Booby Trap
Reversal: Special
Whenever a card causes you to discard this card, your opponent discards 1 card.
When your opponent successfully plays a card that lets him see your hand, you may discard this card and he discards 2 cards.
When overturned by an Action card or Pre-match card, reverse that card and end your opponent’s turn. You may put this card into your hand.
F: 2 D: 0

I understand that this does not work with discarding for superstar abilities as noted in the FAQ.  The questions that I did not see answers to in the FAQ are these.

1.  If I discard it to Sustained Damages effect to reduce damage will my opponent discard a card?

2.  If I discard it for the chain trait after damage has been applied to search for another chain card or discarding to the chain trait to reverse a chain card does it force a discard on my opponent?

3.  Does this card's effect work on something like Chicago Street Fight in my ring area when discarding to get a Foreign Object back?  If it doesn't work when Chicago Street Fight in my ring area does it work when Chicago Street Fight is in my opponent's ring area?

4.  Last question.  Does discarding this card to a Shoot Headlock effect in my ringside pile cause a discard for my opponent?

Just trying to figure out precisely how this card functions from a trigger causing my opponent to discard perspective.

Classic Deck Reviews / John Cena

BASH Aerial Clothesline
High-Flying Hurricanrana
BASH Drop Kick

The deck can be very hard hitting.  It has been performing extremely well, but it is beatable.  I do have concerns about the power level of Cena mainly due to the cards Yo Kill Da Beat and 12 Rounds.  YKDB provides a negative play experience, and 12 Rounds is so over powered.  I don't recall losing a game after activating 12 Rounds.  Personally, I think 12 Rounds should be calmed down some.

Classic Raw Deal / Gencon 2015 Grab Bags...Need Your Thoughts
« on: May 26, 2015, 02:06:33 PM »
Not sure if this is the right place to post this as I am looking to get feedback.  If not, please redirect me with where to post.  I was thinking of doing a special raw deal grab bag at gencon this year at one of my friend's booths, and I am curious to other players' thoughts to see if there would be enough interest in this.  I was thinking of making 200 grab bags each containing 7 rares, 1 ultra rare, and 1 ss3 foil for $5.  There would also be 10 god packs(all ultra rares).  There would also be the following cards within the 200 grab bags:  2 First To Tap Match TB, Patented Rock Footstomp TB, Help's On the Way, Armageddon Is Upon Us, 2 TLC Match TB, Ric Flair Interferes, I've Got Two Words For Ya SS3, and DTA TB.  I think this would be a quality grab bag thing to do, but I am not sure if the demand is there.  Please let me know if you think this is something you would like as a player and collector.

Fantasy Cards / Absolute Raw Deal (Fantasy Subset)
« on: April 08, 2015, 11:37:09 AM »
Hey guys.  Had some time to kill, so I thought I would make a fantasy subset kind of like absolute raw ultimate smackdown.  Obviously, cards have not been tested.  Let me know what you think.

I know that flipped over cards still have their title while in play, but is a backlash deck card flipped over no longer considered a backlash deck card. Basically, If I have Road To Victory in play and flip it over, does this card take up a midmatch slot?

Your Reach Exceeds Your Grasp
Mid-match Reversal: Special
Reverse any non-Superstar specific card with printed Fortitude greater than your opponent's Fortitude Rating, or any Multi Volley maneuver; he puts the reversed card into his hand.
ACE: During your turn, you may remove this card from the game and then ignore all play restrictions from his effects for the rest of the turn.  This effect cannot be reversed.

Win If you Can, Lose if you Must, But Always Cheat
Action: Heel
Cannot be packed by The Heat Seekers.
When this card is unsuccessfully played, put it in your Ring instead.
Put up to 3 cards that are Heel and/or Cheater from your Ringside into your hand, and put up to 1 card from your Ringside on top of your Arsenal.
ACE:  Once during each of your turns, discard 1 Backlash card and 2 cards from hand, and then put 1 Backlash card from your Ringside into your Backlash.
F: 8     D: 2     Unique     Cheater logo     RMS logo

Let's say that you somehow have less than eight fortitude and can play WIYC,LIYM,BAC.  If my opponent plays Your Reach Exceeds Your Grasp what happens?  I am asking because one card says to put WIYC,LIYM,BAC back into your hand and WIYC,LIYM,BAC's text states to put it in your ring instead.

