Yep. That happened.

I'll be with him the 26th this month in Atlanta for the Days of the Dead convention. If you're in the area, please come by say hi, maybe even buy a signed photo (from Chris, not me - HA!)

General Discussion: Raw Deal / Dragon Con Raw Deal Tournament
« on: September 05, 2018, 07:37:36 PM »
I saw that there was a huge gaming area at this year's Dragon Con. In year's past, I never got the chance to walk around since I was working the entire event, so I was unaware of there being any events like this being held there. Would anyone be interested in a Raw Deal tournament at Dragon Con in 2019? I would fully prize support it, if enough people were interested.

General Discussion: Raw Deal / A Special Moment for Me & VelaCards
« on: September 02, 2018, 10:29:12 PM »
So yeah... this happened tonight (here at Dragon Con)

To anyone who has doubted VelaCards stance within the Raw Deal community, let me share with you what happened this evening. Tonight, I got to be the “celebrity” when Xavier Woods, a life long gamer (of all things, not just wrestling card games), popped when he realized that I am the owner of VelaCards. He stated, (pun intended here for wrestling fans...) And I quote “I know VelaCards!”

We talked, briefly, about deck construction, strategies, his favorite era of the game, his favorite single card (Turn the Tide), the talk of there being a mobile app version of the game and more. To say it was a surreal moment is an understatement.

Honored for the recognition and validation of the efforts I’ve put forth in a community that I have supported in many ways over the better part of 15 years. Great things for the future and just a real special moment for me this evening.

General Discussion: Raw Deal / 2018 Gen Con Prize Support - Follow Up
« on: August 09, 2018, 11:11:40 AM »
Just wanted to touch base with players who attended this year's big event and ask about prize support and if players were happy. It's a difficult task each year, knowing what to supply and how much. So, was there enough? How were the quality of the cards? Are signed 8x10 photos wanted? What can I do better (for next year)?

All comments, thoughts, suggestions are welcomed. Thanks,

General Discussion: Raw Deal / Edge Promo Card Question
« on: September 15, 2017, 06:45:15 PM »
Does anyone know what the card back image for the Edge Promo card is? The E&C is the Backlash ad graphic. Not having an Edge Promo card on hand, I can't confirm what the card back image is of.

For archiving purposes, thanks!

Figured I'd start a thread for results from this weekend's events. To all those who are running things and also to those who are playing/attending, you can use this thread to post your results, pictures, links to videos and everything else pertaining to each Raw Deal event happening this year, including the Finals.

Looking forward to see lots of updates. Have fun, everyone!

General Chat / Microsoft Edge
« on: March 15, 2017, 12:43:36 PM »
I recently stopped using Chrome as my default browser. It was constantly locking up on me and forcing me to have to do a complete reboot in order to get it to work again.

Any ways, I'm now using MS Edge and I actually do like it. Problem is, I can't seem to get any of the emoji icons or any other function to work when creating topics here on TCO (clicking on any of the buttons for say linking a page or adding an image or simply bolding out a word). Anyone have a solution to what I'm sure is a rather easy problem to fix? I'm sure there must be an extension I'm missing or something.

Thanks,
VC

Tournament Announcements / 2017 ACMT Event - Sunday, May 28th, 2017
« on: March 10, 2017, 10:58:16 PM »

2017 Adam Crites Memorial Tournament (ACMT)

For those who plan on returning, thank you for coming out each year like you have been. For those who have never attended, well, you're just missing out on some great fun. You owe it to yourself to make this year's event and experience all the s#%t talking during game play and more importantly, the reminiscing we do about our fallen leader, Adam Crites. It's a 1 time a year event, so your presence would be most welcomed. Move things around, reschedule things if you must, but just get to the event and have some fun!

This year's event is designed to be faster paced and hopefully bring out some old time players who don't have to worry about the ever changing meta of the game. We're not criticizing the current state of the game at all. We are simply looking for a format that brings as many people together and to create a faster turnaround with each game.

------------------------------

- What: The 2017 Adam Crites Memorial Tournament

- Where: The Wrestling Guy Store
               6085 State Street
               Huntington Park, CA. 90255
               (323) 393-3162

- When: Sunday May 28th, 2017
             11am - 6pm

- Format: Classic Cube - There will be no Revolution cards and no Virtual Superstar specific cards in this format (there will, however, be anywhere from 1-10 Virtual, non-Superstar specifics added in). Format details (for those who are not familiar) will be outlined soon.

- Fee: $10

- Prizes: Any combination of the following: RDPC Prize cards including new Backstage Autograph Session cards (cards actually signed by WWE Superstars), DVDs, T-Shirts, Autographed items, Books, Action Figures and who knows what other items! Grand Prize will be announced soon. I can assure you that none of the Virtual cards that will be handed out will be printed on regular paper stock, but on either 8 or 12 point card stock, very similar to that of an actual RD card. Considering one should be sleeved when playing, these will be perfect to add to your collection.

** More Updates will be posted here soon.

Thanks,
VC

Email/PM me if you have any questions. I say it every year, but once again, I would REALLY like to have this be the best turn-out yet!

General Chat / Help Vote For Me...
« on: December 07, 2016, 11:31:43 PM »
Hey guys (and gals?)

For some strange reason, I've been nominated for Best Male Guest for a local, Southern California Indie wrestling podcast interview I did earlier this year. Not sure why they put me on their list, but hell, I'll play along.  :P

http://www.poll-maker.com/poll913002x71c54686-37

Would be cool of you guys would vote for me. Don't wanna have 0 votes! We'll, I'm playing the role of the conceited guy, and gave myself at least one vote. Lol

Thanks,

Supershow Leagues & Tournaments / Supershow In SoCal - Nov 5, 2016
« on: November 06, 2016, 01:39:47 PM »

It happened and you missed it! Shame on you.

