Good point! I suppose I'd probably replace Winning Side with Ruthless Aggression (tb).

Changes are marked with *. Ditched Hell in a Cell tech (How often does this get shut down in the current meta right?) for Titlebelt + 3x TTIOTL to really push through for the initial 3 leg maneuvers in ring. Also, Paul Bearer to provide a bit of sponge if the going gets tough. Otherwise, offensively, the deck should go to town after plowing through a douchebag etc on the way. +3D from Born of Hellfire and Hardcore belt should make the crappy little moves hurt a bit more (I've decided to stick with the single leg and double leg takedowns as they enable a constant flow of searches and card draw which helps keep the offence going - same with the knee locks and kneebreakers).
Ego boosts added for a bit of hand protection vs DTTAH and vs chain. Only problems I can see is if the opponent can sustain damage like a mofo. But hopefully, drop toeholds will be nuking Sustained and any other annoying crap. I've currently had to remove DTTAH's as my pre-match can't search them out and I guess I have Unscrupulous to fall back on?

I was looking at the possibility of blindside drop toe hold but then you can't have see no evil (fan favourite Vs cheater). I sadly don't own any shoot Russian leg sweeps. :(

Interesting, I must have an older revision of celebrity shenanigans as the version I used as reference didn't completely crap on Man of a 1000 holds. Not that that's a bad thing, in the interest of fairness :P

Sorry to bump this but I'm still none the wiser as to whether Method to the Madness protects from backlash discarding. I have a feeling it doesn't but just wanted clarification if possible.

General Discussion: Raw Deal / OG Hogan
« on: April 17, 2019, 11:33:43 AM »
So, Ive been trying a few golden era superstar builds. Most recently ive been trying to put something together for the original print of the Hulkster. I decided to go Volley as the natural fit with his ability but halfway through building the usual Cheater Punch after punch/ thrust knee lift build, I realised I can't pack 24-inch pythons!! :( Is there a reason Hogan never got to ignore cheater/fan favourite on his specifics? I know when virtual came in at first, a lot of older superstars got to ignore the cheater/fan favourite on their specifics as it seemed kinda unecessary to restrict them. What I'm saying is OG Hogan really wants to pack 24-inch pythons in his Cheater Volley deck, brother! :P

Rules Forum / A Method to the Madness discard protection
« on: April 17, 2019, 11:16:39 AM »
Quote
A Method To The Madness
Mid-match Action
During your turn when this card is in your Backlash, you may put it into your Ring.
Your first non-hybrid maneuver played each turn that is 6D or less can only be reversed from Arsenal or by D: 0 reversals from hand.  When you discard cards to play a card with 'blindside' in the title from Ringside, discard 1 less card.
F: 0     D: 0     Unique     Permanent

V1

If I have this in my ring and I play Blindside Beal Toss (which allows the opponent to choose a non unique card from my backlash and discard it), would I discard one less backlash card due to the protection of A Method to the Madness?

13
Great write-up! I recently built Macho Man, so I wanted to see what others opinions were. Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't "Savage Beatdown" work just fine with "A method to the madness"? I.e. the reversal restriction still applies until the maneuver is successfully played, no?

Also, "Reap the Rewards" is a good mid-match pack for Savage. "You Suck, you suck" is another good one if you go face.

Deck Reviews - Classic / Re: Heat
« on: January 14, 2019, 11:04:29 AM »
Leader of the Peepulation used to be obscene as a heat deck by abusing backfire/entangle in the ropes. Thankfully they've toned him down in virtual. I agree though, heat seems to be one of the weaker deck archetypes in today's meta. Jericho is the only heat deck I've tried in recent times and he works pretty well with a splash of chain.

Well, I realise my organisation/communication skills are absolutely shocking but... As from Monday I will be on my travels in California. I'll drop my itinerary here just on the off chance any of you folks might be free. Hey, it's a long shot but I'll be prepared with raw deal decks just in case. ;)

Mon 26th Feb -Friday 2nd March - Staying in San Francisco
Sat 3rd March - Thurs 8th March - Staying in San Diego
Friday 9th March - Sun 11th March - in Santa Monica
Then off to Vegas until Sat 17th.
Again, not expecting anyone to somehow be magically free on the pure chance I'd be about but like I said, worth a long shot. Either way, absolutely stoked to finally make the trip to the US of A! It's time for a great American Bash baybay!! 😁

Honestly, Creed and co could call it a day and never make another Virtual set again. While that would indeed be a sad day, I could go on playing Virtual Raw Deal happily with a huge variety of decks to test and play. They've balanced the game to damn near perfection now and they've given us matchups we thought we'd never see. Other than the odd attitude era midcarder that didn't make the cut, we have almost everything we need. Except Head-Cheese Damnit! Lol

18
Interesting, I must admit the revo side of raw deal is a bit of a foreign concept to me. Do you think his viability transfers well into VC? That is where he seems to be lacking to me.

