Old School Wrestling Match - Throwback
Pre-match Stipulation
If any player's turn ends without attempting to play a maneuver, he overturns 6 cards.  Turns cannot be skipped, and non-Superstar-specific cards cannot prevent an opponent from playing maneuvers.
When Back to Basics is in your Ring, your Pre-match Capacity is +3, and your opponent cannot play I'm Gonna Break You.

His cards and effects cannot prevent you from playing Actions, and when his Fortitude Rating is 5+, he removes 3 additional cards from the game for his Volley This! cards.

As we're waiting for v9

One issue I have in raw deal is that long time ago the game started off with strike, grapple, submissions, (also high risks and tmf), but ever since v17 Unforgiven, because of "a revolution of the mind", i feel that one card almost single handedly changed the way players defend because of its efficiency, pack 3 ROTM instead of 6-9 step/escape/break. You even get 1F and draw 1 card! Granted, legendary defense came out but still it is used the same way: 1 card = 0f, reverse "all 3" types.

So here i present an alternative solution which hopefully one day might be considered by the committee...


Old School Defense
Pre-match event
Can be played from ringside, cannot be blanked, and your opponent cannot prevent you from playing this card.
Cannot be packed when packing legendary defense.
You cards titled Step Aside, Escape Move, and Break the Hold have the following added text:
"When played from your hand, you may promo:2 and put one card from your ringside to the bottom of your arsenal. When this card is in your ring area, your fortitude is +2. When this card is overturned for damage, you may remove this card from the game to completely reverse that maneuver, and you have lower fortitude, you may ignore all
 reversal restrictions from your opponents cards and reverse that maneuver."

Hopefully this brings some alternative options for players and also brings back the good old days of choosing between Strike, grapple or submission !
Even if this doesn't happen, i hope you enjoy the idea :)

Virtual Raw Deal / History of game changing cards

While lurking around the forum, I realized most of my posts are about rules.
It’s time for a little change... so, just some background of myself
Started raw deal when I was in primary 5 in Singapore (11 years old.. oh my), fully loaded expansion back in 2001. Some breaks in the game here and there. Played all the way till v7 (little bit of v8/VHS2) and thanks to real life I had to cut back on playing. Still have 40 odd physical decks sitting around (Thanks to the tb/proxies, no i don’t have 40 OG restricted use... most of the $ was spent on card sleeves! )

Anyways, basically there has been some cards that came came out during each era that were groundbreaking and influenced it’s own era of game tech, and here is my list over the last 17 odd years. This post is Just for a little nolstalgia, a little reflection of the game’s history, hopefully relatable to you so enjoy and do feel free to add ;). I’ll do 5 sets a post.

*some groundbreaking cards refer to the impact made at that period of time. Some cards were later “nerfed”, while some continued to impact play up to today.

Also I’ll grade the cards in brackets below:
level 1 (noticeable card)
Level 2 (something players took advantage of/ had to look out for)
Level 3 (disrupted / huge impact on the game)

Premiere:
As the first set, there is no legacy to change but elbow to the face actually survived almost 18 years (still counting lol). One of the best defenses early game and players will always try to get rid/avoid this smack in the face (3)

Manager interferes - another one that survived all the generations. A must pack for every heel deck (2)

Fully loaded:
Turn the tide: down 30 f? No problem. With no beating the odds/sidewalk slam tb etc, the game could completely flip with ttt + tmf. Brought back to life in v4 with mean gene , and then back into the old shoebox with the revision lol (2)

JBI: back then, action reversals were pretty limited. Also made players think twice before playing that second action. Ego boost + Commissioner rules? Just bring it. (2)

Backlash:
Backlash: Personally I think this card changed the pace and to some degree the level of aggression in the field forever. Players would always think twice before hitting that unprotected, non high risk second move when they are up, fearing that big slap. Also, it’s a 0f backlash reversal... I would say it is pretty reliable lol (3)

Old school wrestling match: admit it, To a small degree this made the order of playing your pre match a little more conscious one ;) (2)

Clutch onto opponent + apply illegal leverage: ahh, one of the earliest combos in the game. Face it, you ever considered packing clean break just to see the look of your opponent’s face if u actually reversed the move. Also i believe cards were created later on to slightly break this combination (2)

Fans love an underdog : * cough cough * Eddie Guerrero . This card actually got banned for a while. What more can I say? (2)

IAATG:
Nothing really

Mania:
Mania: play this card you win the game via count out?? At that time it was a pretty cool card to use. Till today, it’s still a plan B to skirt the wrestlemanias and stall decks (1)

Fortitude surge:
Back in the day fortitudes plunging was an effective way to beat down an opponent, with cards like get crowd support, bait opponent, even throw into the corner turnbuckles. My personal guess is this card was made to directly counter fans love an underdog. And it still saved you from getting beat turn 1 (2)

Pump kick: With taunt the fans, My personal favorite pretty safe way to get 4F. (1)

It’s showtime: gave lower sv stars to get turn 1 (1)

May I know if I choose the "remove from game instead", is the shuffle 5 non reversal cards in addition to the shuffle 2x superstar value from wrestlemania?