A quick recap, since we only had 3 players for this very short event.

Eric - Ricochet
Drew - Jigsaw
Tony - Night Terror

Other than some long winded games (by Supershow standards), which took multiple pinfall attempts each time, it was all Night Terror this time around who went undefeated and was crowned the new Store Champion!

Raw Deal Players Committee / TK Order Update
« on: October 25, 2016, 08:49:48 PM »
If you've ordered a TK in the past couple of weeks, I'm sorry for the delay. In addition to being swamped with work related stuff, I've also been dealing with a massive amount of pain with my teeth. Sad and disgusting story I wish not to bore anyone with, but the pain level finally hit me to a point that I had to take care of it.

So, with that said, I have been way way way behind in getting people's orders out. I'm very sorry about that. They should be arriving soon.

Thanks,
VC

Tournament Reports / Where Are Your Reports?
« on: June 20, 2016, 10:59:47 AM »
To all those who have recently ordered tournament kits...

Where are your tournament reports?

Part of the reason some of you have been allowed to order kits in advance is because at one time you displayed your ability to show you are holding events and reporting back on them. Since this last wave of orders, not a single report.

I, along with many others, would like to see some results to these events you are supposed to be holding/reporting on.  ;)

Tournament Announcements / 2016 ACMT - Adam Crites Memorial Tournament
« on: February 22, 2016, 06:37:05 PM »
Once again ... Prepare yourself ...

The 2016 ACMT event is coming ... to the Wrestling Guy Store!

There have been rumblings that we would no longer hold this event. It was seriously considered, but the thought of not at least getting together once a year to have a fun event was just too awesome to pass up!  ;) This event has been held in such high regard that only the World Championships at Gen Con eclipses it in importance in terms of RAW Deal tournaments. So, another year and another chance for someone to lay claim to being the Best in the West and to help pay tribute to our beloved fallen leader, Adam Crites.

Once again, here are the important "W"s to know ...

- What?: Ahhhhh - Duh! The 2016 Adam Crites Memorial Tournament (ACMT).

- Where?: The Wrestling Guy Store @ 6085 State Street, Huntington Park, CA. 90255 / Phone: (323) 393-3162

- When?: Saturday, June 4th, 2016

- What is the Format?: Virtual Classic - Rules about what will be allowed/banned will be posted soon.

- What is the Fee to play?: $10. All money will go to the City of Hope Cancer Research Center. Any donations are also accepted. To date, we have raise just over $3,000 since the very first ACMT!

- What are the Prizes?: RDPC Prize cards including new Backstage Autograph Session cards (cards actually signed by WWE Superstars/Divas), DVDs, T-Shirts, Autographed items, Books, Action Figures and who knows what other items! Grand Prize will be announced soon. Plus The Wrestling Guy Store has agreed to add additional prizes, too!

Notes: We will also try to have a raffle to help raise more money. Raffle prize(s), if done, will be announced as soon as we have more information.

Come join the fun, the smack talking and help give to a good cause. Even if you can't make the World Championship qualifying event, any donation for the cause is good. PM me for information on where you can send your donation to.

MORE ANNOUNCEMENTS COMING SOON!  8)

Thanks,

General Discussion: Raw Deal / "Complete" Eugene Set - NO!
« on: July 05, 2015, 01:13:27 PM »
Over the years, I have been getting requests for this complete set or that complete set. In most cases, the person asking is legit asking for a true complete set of a particular Superstar. However, recently someone has been asking for a "complete" Eugene set. When I list all the cards that make up said set, they tell me "Where is the Rock's Patented Footstomp and Edge's Running Spear and those Eugene cards?" To which I reply, "Those are not Eugene specific cards." As you can image, this goes back and forth.

The point of this is, THESE are the ONLY Eugene specific cards (not counting Virtual):

Eugene Superstar Card
Armageddon Is Upon Us
Inspiration for a New Generation
Eugening Up
The Pride of the Family
Hello, My Name is Eugene
The Jacket's Coming Off...
I'm Special
The Dream Lives On

There are NO OTHER Eugene specific cards. The above cards constitutes a complete MASTER SET for this Superstar.

Players, stop associating cards that are allowed to be packed/played due to a Superstar ability as part of their Master Set. They are not. Plain and simple. How you wish to build your Superstar is completely up to you, but please don't think that since you can pack it, then it's part of that Superstar's Master Set. I don't hear arguments being made for Corner cards (which would just be stupid).

It's not like we're talking quantum physics here, people.

There ... My rant is over. Sorry. Had to get that off my chest.

Prepare yourself ...

The 2015 ACMT event is coming ...

There was talk that the 2014 (our best turn-out for this annual event, ever) would have been our last one, but oh NO! Another year and another chance for someone to lay claim to being the Best in the West and to help pay tribute to our beloved fallen leader, Adam Crites.

- When: Saturday, June 6, 2015 @ 11am. Will run all day and as long as the store will have us there, into the night.  ;D

- What is the Format: Virtual Classic. This includes all cards released from Premier to Virtual 6. No cards with the Revolution logo will be allowed for the main tournament, but please bring other deck types as we will be having side (POD) events, for both fun and for smaller prizes.

- What is the Fee to play: $10. All money will go to the City of Hope Cancer Research Center. Any donations are also accepted.

- What are the Prizes: RDPC Prize cards including new Backstage Autograph Session cards (cards actually signed by WWE Superstars/Divas), DVDs, T-Shirts, Autographed items, Books, Action Figures and many other items. Winner of this event will automatically be invited to play in the World Championships at GenCon Indianapolis (July 30 - August 2). Of course, the GYOAT rule is in place, so we hope the winner can make it and represent the So-Cal area to make it and bring back the World Championship to SoCal!
