Deck Reviews - Virtual / Re: 8th Wonder of the World / Back to Basics
« on: June 14, 2019, 06:24:27 AM »
8th Wonder, despite losing Giant Eiffel Tower, is a pretty good B2B deck in theory since he can protect his hand more easily from hand nukes.

Some initial tips I can offer:

1) You NEED 3 x Manager Interferes.  Like, must have, no question.
2) You NEED at least 2 x Don't Try This At Home.  Again, no question, as there's too many ACE's that devastate you in the world to go without protection.
3) Have you considered the backstage card Legendary Defense?  As a legend, you get the ability to pack that, and it gives you back 6 spots to put other cards into the deck.
4) Your Backlash deck is short cards - in the Virtual era, the Backlash deck may contain 12 Pre-Match cards and 12 Mid-Match cards, and you may play 6 of each.  Your current outline only has 10 Pre Match and 10 Mid-Match.  My suggestions for you to look at with regards to the two extra cards:
-Pre-Match: A Foundation of Old School Wrestling and Old School Beating #3
-Mid-Match: Restricted Use In This Area and Old School Raw.
5) I would also seriously consider replacing Save Da Drama... for Turning Everything Upside Down or You're As Graceful As A Cow On Ice.  With the reversals you have access to in the deck, it'll be rare that you are hit with two high risks in the same turn (unless of course Eddie is involved).  However, either of the two cards mentioned not only stop the second High Risk but also can stop waves of actions.

Beyond that, it's a matter of practice and seeing what cards work in your local scene.  You may find Hold the Phone useful - maybe you need a Lift a Boot in case Shane O' Mac is running wild.  Maybe some B2B moves are better than others and you'd like to make space for other cards in your Arsenal.  That will come with more practice and playing games to see what you like better.

Thanks for the feedback. I will have to look into doing those changes. I did not realize the pre and mid match got bumped up. A friend of mine taught me with the 20 card backlash format.

Is there a reason you decided to do Back to Basics? he's much more useful using multi maneuvers due to his pre-match card.

Well I've only been playing a short while and recently discovered Back to Basics. So I thought 8th Wonder would be good first try. There are probably better wrestlers to use.

Rules Forum / Question on ¡Olé!
« on: April 16, 2019, 10:32:05 AM »
Does it matter if  ¡Olé! is played from hand or overturned from arsenal?

¡Olé!
Reversal: Special: Face
Cannot be packed by The Home Team.
Can only be played after your opponent successfully plays a non-unique non-Superstar Specific maneuver.
Blank that maneuver's text and damage for the rest of the turn, discard 1 card, shuffle up to 7 cards from your Ringside into your Arsenal, and he continues his turn.

Generally, you can't shuffle back your prematch and midmatch cards into your arsenal.

There are cards that put your mid match from ringside pile back into your backlash like The Coach Says,"Today's the Day"

Okay, thanks, that is what I was thinking but was unsure.

Rules Forum / Question on backlash deck cards in ringside pile
« on: April 13, 2019, 06:30:14 AM »
My knowledge of using backlash decks is not the strongest and I had a question about pre-match cards that are put into my ringside pile. For background, I am working on building a Back to Basics deck using 8th Wonder of the World.

In my pre-match, I have Old School Antics and Old School Beating. (Full card text info is at the bottom of the post)

In the text for both cards it says, "...during your turn you may put this card into your Ringside pile..."

So if either of these cards are put into my ringside pile and I play a card that places cards from my ringside pile into my arsenal, such as Candice: Internet Icon or Ready to Fight, can the pre-match cards be shuffled back into my arsenal and replayed?

I would assume not since the pre-match phrase was over. But if that is the case, do they just sit in the ringside pile all game untouched?

Also what if I had a mid-match cards in my ringside pile instead of the pre-match cards? Can those be reshuffled in?

Thanks.

Old School Antics

Pre-match Event

The maximum number of Pre-match cards you may have in your Ring area is increased by 1.

When this card is in your Ring area, during your turn you may put this card into your Ringside pile and then shuffle up to 2 cards from your Ringside pile into your Arsenal.

Old School Beating

Pre-match Event: Heel

When this card is in your Ring area, your maneuvers are +1D and during your turn you may put this card into your Ringside pile and if your next card played this turn is a maneuver, it is +3D.

Candice: Internet Icon

Action: Run-in

Put up to 12 cards from your Ringside pile on the bottom of your Arsenal.

Ready to Fight

Mid-match Action: Chain

This card is -8F when your Fortitude Rating is less than your opponent’s Fortitude Rating.