19
Fair play mate. Have you posted a decklist at all? I'd definitely be interested to see how you built him as a few of us have tried in our playgroup and he just seems to get thrashed. Mind you I can only speak for Virtual Classic.

20
Bret needs help, doesn't he? When you compare his Superstar specifics to say - Terry Funk... The difference is ridiculous. I get that Bret was one of the first virtual decks (I remember printing him when TCO had the first rough copies of Virtual 1 on here.) All I can think, is build him chain. And some kind of discard theme. The hitman is a well designed card and it's techy but how often do people rely on one non-unique key card?? His precision moves (as maneuvers) are worse than normal precision moves. And the five moves of Doom is really flimsy (ACE should be irreversible). I like Excellence of Execution as the ultimate reversal (Fitting of Bret's ring generalship) but given his lacklustre card pool you might as well make it recurrable. (Ok that might be going too far). But he isn't really a threat in today's game. Give him "Bret's Spike pile-driver", a F:0 chain multi, only reversible from arsenal... gives you Rocks ability when in ring...Just just give him Angles Uppercuts and ummm...Unleashed bomb. Ok, I'll stop with my irrational demands now. Lol

21
I requested this one as he's been one of my staples for a long time. The backfire/entangled in the ropes spam-fest is a no brainer. Like it seems with most people's comments, I don't play him so often anymore as - in all honesty - he seems too strong. What I do find is that he forced you to play differently to beat him. I.e no hoarding reversals in hand and limit your pre match targets for his ability. I had a Hall n Nash and a Goldberg build that defeated him due to sustaining damage to lose most reversals in hand and having almost no pre-match for him to target. It then forced him to actually play maneuvers. So, yeah he's very tough to beat, but overall not too OP and actually can make for some interesting games. Just keep his ability use to an absolute minimum. Bottom You have to have a plan B against him.

Extra thought: I realise I'm mostly writing about how to beat this guy. As one of the Peepulation, I should at least offer  something productive for our leader!!! So here we go, one playtip: ALL he needs is Baghdad and dirty low blow to set up the carnage in today's game. I even pack backlash in him because all I mostly care about is getting 4 fortitude. Lol

General Discussion: Raw Deal / Re: Superstar Spotlight: Razor Ramon
« on: December 30, 2017, 05:52:13 AM »
1.)  How viable is this superstar?
The build I went with was absolutely viable. His ability allows him some excellent packing options.

2.)  Is there a Superstar Specific Card that you'd like to spotlight?
His Superstar specific support is really strong. But for me, it's the toothpick - especially as it's RMS now. Opening the game by stripping away TWO key cards? It's not broken but it's very strong. It's also why I went with the Irish whip ACE with lumberjacks setup. Most people upon seeing that setup will (if they have any sense) will search out as many ACE reversals as possible. Razor sees that and says "bye bye ACE reversals" or bye bye "Don't be a douchebag". Ha!

3.)  How have you built said superstar?  How did it work out?
I built a very gimmicky build involving Summer slam Paperview event with 2x lumberjack match. It's susceptible to disruption but if you're not prepared - you will be wrecked! It still works without the lumberjacks though as uses bairhugs to attempt to get good use from his ability. Mean gene and classic moves as backup too.
4.)  How well does the Superstar fare in whichever format you built them in be it VC/VAA/NXT/VR/Non-Virtual
He seems to fair well. I only play virtual classic though. I'm sure, his packing strengths give him a lot of versatility for any format.

5.)  Final Thoughts on this Superstar?
I'm biased because Razor Ramon was one of my all time favourite wrestlers. But even so, he's a strong deck. Bash and chain shots with manager interferes. Heel and face reversals? He has so many strong build options available. Gotta rank as upper tier surely? Irish whip - poke - overturn 10 is hilarious and also slightly disgusting. Haha

Hey all,

Bit of a random post but I'm planning on doing a road trip in the West Coast next year (26th Feb - 16th March) and am planning on spending some time in Socal. I hear the Raw Deal is strong here. Game?

More pre-match = more Ace's. I like to force my opponent to think carefully about how they use their DTTAHs/unscrupulous. Also worth noting, we play a lot of multiplayer in our group so for tournament play I would probably swap out educated feet for It's showtime! Zack Ryder GRA is also a worthy pack.
