Rules Forum / Re: French Phenom

Follow up: If I play a card like Kick that makes me put the top card into my ringside, do I get to choose which one to put into ringside?

Most of those wordings has been replaced with "overturn 1 card" and you can only overturn from your arsenal, hence, the card under french phenom is untouched. However, I am unsure if older cards like Road Dogg superstar's ability, Juke N Jive etc received the similar changes since it is still worded like premier wwe superstar with the "place topo # cards of arsenal" effect.

Rules Forum / Re: "After all player's Pre-match phases"
« on: June 15, 2020, 01:54:27 AM »
Whoever started the Pre-Match phase does theirs first, then the other player

Hogtrail is incorrect.

Quoted from Omnifaq:

-Certain effects take place before the first turn of the game, after all Pre-match phases have been resolved. If both players have effects that occur at this time, the player starting the first turn of the game resolves his effects first, then his opponent. EXAMPLE: Edge has Backstage Donnybrook in his Ring area, his opponent The Phenom has Armageddon Is Upon Us; since Edge automatically begins the first turn, Donnybrook will resolve first, then AIUU.

The draw 3 from Orlando isn’t mandatory, so it’s not a guaranteed 3 damage.
On the other hand, try working with sucker punch Tb if pump kick isn’t going your way, even if they reverse your Orlando ace, you still get a volley lock on them and throwing multi every turn is probably better than throwing single FO.

I really enjoy this deck in the 3 games I've played. Not sure how much fun it is for opponent once their hand is gone though…

None. New Dolph is not fun to play against haha

Old Dolph is even less fun to play against, absolute protection for smackdown maneuvers...

Anyway I think BASH has the props for at least being almost guaranteed 1 Oversell in your hand with Taunt You Bash You, and the fort curve is always welcomed to bridge in to his bigger specific stuffs like Superkick and DDT

You probably only need his superstar card to run a decent B2B Rey, Too Fast for You and Forever are there as bonus (and maybe old school lucha libre if you are running cheater). The rest of his maneuvers are negligible unless you really wish to make your money worth with the full set purchase.

A straightforward deck build would be running the B2B 0Fs (especially the maneuver/action hybrid) and start off with those actions to boost your hand, don't worry about volley this, you're going to bait all of them out anyway (explain later) and continue your turn regardless. Hopefully you are able to draw at least 1 copy of I Can't Be Read This Right to ease your pain of discarding for ability and since there aren't HiaC with B2B, you are safe there, after we got past the action phase of B2B, start throwing the 0Fs and repeat the above step to hit till it sticks, if you are cheater, you can continue your turn with your specific pre if they reverse from arsenal but that's providing they don't have an ACE reversal. Along the way with the maneuvers, start playing actions from Divas: The Next Generation (some of them replenish your hand as well) to complete your win con, and that's also part of the reason for the B2B actions to bait out any potential reversals from opponent.

Virtual Deck Reviews / Re: SGT Slaughter
« on: May 05, 2020, 04:59:53 AM »
Hello Senor~

I'm not going to provide an exact deck list as it would be more fun for you to build around it the style you want. So I'm just sharing some points where I find is a problem with Slaughter:

1) Lacking of hand/drawing power; getting that fortitude from a easy Cobra Clutch TB may be sweet, following that with a chance at throwing a protected German Suplex TB may be even sweeter, but all those cards yield no stun value, resulting in the eventual declination of your hand (esp with Revo TB not being able to draw). Furthermore, if you don't even have a comfortable hand size to begin with, it is very unlikely you can get the counter for a protected German TB. In this case, Evening Up the Odds may be your MVP Pre for granting that extra draw.

2) Very packed and clunky superstar specifics pre; when there are so much superstar specifics pre (I mean you do want to play turncoat right?), the best belt would have to be the Undisputed TB belt, you can run Bitter Rivals to ensure that you are able to play it first before your opponent (as well as playing The Champ is Here first), but this is far from a fool proof plan as a higher ss value superstar may just drop his own Bitter Rivals/Product Endorsement TB before you do, so although you can run it, don't over rely on it.

3) Bridging the fortitude; although you shouldn't have much problem gaining the initial 6F (thanks to Cobra Clutch TB once again), the problem now is how do you grow even more? *echoes of German Suplex & chain TB moves heard in the background* As much as those may help in the bridging, the very negative backlash from point 1 makes it hard to pull off (small hand and Evening up the Odds usually don't work well in chain decks). In this case, I would suggest another form of aggression, instead of protected maneuvers (German TB), go with penalty maneuvers; and since Chain is not best combined with Evening up the Odds, I would suggest throwing penalty moves like Shoot Punch TB (opens Shoot Counter too) or a Sucker Punch TB if you find them heavy with the blue waves. Of course you can still go with Camel Clutch TB and hitting till it sticks, so what I have provided may be a situational back up (why not waste their Revos on penalized Shoot Punch TB and Your Reached with Sucker Punch TB right?)