Rules Forum / Baghdad, Iraq

Baghdad, Iraq
Pre-match Venue: Heat
Cannot be packed by 1-2-3 Kid, Christy, Eve, Kane, Paul Burchill, Sandman or The Second Coming.
When this card is in your Ring and you are not Muhammad Hassan or The Iron Sheik, before each of your Draw Segments, your opponent may overturn 1 card and flip 2 cards in his Ring face-down; if he does, you overturn 2 cards.
ACE: Once during any players' turn, he may move this card from any Ring to any other Ring, and then discard 1 card and 1 Backlash card.
F: 0     D: 2     Universally Active      Permanent

A couple questions with this one.  When can your opponent use this effect?  Can he only use it on his turn? Is he allowed to use it's effect on my turn?  If I have It's Hard Being This Original in play and I flip over cards, do the flipped over cards still count towards restricting me from playing other copies of that card to my ring area from It's Hard Being This Original?

Managed by Eric Bischoff - Throwback
Pre-match Manager
When you have an nWo card in your Ring, your Starting Hand Size is +2.  Your opponent's Starting Hand Size is -1.
When packing this card, your Backed by Eric Bischoff cards are not Heel or Raw; when that card is played, it is F: 0, can only be reversed by Unique reversals, and when successfully played draw up to 1 card.
F: 0     D: 0     Universally Unique     RMS logo     WCW logo

I just want to make sure I am interpreting this card correctly.  As long as you are packing this card you can pack Backed by Eric Bischoff.  Does it only gets the cost reduction, reversal clause, and card draw when Managed by Eric TB is in play?  Can you pack Managed by Eric TB and have Backed by Bischoffs modified without having Managed be Eric TB in play?

Rules Forum / Permanent Trait
« on: February 19, 2015, 07:11:08 PM »
Permanent is a trait.  Traits can not be modified by blanking.
If a card is permanent, it can still remove itself.  A card is considered to be removing itself if it leaves the Ring Area due to an effect in its own text (even if an opponent controls this effect).

Can you gain control of someone's card if it has the permanent trait?  Basically, can I move my opponent's Wrestlemania to my ring area?  I couldn't tell from the FAQ whether permanent just meant it 1. couldn't be removed like with Simply the Best and it's own effect or 2. if it could not leave your ring area.  I remember this coming up 4 months ago, but we were not certain how to rule it.

Rules Forum / It's Showtime and Buying Myself Some Time ruling
« on: October 29, 2014, 01:50:49 PM »
If my opponent has It's Showtime in play and I start the game can I use Buying Myself Some Time's effect if I meet the requirements.

Buying Myself Some Time
Mid-match Action
Can only be packed by a Superstar with a printed Starting Hand Size or 5 or less.  Cannot be packed by Eugene or Test.
Before your Draw Segment of your first turn, when this card is in your Backlash and you have less than 6 cards in your hand, and you do not have a card with 'interest' in the title in your Ring, and your Enforcer is not Test, you may put this card into your Ring; draw up to 2 cards, your opponent’s Ability is blank until the start of your next turn, and he skips his next Draw Segment.
F: 0     D: 0     Unique

Fantasy Cards / Three fantasy cards.

All Talk No Action Throwback
Reversal: Any non-Superstar Specific Antic or Action
When packing this card you can not pack any  Antics or Actions.
Draw 2 cards.
F:0          D:2

Not According To the Fine Print Throwback
Reversal: Special
Can only be played when a card in your ring area has "Linda" or "McMahon" in the text or title or if you are Vince McMahon.
Reverse any card that has been modified.
F:0           D:0   RMS

Some Superstar Who Needs A Remake
SHS: 8
SSV: 4
Once during your turn, you may discard one card and then search your arsenal for a card with the same fortitude cost as the card discarded and put it into your hand or ringside pile.

