Virtual Raw Deal / Re: question about Nwo T-shirt (TB)
« on: December 13, 2019, 04:13:56 PM »
Bronco Buster has no "can only be played after..." text to ignore. T-Shirt is looking for that exact combination of words; things that have similar meaning but different construction do not apply.

Rules Forum / Re: Managed by sharmell searching without sharmell cards?
« on: December 02, 2019, 11:26:08 AM »
Whenever you search a zone that is not public knowledge, you can fail to find and the game simply moves on. If you search a public knowledge zone, like the Ringside, then you can only fail to find if there's legitimately not a qualifying card to find, since your opponent can verify that there is something valid to find or not.

Rules Forum / Re: Maneuvers/cards from ringside Aces?
« on: December 02, 2019, 11:24:43 AM »
An effect is an Activated Card Effect if it A) comes from a card in your Ring, B) has a cost to activate it, and C) produces a discrete effect for that cost. If any of those letters are missing, it's not an ACE. Card is not in your Ring (Ringside / RFG / opponent's Ring)? Not an ACE. Card has no cost ("when you successfully play a maneuver, draw a card")? Not an ACE.

BASH isn't technically a trait, but we hacked it on there because we wanted that functionality.

There is no difference between "maneuver with BASH in the title" and "BASH maneuver." You can search for Spinning Wrist Lock Hammerlock... of Doom as if it has BASH in the title when you have a maneuver with BASH in the title in your Ring.

No. The card would have to specifically make his cards WCW to do that. He just becomes a WCW Superstar for things that care about that.

Q6: You don't need a card in hand to reverse with Plan B. You'll bottom a card if you have one; if you don't, that effect just does nothing and you move on.

Everything else in this thread is correct. In future, though, please avoid doing these question megathreads, as they make the Rules Forum harder to search for other users. Make each question its own thread, thank you.

Rules Forum / Re: Rules question for "Can U Believe the Witte Retort?"
« on: November 26, 2019, 12:38:47 PM »
I've excised the pointless rabbit trail from this thread so it can focus on the correct answer: Witte Retort doesn't change the fact that cards were discarded.

Rules Forum / Re: Another TTP Question

Correct. If you want to play cards after Irish Whip with The Total Package, then you have to actually play Irish Whip.

NWA Powerrr is what got me back into watching wrestling in a way that AEW hasn't. Definitely give it a watch.

(The two superfluous Rs in the name Are really dumb, though.)

Rules Forum / Re: I Won't Be Denied Question
« on: October 16, 2019, 05:58:37 PM »
Yes, you are allowed to use multiple triggered effects that share a trigger.

You're both correct; I've fixed the post above so no one gets confused.

All right, I've had some time to sit and ruminate on this one. The crux of this issue is that we don't have an ironclad definition of what "activating a card effect" is in this context. Activating a card effect is when you choose to pay some sort of cost to get some sort of effect. Feathered Boa and Titus' Whistle clearly fall in this camp: you choose to hide the card (cost) and then blank the thing (effect). Divine Intervention clearly doesn't; there's no cost, you just stick DI under your deck.

To me, Breaking Ground is activating a card effect. You're sticking it in your Ring to get an effect (ending the turn after damage is applied). The fact that it's using disjointed wording doesn't circumvent that.

Here's the second and last non-Specific card found in this set. This is a bit of a sendoff for Creed's time as lead developer for Virtual. There wouldn't be any of these expansions if it wasn't for the work he did.

12 Years of Dedication
Mid-match Action + Action
When you have 7 or more cards in hand, you may discard your hand and your opponent cannot respond to this card.
Put 2 Backlash deck cards from your Ringside into your Backlash deck.
If you discarded your hand, Ringside Search 2 non-Superstar-specific Virtual card.
F: 12     D: 0     Unique     Multi     Permanent     RMS logo

Stayed tuned tonight around 6pm eastern. I'm aiming to do a LIVESTREAM on to reveal another Superstar.

The wording is weird here. Should it read: “If you discarded your hand, search your ringside for 2 virtual cards”?

The wording is different because Search wasn't a keyword before.

"Location Search #" means "search (Location) for # cards, reveal them, put them into your hand, and shuffle (Location)." If the number is followed by a constraint, then the cards that you search for must obey that constraint.

Rule of thumb: when you see "and then" in the text of an ACE, everything before it is a cost and everything after it is the effect.

Rarity can only be determined by Comic Images via booster packs. As Virtual is not produced by Comic Images and does not appear in booster packs, no Virtual cards have rarities unless they specifically give themselves one via text.

(None currently do.)

Definitions of # aren't part of a Superstar Ability. That holds true for anyone with an # in their Starting Hand Size or Superstar Value, not just Edge.

Yes, your opponent would choose double # random cards and then you decide if they're discarded or shuffled back.

Mind Games: You get to purge the opponent's Arsenal of both cards that got discarded.

Throw Down: You can choose any number, but you don't know what numbers are legal to choose... except for 0, so you have to pick that. Nothing happens.

My favourite superhero makes an important distinction that I'm going to hammer on again: reversing an ACE does NOT automatically kick the card that generated that ACE out of the Ring. The reversal to the ACE has to specifically say that it moves the card for that to happen, like Don't Try This at Home does.

Rules Forum / Re: Dude Love question

Dude Love was written before the "pack" rules term. If Dude Love was written today, he'd say, "You can pack up to 3 Mankind and up to 3 Cactus Jack Superstar cards in your Arsenal."

Virtual Raw Deal / Re: Applied and Resolved
« on: August 04, 2019, 10:45:20 PM »
Right, okay. We worded it that way because it needed to be clear that the whole situation, including the damage from the reversal to Sami's card, needed to be over and done with before you Promo.

Virtual Raw Deal / Re: Applied and Resolved
« on: August 04, 2019, 03:26:51 PM »
It's a no, because blanking the damage means that it's not a 1D+ card anymore.

In general, the difference between "damage has been applied" and "card has resolved" is that the latter waits until everything else is done and the card's Timing Sequence is completely over, whereas the former applies during step 9c or 9d, depending on whose it is. I'm struggling to think of anywhere where we actually ask you to wait until the card is done resolving, though.
