Title: Best and worst world champion cards
Post by: CRASHER on July 11, 2019, 05:34:39 AM
This was a side discussion we were having last night and I'm kinda curious to see what other people thought of it:

What are the best and worst cards designed by world champs?
Are there any that are must packs?
Which ones have you looked at and never used?

My top 3 best ones would be:
D-Bag
Frankie Ho
Two Time

(Tech in a bottle would probably be next)

The worst is kinda hard, but I'd probably put my new gimmick on that list, the idea was great (it's probably more useful now, protect that ACE and all, but a 0F action? Yeah)

First of all is down the list, but that's because it got kicked in the balls as it needed to, but enough of my thoughts, have at it!

I’ve never packed Allentown or Don’t Be That Guy, so guess they’re the worst?

Douchebag, Outta Nowhere, and Frankie are mist packs in my Virtual decks.

It’s funny, when Frankie was released, it was pretty weak, now it’s very popular. The reverse seems to be true with others like Road To Victory and FTLOTG, which are rarely packed in my decks these days.

Far as I know, Canu was before they did the cards for World Champs.  Pretty sure he was on First of All as kind of a consolation "here's your card," but I can't confirm that.

I don't know what Chad made, but Polverino #2 is Desperate Struggle.

If you're asking about the state of the game now, Allentown and My New Gimmick are in a category all their own when it comes to unplayable/bad.  My New Gimmick doesn't do enough to justify the pack and Allentown is an All Axxess card in a world where AA has been devalued.  For those that slag Don't Be "That" Guy, it got MUCH better after the revision.

On the other side, D-Bag is the only true must pack, so by default is your winner.  But you can make a case for at least three or four others.

Some of them deserve special mention for being bombs in an era.  Example: Road to Victory changed EVERYTHING upon release, but over time its impact was less and less an issue since people trained themselves to build around it.

Funny story, I found that whenever Road to Victory was packed, I didn't use it.  But whenever it wasn't, inevitably I ran into something that made me wish it was.  Cut to ACMT 2017, Buddha played a non-Unique action, and I laugh and note this trivia bit, and brag that I finally get to play RtV for a change.

Nope, he's got the Spirit Squad Pre-match out, RtV is blank.  :D  Figures!

By the way, I asked Chad several times what he was interested in for a championship card idea, and he never got back to me. <shrug>
