Virtual Raw Deal / Re: Wacky Deck Ideas
« on: July 02, 2020, 05:43:42 PM »
I once won a tournament in the early days of Virtual with Randy Orton, and the only Set-up Action that I packed (besides Destiny, natch) was 15 copies of Money Talks, "BS" Walks!.

Incidentally, I won at least one match because of running Money Talks, "BS" Walks!, because the Action removal on the card stripped away the Volley This that was giving the Shelton player enough Fortitude for I've Seen The Light.

As it turns out, the one loss that DX had was from one of my local guys, running the A-Train deck that I played and went 3-1 with in Worlds the next day.

Ladies, gentlemen, otherkin, folk of all identities. My friends.

I have had the opportunity to be Your Raw Deal Rules Manager ever since Virtual 1, all of those years ago. I've met so many incredible people through this game. I've been all the way to the top, flown with the giants and beaten my foes through sheer, unadulterated bluffing, and I've been doing everything that I can to ensure that this game that we all love is at its brightest and its best, in every way that I can.

Unfortunately, everything changes, and everything has to end.

My life is changing, my friends. More importantly, Raw Deal is changing, and I am absolutely certain that it is in the best hands that I could put it in, or it would not be in those hands to begin with. The changing of the guard means that it's time for some new blood in the Rules Manager position. I've been keeping an eye out for the past few months, and I found the perfect man for the job.

My final act as the Raw Deal Rules Manager is to appoint dilbert505 to the position. I am intensely fortunate to be able to choose my successor, and I know, one hundred per cent, that Dilbert is the man for the job. From this moment forward, he's the man. His rulings are the top. I'll still be around to help out, do what I can behind the scenes when I have time, but Dilbert is going to be your go-to for rules and rulings for Raw Deal, in all of its incarnations.

It has been my pleasure and privilege, dear friends. Until we meet again.

P.S. Keep an eye on VelaCards in the future. There may be a surprise in store...

P.P.S. I'm sorry for inflicting Vickie Guerrero on you all. The design sounded a lot cooler in my head. EXCUSE ME!

Yeah, he's moving Comedy Skit, and the text doesn't have anything like "and then you put this card into your Ringside" to nullify Judos. Judo away.

He and I are friends on Facebook, and as far as I can tell, he's doing all right.

FAQ:
Trait
<snip>
-Sub-classes will only affect one part of a hybrid card, such as Multi, Chain, Heat, Volley, Stun Value, Run-in and Set-up.

It's only a Run-in on the part that says "Run-in."

Virtual Raw Deal / Re: Not completely reversing a multi
« on: April 19, 2020, 08:00:32 AM »
In general, the only effects of reversals to Multis that require fully reversing the card are ones that try to move the reversed card. I Gotta Say, Out of Play can't remove a Flurry of Strikes from the game if it's the first reversal, because Flurry is still resolving and that'd be dirty pool.

Of course, card text trumps that.

Turban Case can trigger any number of times per movement. If your opponent uses Thrust Knee Lift, both cards that they tried to remove can slide under the Turban Case. (If we meant it to be 1 card per effect, we'd say "your opponent's effects would move any number of cards, put 1 of them under this card instead.")

Maharaja has to trigger first, because it influences the number of cards moved. Turban Case comes in once the number is dialed in and your opponent is actually moving things, so it'd be too late to drop the number of cards moved at that point. However, remember that Maharaja's reduction is optional; if you'd reduce a movement to 0, you can choose to let that movement go at full strength to put the cards under the Turban Case instead.

Maharaja does affect the number of cards moved by the Volley trait. If # is equal to or higher than the Volley number, then you won't move anything and the card still gets reversed. (This is the same rationale as drawing off of an Ego Boost discarded to the Chain trait.)

Virtual Deck Reviews / Re: Cody Rhodes - Disfigured
« on: April 06, 2020, 04:53:04 AM »
Here I was thinking the 1 card from hand part on Luck is for Losers only works if the opponent has Old School Psychology out.

It does not. The comma separates the Ringside bit out from the hand bit; the Ringside bit is the only one that cares about your opponent's Psychologies.

A card being played is in no zone. This movement to the null zone is the very first step of the Timing Sequence (link in my signature!), and happens before the Fortitude check. The maneuver does not discount itself.

Treat them as the same title, just like Don't You Never... EVER! and Don't You Never... Eeeeeeeever!.

« on: March 28, 2020, 08:06:30 AM »
The third clause on MY Hometown's effect is a constraint to the second clause. It is not a continuous effect. This Is MY Hometown! does not restrict the player from doing anything after it finishes its Timing Breakdown.

I'll see about making that clearer in the next revision.

Yes, you would add an additional Enforcer ability to your current retinue, whatever that happens to be at the moment.

« on: January 02, 2020, 11:56:06 AM »
YES! Lock only removes the last reversal to it. If the first reversal overturned completely reverses it, it'll get removed. Otherwise, the first reversal will just go to Ringside and the second will trigger the "reversed from Arsenal" clause on YES! Lock.

Can Stacy Evans pack both Feminine Wiles and Era of the Superstar?

No, and neither can Lacey Evans. The "you can't pack cards as if you were a Diva" text on The Era of the Superstar supersedes Lacey's permission from her Ability. You get one or the other, not both.

Virtual Raw Deal / Re: question about Nwo T-shirt (TB)
« on: December 13, 2019, 04:13:56 PM »
Bronco Buster has no "can only be played after..." text to ignore. T-Shirt is looking for that exact combination of words; things that have similar meaning but different construction do not apply.

Rules Forum / Re: Managed by sharmell searching without sharmell cards?
« on: December 02, 2019, 11:26:08 AM »
Whenever you search a zone that is not public knowledge, you can fail to find and the game simply moves on. If you search a public knowledge zone, like the Ringside, then you can only fail to find if there's legitimately not a qualifying card to find, since your opponent can verify that there is something valid to find or not.

Rules Forum / Re: Maneuvers/cards from ringside Aces?
« on: December 02, 2019, 11:24:43 AM »
An effect is an Activated Card Effect if it A) comes from a card in your Ring, B) has a cost to activate it, and C) produces a discrete effect for that cost. If any of those letters are missing, it's not an ACE. Card is not in your Ring (Ringside / RFG / opponent's Ring)? Not an ACE. Card has no cost ("when you successfully play a maneuver, draw a card")? Not an ACE.

BASH isn't technically a trait, but we hacked it on there because we wanted that functionality.

There is no difference between "maneuver with BASH in the title" and "BASH maneuver." You can search for Spinning Wrist Lock Hammerlock... of Doom as if it has BASH in the title when you have a maneuver with BASH in the title in your Ring.

No. The card would have to specifically make his cards WCW to do that. He just becomes a WCW Superstar for things that care about that.

Q6: You don't need a card in hand to reverse with Plan B. You'll bottom a card if you have one; if you don't, that effect just does nothing and you move on.

Everything else in this thread is correct. In future, though, please avoid doing these question megathreads, as they make the Rules Forum harder to search for other users. Make each question its own thread, thank you.

I've excised the pointless rabbit trail from this thread so it can focus on the correct answer: Witte Retort doesn't change the fact that cards were discarded.

Correct. If you want to play cards after Irish Whip with The Total Package, then you have to actually play Irish Whip.
