to your play style.

Total meta choice. Volley is big in our area, Chain was in almost every deck at Funkcon (even the JYD BASH deck!) Packing 3 Ego Boosts and picking up a Boot each turn meant I was always able to maintain a small hand. Sure it’s sounds pricey, but it wasn’t as bad as it sounds when you fluffier I run only two recovery cards outside the backstage stuff. There comes a time in the match when you realize 1 card in hand is much more important than 6 useless cards in ringside. That’s certainly later in the game though, not turn 1.

It was in there for a long time, but got cut right before the tournament. I’ve never had problems with a Volley deck and heard that FunkyBunch are heavy on heel decks, so I put in Playing By The Rules TB and it was a wise choice when I faced Heel HHH. If someone really wants Making Your Escape, this is probably the card to cut. Otherwise, the Boots pick themselves up and the deck is loaded with reversals to spin if I think they have me ‘volley locked’.

One thing I do want to add is See How It Feels and perhaps Goodnight Everybody. I’d drop the For The Love of the Game x2 for them.

To me it's worth the wait since their SSV is not easy to protect, but # of moves in the ring? Yeahhh they'll get to 5 :)

And with BASH APA if you allow him to play 1 FtLotG, he can ACE it first turn and you lose 6 cards and cannot respond to it. That’s nasty.

Here's the list I played at FunkCon. Went 4-1, losing in top four where my last four cards in arsenal were my two TMFs, Divine and Sloppy and I had the fortitude to play the TMFs turn two. It just wasn't meant to be!

Fantasy Cards / Re: Fantasy support cards
« on: June 26, 2018, 04:41:15 AM »
I’m not sure I’d use the 2nd effect of Charm, Harm, Disarm given the 1st effect changes Googles. Random discard of one vs. see two and choose the one that gets discarded, ya know? But it’s good to have the option in case the build is crashing aggro/discard.

Rules Forum / Re: Leg Lock
« on: June 15, 2018, 04:21:10 AM »
You can play it as the only heat card and reap the benefits of it being chain. That being said, it is still a heat card, so as soon as it hits the ringside pile, it is essentially useless because you can only recover heat cards with other heat cards (unless an ability or card effect states otherwise).

If APA ACE the Ready to Fight x2, they pick up two moves to replenish the hand. It’s a cool combo.

The obvious solution to this is Coach Says Today’s the Day and/or Rules Were Meant to Be Broken.

Virtual Raw Deal / Re: 2018 Revision Discussion
« on: June 04, 2018, 02:56:32 PM »
The request wasnt worded very clearly. What he meant was:

Separate non-SS from Specifics.

From there, if any one wants to make multiple copies of non-specifics, they can copy /paste without opening 4 documents because they are already there on one document. Its opening four separate documents to copy 1 card to another document that gets tedious. We all know this.

I havent run into anyone that wants more than one copy of specifics, especially if they arent shared cards.

74
I use Revolution cards. Especially since I picked up half a case of Revo 1 and only have two Revo decks built.

Rules Forum / Re: Quick timing question

Step 2a is to determine the fortitude cost of the card.

Since Step 1 is only ‘play the card’, I’d say it’s totally a legal play. The NAO would not shuffle one card from the text of Precision Clothesline.

There’s a sticky thread in the Rules section on Timing Breakdown you can read while you wait for an official response.