If it is in addition, can I shuffle cards that were removed from game due to "shuffling back from wrestlemania itself, thus removing heat cards"" ?

Can ruthless aggression tb be aced to continue the turn when opponent uses the effect of "it's showtime?"
Showtime states "end your opponents turn" and its Not a reversal. But just wanted to be sure!

Ruthless: "When he ends your turn with an effect that does not come from a reversal card, put this card into your Ringside to continue your turn."

Showtime: "When this card is in your Ring area, if it is the first turn of the game, you may reveal your hand to your opponent before his Draw Segment, overturn 2 cards, and end your opponent's turn. "

Here's my first VC tournament personal report...

I ran a Rated RKO deck (6-0)

Snapshot of deck construction:
Heel/Smackdown/Cheater

Prematch:
Venue: parts unknown to +3 hs, +2 to opponent so they will have discard for new era
Rules were meant to be broken to cycle Destiny / Blindsides, as Volley this will not have use for >1f actions
Frankie to end game with RKO/Edgecution/edge o matic, also preventing fort plunging / playing by the rules tB


Style;
-Get to 5f Via Ego-assault
-laying the smacketh down to fuel smackdown protected maneuvers + hs with premiere smackdown ss
-No show to get bait opponent (which is hard to reverse because of HIAC)
-Spam SS actions (never gonna stop me, milion dollar smile) with Destiny if reversed
-Legend killer + MDS to hit unique/vickie protected maneuvers (eg. Key lock) to prevent Sidewalk slam TB
-I'm just a puppet to search for Billion dollar princess (with ego assaults 2 SV) into RKO / Mania

First match:
Rated RKO vs Chavo guerrero (Bigfreakred)
I knew he had Ultimo re chavo, basically back and forth with me reversing his vickie protected perfectly executed tope suicide lariat with GTFO, others with anything and hate it and MIs. Pulled of strategy and NEVER GONNA STOP ME to finish the game off with a protected running clothesline TB

Second match
Rated RKO vs Last outlaw (Deburaito)
Early match-up with Vincent, i knew it was going to be the toughest match in the tourney due to his unpredictable style.
He ran a heat last outlaw with afterburn/backfire. He gained a quick 17F with Turn up the heat and TTT into whirlwind kick and MOD.
From there he reversed everything I threw with a hand of read, however my rules were meant & destiny kept the actions at bay.
Couldn't find an opening and stuck at 5F, until he used Takin care of business from RFG (wrestlemania already discarded with san diego), and Edge countered with an Ax Kick! (nice 5f bridge to 11F). At that point he had 7 HS, I used destiny to refuel and search for Youngest champ in WWE history to discard his hand.
NEVER GONNA STOP ME!!!


Third match
Rated RKO vs Brock lesnar (WWWYKI)
Another vickie deck (whatsupwitdat), Tiansheng ran premiere smack with all the prematch +2 HS from backstage warm up, +2 for Parts unknown into a massive hand.
I muttered "bad for you" with a grin, wondering if he knew about who's in the new era of wwe!
Distractingly divalicious from brock lesnar stopped Edge and Randy from an ego driven assault. collegiate champ Brock lesnar was ACE-ed, and it was a tough call in the early stage of the match whether to use my DTTAH. After considering the tradeoffs, I decided not to reverse as I still had NGSM mm reversal.
After baiting opponent, I threw protected maneuvers and got in NGSM.

Fourth match
Rated RKO vs Devils favourite Demon (Naitchng)
Having previously built DFD, I roughly knew the playing style and used that to my advantage. Unfortunately the night before I suggested for daryl to add Mean gene/TTT into the build. Protected "unlimited" multi cannot be reversed maneuvers were tough to defend against.
The match was based of many tough calls for both of us. I basically had to fuel and save reversals and defend by predicting his moves, with the toughest decision whether to keep him at low fortitude (which i have to use restricted use in the match early, and risk having TTT/tombstones).
After getting reversed both ways, I finally broke through the wall of defense. Daryl got his turn and TTT into a Tombstone, which i kept 2x SS to reverse.
However, even with NGSM, i didnt want to run into his wrsetlemania (Due to the format, you can activated wrestlemania to shuffle both players hands in, but RSP cannot be recovered). This mean that I would be vulnerable to a Embrace the hate comeback, with no Hand, and my own wrestlemania therefore being useless.
Searched out Mania with You're just a puppet and took the Count out.

