Welcome (back) to Raw Deal / Re: Crowdsourcing Virtual Starter Decks
« on: January 09, 2020, 02:08:55 PM »
Shoot CM Punk
He has the popularity to get people interested and also teaches people about some of the interactions of the meta right now with Shoot Lock-ups, maneuvers with restrictions, and how strong Shoot Counter is.
Maybe not use every single one of their superstar specific cards to avoid confusion, but still.

Virtual Raw Deal / Re: The state of Raw Deal going into 2020
« on: December 31, 2019, 06:03:34 PM »
The game is very fringe. It has maybe 10 or 20 people active on Discord, worlds has less people every year, and we may never have a real comeback to the great times of before.

Yet, you guys do an amazing job at keeping alive this game i love so much, that's got me to play people not only from Chile, but from Canada, the US, Philippines, etc.

I hope we can keep it alive for as long as we can, and to be able to help with the task at hand.

Let's make 2020 bigger.

It might be me, but I don't see much reason to build any of the "get things from ringside" decks since Lesnar got his backstage all those years ago. He just outshines other superstars by doing the same thing, but for free and mostly protected.
That brings me to Dean Malenko.

Everytime I get myself to build Dean Malenko, I feel like everything he does could be done easier by Lesnar, with better support and a way better backlash reversal TMF.
Taker recovers stuff from ringside by discarding cards, but he also has much better support and a miriad of builds other than "play psychology".
If you add the fact that other decks don't remove the card plaayed when unsuccessful, I don't see much reason to build the Iceman

This is the last spoiler we'll be sharing before the set releases. Hopefully you'll be able to print and play everything online by the end of the 24th.

How does this interact with Fin Balor? does he get to put the non-chosen cards under his Superstar card?

Hey, everyone. I stayed out of this discussion temporarily while I was double checking my interpretation, but I wanted to issue a clarification here. Eric's misinterpreted how the "Watch Women" cards interact with Lacey's ability and Act Like a Lady.

To pull in the relevant card text:

LACEY EVANS
Starting Hand Size: 5     Superstar Value: 1
Superstar Ability: You may pack cards as if you are a Diva, but you do not count as a Diva. Your cards with 'diva', 'woman' or 'female' in the text or title are considered to have 'lady' in the title. During each of your turns, you may overturn 2 cards to put 1 card with 'lady' in the title removed from the game into your hand.

Act Like a Lady
Pre-match Event
Cannot be blanked. Ignore 'male' and 'female' in the text of your non-Multi cards with 'lady' in the title. Your unsuccessfully played cards with 'lady' in title are removed from the game.
ACE: Once during each of your turns, you may put 1 non-Mid-match card with 'lady' in the title from your Ring under your Superstar card and then draw 1 card. Your maneuvers with 'lady' in the title are +1D for every card under your Superstar card.
F: 0     D: 0     Unique     Permanent

Everyone Wants to Watch Women Wrestle
Action
Can only be packed by a Female Superstar.
When your opponent is a Male Superstar, search his Arsenal for 3 non-unique Maneuver cards, remove them from the game, and he shuffles his Arsenal.
When your opponent is a Female Superstar, this card is -1F, discard this card and your opponent discards 1 card.

F: 1      D: 0

Everyone Wants to Watch Women, Period
Action
Can only be packed by a Female Superstar.
When your opponent is a Male Superstar, he discards 3 cards.
When your opponent is a Female Superstar, this card is -1F, discard this card and draw 1 card.
SmackDown! logo
F: 1      D: 0

Now, the Watch cards (I'll call them that for simplicity's sake) are made into 'lady' cards by Lacey's ability. At this juncture, Act Like a Lady takes effect, and the words "male" and "female" are ignored.

What you have now is the following:

Everyone Wants to Watch Women Wrestle, Lady
Raw logo
F: 1      D: 0

Lady, Everyone Wants to Watch Women, Period
Action
Can only be packed by a Female Superstar.
When your opponent is a Male Superstar, he discards 3 cards.
When your opponent is a Female Superstar, this card is -1F, discard this card and draw 1 card.
SmackDown! logo
F: 1      D: 0

Leaving aside the edge case where Lacey's opponent is not a Superstar (i.e. Extremists), all of the criteria on the card are met. The card calculates Fortitude costs in step 2A, and the cost is reduced by 1 (leaving aside, for the moment, any outside effects that might further impact the card.) The fact that the Fortitude reduction appears in the third paragraph of the text box is irrelevant; Fortitude reduction is typically placed first for ease of reading, but that is a convention, not a requirement of the rules.

At this point, when the card is successful, it looks to see if the opponent is a Superstar. This is normally the case, and each effect triggers in turn. So, for Watch Women Wrestle, once the card is successful, Lacey will search for 3 non-unique maneuvers and remove them from the game, the Arsenal is shuffled, Lacey will discard EWWWWW, and the opponent will discard 1 card. For Watch Women Period, Lacey's opponent will discard 3 cards, Lacey will discard EWWWWP, and Lacey will then draw 1 card.

There is no choosing of effects; there is only a check to see if the opponent is a Superstar or not. If they are, all effects will trigger in turn; if they are not, the card does nothing. Little She Devil is not an appropriate precedent, because that card's modular nature is indicated by the word or in its rules text. The Watch cards do not have or listed, nor is there a "choose one" anywhere on the card. You simply do everything.