4) Ending the game; so you have throw some good moves and get decent fortitude, its time to throw the big moves now! The most straightforward hard hitting maneuver you can find is definitely What A Maneuver TB which allow you to hit it till it sticks and once it lands, you are likely to get some good draw from the stun value and your fortitude is good for trying to Mania for the win.

5) Other contingency cards: Waist Lock TB may necessary help with blanking some key card from your opponent (e.g. Wrestlemania, HiaC) to ensure you are able to pilot your deck smoothly. Judo Choke TB is especially helpful if you run into a blue wave deck and can slowly watch them bleed. This next one might a bit tad risky but OSWM TB with Summerslam dual stipulations might force your opponent to attack and refrain from sponging your mostly stun valueless maneuvers and run into that big Powerslam TB/Spinebuster TB from you.

6) Checks & Counters to look out for: Your number one bane card of existence - Back Throw. This card can be your absolute downfall if you play a TB card at the wrong time, always be mindful of it and remove it as soon as you can with your Boot Camp Match (but also take note of 10th Ann shuffling it back again). Overly aggressive decks (usually with humongous handsize) may overrun you too, so I would more likely recommend you to go with Jimmy/Revos instead of Jimmy/Step/Escape (why Keith why?) or Legendary Defense. Aligning with overly aggressive deck, chain deck may give you a hard time too with the discards and you ACE-ing every turn, exposing to DTTAH is going to hurt you so much that it may justify running 3 x Ego Boost for consolation.

In conclusion, Slaughter is very good superstar to run but a difficult one to master. Balancing between dealing the punishment and adjusting to the situation is the key to win the game. Since he has a search engine ability, means he is less dependent on luck and a correct play at the correct time will very likely determine his victory.

p.s. Last bit of side note tip, using I'm Gonna Break You as a replacement for his Boot Camp Match second ACE allows you to ACE it again for another 10 more shuffle from the RFG!

Virtual Deck Reviews / Re: Moolah
« on: April 29, 2020, 02:43:38 AM »
1) You would probably need a belt if you're intending to play The Champ is Here

2) Leg Drag TB > Nerve Hold, having an answer against Precision Haymaker is more reliable than being able to reverse any straight up Grapple/Submission

3) Regarding the Precision Haymaker threat, maybe a Special Guest Ref? Opponent forcing you to draw 5 thins out 11% of your health

4) If you're not running Cheater, try Ole! It's good against maneuvers like Punch After Punch and might provide a clutch recovery, it gets -5F from Playing by the Rules TB as well.

5) Avoid compromising on staple Reversals, keep your DTTAH x 3 (or x2 at least if that is your local meta) and Once is Enough x 3, try squeezing in I've Got One Thing to Say About This to provide more "cannot be reversed" coverage

All in all, a volley Moolah is definitely a refreshing idea, but it seems like you're trying to do too much and might need to resort back to the girly moves/panic grab to gain early fortitude and bridge into Shoot Actions for bridging more fortitude and opening Shoot Counter, resulting in redundancy for the Volley aspects of the deck.

p.s. Try to see if your opponent is packing any Backslides and removed them when you can, since you probably wouldn't want to walk into one with your vulnerable volley strikes

Yeah, you pay the cost to activate effect. Don't worry about the permanent trait though, French Finesse is the one responsible for it for gaining that ACE.

Actually,replace Mania with QCR

Nah, Mania is more reliable as it doesn't require any prerequisite to play and most ppl pack pre that avoid Pinfall loss (Wrestlemania, Through All These Years etc) as compared to Count Out loss.

Virtual Deck Reviews / Re: my first draft on Lacey Evans
« on: March 24, 2020, 06:26:51 PM »
Apply Illegal Leverage works great after Girly Grab in Lacey Evans case too, the damage can be really decent after charging it up with Act Like a Lady and it might just escape the Elbow to the Face range (even though some players don't even bother to pack Elbow at all). All these reversal restrictions maneuvers piled together actually made her Trademark Finisher the easiest maneuver to reverse in the entire deck.

Something to note: try not to over focus on using the winning condition for her Trademark Finisher, 19 cards isn't a practical number to achieve (especially when majority of the games don't usually last for 37 turns or more)

Virtual Deck Reviews / Re: Razor Ramon - BASH
« on: March 10, 2020, 06:45:53 PM »
all he needs add is making your escape and he's fine for no escape :)

I find classic knee to the groin is a nice transition move, but tb German is better

BASH you till five and calvary might be better recovery options (though Candice give you more....but Hell Cell..... again....make your escape!)

Backlash over turning things upside down is an interesting choice.....

The problem with No Escape against his reversals isn't its reversal restriction, but the fact that most of his reversals hit non-uniques and there usually are minimal non-uniques in a No Escape deck.