Semis
Was announced to face CM Punk (Daniel) AKA mr 2015 Hell in a cell, but due to point differential, faced off with Daryl again.
Match was similar and ended with mania

Finals
Rated RKO vs Brock lesnar

A magical back by vince mcmahon appeared and TS took the loss. (both shook hands and we all went for dinner)

Overall, happy to see some new faces, unfortunately (Again) didnt manage to have match ups with them.
Would like to thank the organizer Vincent and other players for the good saturday (even though i probably pissed them off, actually maybe just good buddy daryl with Never gonna stop me!!) Hope to see more faces in future

ERRATA: The ability now begins with the text: “You cannot pack any Pre-match cards except the card titled Managed by Stacy Keibler, it is not a Heel card, and before the Pre-match you may put up to 2 into play.  You may not pack more than 2 of any non-unique card.  You may pack up to 2 of all Unique cards.”

-He cannot pack any other Pre-match cards, including those with RMS.  They cannot be packed in his Backlash deck, with the exception of Backstage Shenanigans, since it can be packed as a Mid-match card.

-Test can pack Faction Pre-match cards, as they are Superstar-specific and can be packed by any Superstar.  He can pack 2 copies of the same card, as they are Unique, but his Backlash deck cannot exceed 10 Pre-match cards.


Question:
1. The above states that test can pack BS shenanigans. Can it be packed as a pre-match? (meaning test still has 12+6 mid match packing left).
2. Can test pack hart family foundation? (pre match Faction that does not state "can be packed by any superstar)

is it possible to have virtual tbs for some of the very hard to find cards?
I know there are for AIUU, freaks are cool tb etc

I know there are some awesome proxies, but this would be helpful to getting more friends into tourneys
Eg. Patented Rock footstomp tb, first to tap out match tb, dta tb

When packing this card, you cannot pack ECW cards, but you can pack up to 10 cards with 'diversion' or 'keibler' in the title in your Backstage Area, and your Keibler's Cookies is not Heel; when you reveal this card, put up to 1 Keibler's Cookies from your Backstage Area into your Ring, and shuffle the rest of those cards into your Arsenal.

I've always been keen for some way to create new combinations for deck building to encourage more creativity, but not to disrupt the overall game play. (hopefully something like that can become a promo next time). This idea was inspired by the Nexus/Spirit squad and Corners concept.

Well without much further ado, this is what I came up with:

Team WWF
Starting Hand Size: 5     Superstar Value: 5
Stable Superstar Ability: You may pack Stone Cold, Undertaker/Deadman, Kane, Kurt Angle and Chris Jericho superstar cards in your backstage. You may pack up to one superstar specific reversal, maneuver and action in your arsenal for each of those superstars. However, you may not play them unless their respective superstar cards are revealed.
You may pack cards with both the raw and smackdown logo. You may not pack any cards with WCW, ECW or NWO logo or non-superstar specific trademark finishers.

Backstage Card
Before each of your draw segments, you may overturn one card and hide all superstar cards (other than Team WWF) and reveal one superstar card. Whenever your opponent successfully plays a 15d+ maneuver or trademark finisher, remove your revealed non Team WWF superstar card from the game, and reveal a new superstar card.
Your revealed superstar’s ability is added to Team WWF’s ability until it is hidden.
Ignore the ‘you may not play…” text on your WWE homecoming. It is considered superstar specific.

Your superstar specific cards do not take up a pre-match slot in your ring.
When packing this card, you may choose to pack The Rattlesnake, The Phenom, Big freaking machine, Your freakin’ hero or Highlight of the night superstar cards instead of Stone Cold, Undertaker, Kane, Kurt Angle and Chris Jericho respectively (You may choose any number to superstars to be replaced). However, packing of superstar specific cards are not affected by this.

This card is considered to have all WWF, WCW and ECW logos. Can be packed regardless of superstar ability.
ACE: During any turn when your opponent plays a card, you may remove 1 D6+ card in your ring from the game, remove one hidden superstar card from the game, discard 3 cards, and overturn 3 cards to ignore a card played (including reversals), remove that card from the game, and it is considered not played. If that card was a reversal, your opponent may still attempt to reverse with another card. This ACE cannot be reversed.