These are just ideas to spark ideas.  I like seeing the game guided towards throwing maneuvers back and forth as that seems like the healthiest state of the game.  Making a new Volley This type of card (All Talk No Action TB) plays into it with a severe packing restriction.  Not According To the Fine Print as I would like to see it more effective.  A superstar ability that would be fun to build around yet be challenging at the same time.  Obviously, SSV and SHS are determined through playtesting, but I thought the ability could be pretty fun and tricky.

Revolution WWE Tag Team Title Belts
Pre-match: Object
Draw up to 1 card and your Superstar Value is +1; when you are a Tag Team, double those numbers and your Pre-match Capacity is +1.
Universally Unique

I like the card.  I am just trying to see what superstars can play it.  Can a superstar like the Hardy Boyz play this?  Does this only get the bonus when someone plays 2 players versus 2 players in a tag format match?  I am just curious as to if the early tag teams like two man power trip and hardy boyz can pack this and get the bonus of it.

If I have Yo Kill Da Beat in play The Marine Taunt only starts the match for you, right?  Just curious as to if the semicolon separates the next sentence from the "If you don't have Yo Kill Da Beat" text.

Rules Forum / DX Crotch Chop Two Man Power Trip
« on: September 03, 2014, 11:13:55 AM »
So the card DX Crotch Chop states Can not be packed by Two Man Power Trip.  Two Man Power Trip states it can only pack superstar foils.  Can Two Man Power Trip pack Virtual cards with the HHH or Stone Cold logo?  Are they considered to be foil for purposes of other cards that search for foils?  I assume the answer is they can not.  My other question if this is true is "What is the point of having this text on the card if they can't pack it to begin with.  I started looking at playing Two Man Power Trip again, but they just seem too weak to play nowadays.  Just curious as to why this text is there.

Rules Forum / Show must go on
« on: April 27, 2014, 08:05:31 AM »
Quick question.  I have the show must go on in play.  At least 3 cards have been played this turn.  My opponent plays you're as graceful as a cow on ice to my next card played.  Can I use the show must go on's activated card effect to stop cow from reversing my card played.  Just trying to understand within the rules how the show must go on is supposed to function.  Basically, is it to be used before you play your third card to be able to play two more cards before your opponent can cow? Or is it meant to be a cow reversal?  Any help would be very much appreciated.

Classic Raw Deal / Raw Deal Cube
« on: April 23, 2014, 03:27:09 PM »
Everyone has been asking about the raw deal cube recently.  I am posting it here as this introduction should answer any questions you may have.