« on: March 09, 2020, 08:28:32 PM »
Why Candice over Here Comes the Calvary? You're generally running multis and Calvary fits in well. Classic Knee to the Groin sticks out like a sore thumb with its fort/damage curve that doesn't contribute much to the multi/protected maneuver built in the set up. And surely with the amount of heel cards, running No Show is more justifiable over Don't Bash the Stars? I mean you can even swap it in as an exchange for No Show!

Rules Forum / Re: Critical Injury
« on: March 08, 2020, 06:35:53 PM »
Nope, you would be playing it after an unsuccessful 5D move dice

Technically, Critical Injury only states "played after a 5D or greater maneuver" without mentioning if successful or not.

One might argue that it is an old wording but there is another more recent example that comes from Finlay card:

Finlay's Diving Dropkick
Mid-match Strike + Strike
Can only be played after a played card.
Cannot be reversed from Backlash or by The Coach Says, "Today’s the Day".
F: 0     D: 6     Unique     Multi

Rules Forum / Re: Scorpion Deathlock
« on: January 15, 2020, 06:19:02 PM »
To be fair, basing solely on grammar/punctuation, your brother’s interpretation is correct but the intent of the card wasn’t meant to be that way.

To fix the Scorpion Death Lock text, it should be written as ‘reverse any Submission, or Trademark Finisher with “maintain” in the text’

A similar case I can think of is that people use to misinterpret Facebuster TB to be able to reverse any Set-up cards as well (there’s even a post on omnifaq to explain its intent), but the lack of a comma makes it worded as intended.

By the way is louiseville lip permanent? Card print permanent but tco strategy guide is not permanent. Please advice which is correct.

Would like to get an official confirmation on this too.

I have the most problems with Vickie Guerrero being that she has such a passive ability that you're not even sure if you want to build around it. We can definitely argue that she could pick an enforcer and build around it instead, but there doesn't seem to be much point as compared to building the enforced superstars themselves.

So far, her default game plan revolves around enforcing Freaking Hero and playing a straight up chain deck while drawing off reversals made chain by Excuse Me. And although it isn't bad, it's just meh

Virtual Raw Deal / Re: Virtual Holiday: Then, Now, Forever

Yes. Any deck whose ability is a ____ Superstar Ability is a Superstar. All the ones you mentioned, as well as Diva Superstars, Cruiserweight Superstars, Rookie Superstars, Legend Superstars, Throwback Superstars, and Stable Superstars, would be impacted by this card. Extremists are the primary exception, as their cards are printed with an Extremist Ability instead. The other exceptions I can identify at the moment are Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who has a Movie Star Ability, and The Sexy Beast, who has a Huge Rock Star Ability. Note that these cards similarly cannot be affected by things like White Wedding, as they do not have a Superstar Ability to switch.

For the same reason, are these extremist, movie star, huge rock star considered superstar of their respective gender for the "watch" cards played by other non-lacey decks (e.g. trish, torrie etc)?

Since intent is declared, does it wipe out potentiality rule from the other unintended effects?

E.g. choosing first effect of Everyone Wants to Watch Women Wrestle, will it be able to be reversed by cards that cause opponent to discard (don't hate the player)

Virtual Raw Deal / Re: Virtual Holiday: Then, Now, Forever
« on: December 19, 2019, 09:58:08 PM »

This will act similar to how Little She Devil resolves. When it's successful you choose which effect you're using and it will resolve to the appropriate area.

Everyone Wants to Watch Women Wrestle
Can only be packed by a Female Superstar.
When your opponent is a Male Superstar, search his Arsenal for 3 non-unique Maneuver cards, remove them from the game, and he shuffles his Arsenal.
When your opponent is a Female Superstar, this card is -1F, discard this card and your opponent discards 1 card.
Raw logo
F: 1 D: 0

My concern is that, since intent doesn't have to be declared until it is successfully played, can you play it at 0F but use the first effect instead?

How will Act like a Lady interact with cards like, Everybody Wants to Watch Women Wrestle? You are able to do both effects at 0F eh?

I don't think that is affected because her ability only affects 'Woman' and not 'Women'

Packed by a female superstar...

@Hogtrail, so little she devil mentioned an either/or, but those either/or alternatives are not presented in the male/female specific condition cards (e.g. everybody wants to watch women wrestle), so is this a new ruling passed down or something?

If strictly speaking for GMs, I like Paul Heyman best with his thick pile of backstage stipulations which I try to make use of each and single one (including falls count anywhere).

On another note I like Mystery Wrestler with the hidden ECW and nWo enforcers that jumps out when you drop your T-shirt.

Lastly for cheap thrills, Sheriff Austin playing an abundance of pre match with "draw seGMent" in the text to open as many enforcers as possible to build up for his Mid match winning card is fun too. p.s. his ability work so well with No Way Out TB to avoid opponent from spinning a reversal for its effect

You can pack both of them but you only have the opportunity to play 1 of it.