I'm sorry if it might sound redundant, but since English isn't my first language, i just want to make sure i'm reading this right.

When i play EWWWW or EWWWP, i get both effects?

« on: August 02, 2019, 09:57:09 AM »
Note - this is not the first time we've had cards packed in the Backstage area, the same rules apply as previous instances.  If it's packed in the Backstage, it's not in the Arsenal/Backlash and doesn't count toward those limitations.

CREED

True, the confusion came from the fact that they are packed in the Backlash, but thanks for the answers :D
Back to brewing.

Piper's Legendary Presence
Backstage Card
When packing this card, you cannot pack Corners, and your Legendary Management, Through All Of These Years and Kickin' It Old School are Rowdy Roddy Piper-specific and can be packed in your Backlash, in addition to your other Backlash cards. Kickin' It Old School cards in your Backlash are played as Mid-match cards.
You are not considered a Legend for your opponent's effects, your maneuvers are considered to have 'sleeper' in the title, and your Superstar-specific actions are Multi and can only be reversed by 2 D: 0 reversals.
When you overturn a maneuver for Hot Rod, put all other cards overturned for that card on the bottom of your Arsenal.

Does the bold text mean that i can pack them besides the max 12 pre-match cards? If not, does Kickin' it old school count as been packed as a mid-match or pre-match?

Will You Stop appears without an image and with it's own Set (V9PT) instead of VirtualClassic

Besides that, and the cards mentioned before, i couldn't find any new cards missing.

The card says multi, but it only says "Action"

12
That's a lot of restrictions on Asuka. I expect her support to make her a monster :D can't wait

13
I just realised the list doesn't contain any remakes. Are any of the two un-revealed superstars remakes by any chance?

14
And to add, it's a "'No' means 'No'" stance, so please - let's not try to hijack the thread any further with it, thank you.

Thus the moving onto guessing about the last two names not yet revealed... heh

CREED

Fair enough.
Back on track, Carmella sounds posible, specially considering she got support last set. Also, taking in consideration that old superstars that are not active today, like The Vaudevillains, are on the set, my money is (still) on Adam Rose coming out eventually.

15
I've been out of the loop for a while, but what's the stance on Cass and Enzo after the events leading up to Enzo's release?

16
I already make bad decks, so HA!

Oh, i'm in.

Classic Raw Deal / Re: Superstar Spotlight: Summer Rae
« on: February 14, 2018, 06:28:35 AM »
1.)  How viable is this superstar?
This is a tricky question, since her viability depends on the factor of "did you get Superior Leg Work on your ring or not".
Most of her superstar specific cards play around countering other divas or giving very small and conditional fortitude, but once Superior Leg Work hits the ring every maneuver you throw becomes a prisoner's dilemma.

2.)  Is there a Superstar Specific Card that you'd like to spotlight?
3, since they are the core of her power.

Fandango's Femme Fatale
Backstage Card
When your maneuver with 'precision' in the title is unsuccessfully played, choose one: your opponent puts 1 random card from his hand on the bottom of his Arsenal, or he discards 1 random Backlash card; when you have lower Fortitude and fewer cards in hand, choose both options, and when you have at least 5 lower Fortitude, you may put Superior Leg Work from your Backlash or Ringside into your Ring.
Unique     RMS logo
V8

It's Summer Time
Pre-match Event
Cannot be blanked.
Your Summer Rae-specific maneuvers and your maneuvers with 'kick', 'leg', 'snap', or 'spin' in the title are also considered to have 'precision' in the title, and your maneuvers with 'precision' in the title are -2F for each maneuver with 'precision' in the title in your Ring.
F: 0     D: 0     Unique     Permanent

Superior Leg Work
Mid-match Action
When this card is in your Ring area, when you successfully play a maneuver, draw 1 card or your opponent discards 1 card.

DO

Thanks to her backstage and It's Summer Time, your Quick Snap Body Slam becomes a nightmare to reverse, combined with Flawless Transition and your first maneuver either becomes free 4 fortitude or "kill 5 cards from your hand just to reverse plus reversals".

3.)  How have you built said superstar?  How did it work out?

Heck, here's my decklist, have fun.

1   WWE Raw Deal Fifth Anniversary
1   WWE Signing Appearance
1   Nostalgia Shenanigans
1   Summer Rae
1   Fandango's Femme Fatale
1   Feminine Wiles

I got to the final of the last Lackey tournament with it (and i swear to god i would have won if i had drawn at least 1 reversal on the finals). Like i said, every move you throw is a prisoner's dilemma, forcing them to discard from Superior Leg Work if successful or forcing them to bury a random card from hand if not.

4.)  How well does the Superstar fare in whichever format you built them in be it VC/VAA/NXT/VR/Non-Virtual
Only built her in VC. She has potential, specially against other divas, but her maneuvers and actions are very lackluster against males.

5.)  Final Thoughts on this Superstar?
She has a lot of potential, and i'm sure a better player would be able to break her.

In order to somewhat reduce the "oh eff i really have no idea how to build this thing" factor, i would like to advocate for a mulligan clause like some random lackey tournaments before, where a player gets a random superstar but may reject it for a second and final draw before superstars are revealed.

My daughter loved the Bayley cards. I downloaded them from lackey, but the pics won't load. I love Beat Up by the Club. So, good.

I had the same problem, but downloading the Zip file and replacing fixes the issue