Hey all.  James Kandziolka here.  I had left playing raw deal over the past five years or so to pursue other hobbies.  Recently, Pat Eshghy and I were on a road trip talking about cubes and how much we loved the WOW TCG Cube (another now dead card game).  The conversation turned into two little kids on Christmas morning talking about designing a raw deal cube. What started as just an idea consumed my mind over the past week and led me to design the following raw deal cube.  There is an additional step when cubing in raw deal, but I will describe it in detail a bit later.  Ultimately, raw deal was such an enjoyable card flopping moment in my life, and I know that a cube will allow future moments with old friends and card floppers to enjoy some sweet nostalgia while getting that card gaming fix.
What is a cube?  For those of you who are new to the concept of a cube, the general concept is quite simple: a cube is a pool of cards that can be randomized, organized into packs, and used to draft. Regardless of the type of cube you prefer, the truth remains that cube drafting is one of the most skill-intensive limited formats around. The way that cubes are designed makes it so that each card in the pool is of a fairly similar quality. This creates an unusual situation where every card in all of the packs is at least considerable for a player's deck. You might expect that since each card is relatively good that the decisions are easier since you have more reasonable choices. The opposite is actually true. There are going to be cards that are much better in one deck type than another, even though both are still quite good.
Raw deal had raw draft in the past.  This was the closest the game ever got to a limited format, but it would equate to a sealed deck format.  We tried drafting raw deal in the past, but you could tell it just was not designed to be drafted.  Loving the limited format in card games more than the constructed, I remember wanting this for raw deal back in the day.  Sadly, it was not really achievable.  Creating a cube would allow this once defeated idea to become a reality.  I can see the toughts of “Do I first pick Backlash since the odds of someone having that one Backlash in a cube is so low?” “Can I wheel these Face cards around the table?” “Should I jump out of some superstar specifics because I want to draft Raw when some of my superstar specifics are Smackdown?” This is also the first iteration of a raw deal cube, so I am looking for feedback and your thoughts.  Please comment and share what you like or dislike.  The better the feedback, the better the cube is for all of us.
The current raw deal cube is 560 cards. I hand selected cards from the revolution sets to be in the cube.  There are only cards that interacted with pre-Revolution cards in the classic raw deal sense.  I am not knocking revolution era raw deal.  I just preferred to design my cube this way.  Feel free to use this first model to design your own cube off of it.  Strikes, grapples, and submissions are evenly distributed among the non-0 cost maneuvers.  There are high risks in the cube as well, but about 100 of the maneuvers in the cube cost 0 fortitude.  They are too crucial to play the game that we love.  I strongly recommend not pulling these out of the cube when designing your own.
Completely randomize the cube.  This may take 10 minutes as you really want it shuffled up.  Each player will make 5 packs with 14 cards in each pack.  Once the packs are made you are ready to start drafting.  With most other games’ cubes you just draft and build.  Raw deal has the added power of superstars and their specifics.  After some tweaks, there are 48 superstar sets to be played with the cube.  Certain superstars (Andre, Carlito, etc.) were excluded from the list of superstars due to their ability being too strong for gameplay.  You will see that there are only five cards attached to each superstar.  So how do we determine which superstar you are?  You randomly select a number of superstars equal to the number of people drafting the cube.  Now, players will be bidding a number from 1 to 5 on superstars and the cards in their pool.  Randomly determine who starts the bidding.  If you win Eddie Guerrero and his pool after bidding 3, you will select 3 of his superstar specifics in his pool to not have access to during deck building.  You determine which cards you won’t use after you have drafted cards for your deck.  You don’t do it right there on the spot in the bidding process.  Eventually the last person will get the last superstar, but they are not required to bid a number.  The advantage of getting the last pick is that you get access to all 5 superstar specifics where everyone else has to lose at least one.  Now you enter the draft portion.  Look at your first pack.  Pick one card.  Put it face down in front of you and pass the pack face down to your left.  Everyone else will be doing this at the same time.  Everyone does this for all 12 of their picks in pack one.  The cards you are picking are the cards you are building your deck with.  The second pack you will be doing the same thing except this pack goes to the right.  The third pack to the left.  The fourth pack to the right.  The last pack to the left.  Now you have sixty cards, your superstar, and some superstar specifics to build a deck.  Each player will also have access to 3 Step Aside, 3 Escape Move, 3 Break the Hold, 3 Oversell Maneuver/No Sell Maneuver (depending on your superstar), 1 Elbow to the Face, and 1 You're As Graceful As A Cow On Ice during deck building.  If the draft went bad for you reversal wise, don’t worry as you have access to these reversals when you start deck building.  You do not have to use all or any of them.  You just have access to them like everyone else at this point in time.  Remember you are still restricted by the rules that you can not pack face cards while packing heel cards, raw cards while packing smackdown cards, and cheater cards while packing fan favorite cards.  The only adjustment to previous rules in the game is that female superstars are allowed to play multi maneuvers where they previously could not.  Basically, ignore the “can not be played by female superstars” text on multi maneuvers.  Now you build your deck and start playing some games.