Shuffle up to 5 cards from your Ringside pile into your Arsenal.

When this card is in your Ring area, during your turn you may put this card into your Ringside pile and then put 1 Maneuver card from your Ringside pile into your hand.

General Discussion: Raw Deal / Is there any chance of a mobile app version?
« on: February 25, 2019, 03:52:44 PM »
Has there been, or currently, any discussion of a mobile app version of Raw Deal?

8
Correct. The entirety of the card text is replaced with those three words in all zones; when the text is changed, all the card does is reverse any card.

Awesome, thanks!

9
When the 8th Wonder card changes the text on Obey to "Reverse any card.", it completely removes the entire text, correct? Like I am not able to make my opponent discard their hand or backlash, and the chain, heat and volley card restriction is not in effect as well? Just wanted to triple check.

Oh, thanks for the response. So just to make sure I got this right. If I was playing as Andre the Giant, I can only pack prematch and midmatch cards with the Andre logo correct? I wouldn't be able to pack Managed by Bobby the Brain Heenan with Andre, or does the "can only be packed by a legend" language allow this?

Correct. The game rule in question only applies to cards with a Superstar logo on them. Giant Eiffel Tower, The Heenan Family, The Heenan Family Enforcer, and Giant Choke Hold all have Andre's logo on them, and as a result, he may pack those specific cards.

(In Virtual All Axxess, he may also pack <R> The 8th Wonder of the World and <R> Obey, which also have his logo, and the <R> factions, which have superstar logos and specific text permitting any superstar to pack them.)

Managed by Bobby the Brain does not have a superstar logo printed on it, and as such, Andre's ability takes precedence, and he may not pack it.

8th Wonder may pack any Andre the Giant cards, except for We Face Each Other as God Intended, the Arsenal card titled The 8th Wonder of the World (as it is unique, and shares a card title with the superstar card), and any superstar-specifics that explicitly say "Can only be packed by Andre the Giant." As 8th Wonder does not have a general limitation on packing pre-match cards, he may pack Managed by Bobby the Brain.

Awesome, thanks for the help.

The thing you are missing is a game rule that overrides Andre's ability.

Quote from: OmniFAQ
-A card with a Superstar logo can be packed and played by a Superstar that can legally pack it, regardless of restrictions from the Ability.

This text means that Andre may pack Giant Eiffel Tower and The Heenan Family, despite his ability saying that he otherwise can't. Also, since the Revolution Faction cards say "You may pack this card regardless of Superstar," those specific Pre-Match cards may be packed by Andre in any format in which they are legal.

The "Can only be packed by Andre the Giant" text on Heenan Family Enforcer forbids 8th Wonder from packing it; he would otherwise be permitted to do so by the Andre logo.

Giant Eiffel Tower does not permit 8th Wonder to pack We Face Each Other as God Intended. That effect can only be triggered against Andre the Giant, who, as I mentioned before, may pack G.E.T. because it is a Superstar-specfic card he is legally entitled to pack.

Hi there, I was looking into making either an Andre the Giant or 8th Wonder of the World deck (maybe both), and I had a few of questions regarding them.

First, the card The Heenan Family Enforcer  (pre-match event) says, “Can only be packed by Andre the Giant.” Is it correct to assume that you can only use it with 8th Wonder correct? (Since Andre says no pre-match cards.)

Second, the 8th Wonder card says, ” You can pack Andre the Giant cards (except We Face Each Other as God Intended).”  But the card Giant Eiffel Tower  says, “When you hide We Face Each Other As God Intended, your opponent may remove this card from the game.”  So I guess I’m confused, can I pack We Face Each Other as God Intended with 8th Wonder or not? I would assume you cannot pack Giant Eiffel Tower with Andre since he cannot have prematch cards.

Am I missing something here, and is there a way to pack pre-match cards with Andre?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

General Discussion: Raw Deal / Andre's Giant Headbutt question
« on: April 07, 2018, 09:54:07 PM »
Hi there, I recently discovered this game and I am working on building an Andre deck. Can "Giant Head Butt" be reversed by cards that can completely reverse a multi  (example: Get the F Out) or does it need 3 reversals no matter what? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

Giant Head Butt
Strike + Strike + Strike
This card requires 3 reversals to be reversed, instead of 2.
When successfully played, randomly discard 1 card. If that card’s Fortitude is an odd number, your opponent may search his Arsenal for 1 card, put it in his hand, and shuffle his Arsenal; if that card’s Fortitude has an even number, you may search your Arsenal for 1 card, put it in your hand, and shuffle your Arsenal.
