Title: TCO's SECOND annual Lackey Open Invitational!
Post by: MrPeoplesTeam on August 07, 2015, 08:26:39 AM
IT HAS FINALLY RETURNED!

After the HUGE success of the last event and the massive demand for the 2nd one to be started ASAP, I am proud to announce that the 2nd annual TCO Lackey Open Invitational is finally here!

This is the official announcement of TCO's second ever Lackey program tournament that will run over a period of time. This event will feature some of the best players around today and has no limits on who you are, where your from, or what you will be playing. All that matters is that you have the lackey program and your down to play some games against some players you have never played before, or even wished you could play against, but just couldn't make the trip out!

THE DETAILS

The format will once again be Virtual Classic! I encourage everyone to bring their best and play your best! I also encourage, for the sake of the event and time, please do your best to avoid stall based superstars or cards like wrestle mania. if you NEED to use them then its fine!  :)

This event will run over the next few weeks (1 week per round) to give each matchup enough time to happen, contact your opponent and set up a good date to get your round done and then report back to me with results, if the match does not happen within the week span then (depending on how active 1 player is, and saying "listen I'm trying to play my game repeatedly but i have received no answer 100 times) Then it will result in a double count out loss, but we will get there when that time comes. The sooner each round finishes the faster we can start the next one. Depending on the number of participants we will cut to a Top 4, 6, or 8

I greatly encourage ANYONE who loves playing Raw Deal to download lackey, give it a try and join the fun, this event will be a great way to test your skills and learn a lot about the game we all know and love! I hope many of the great players of TCO, Even Creed and Daeva, consider joining the battle and become....

The winner of this event will be crowned the NEWWWWW TCO L.O.I CHAMPION!

Due to some complications with the last event with prize support i was not able to get prizes out to everyone, This time around I will have prize support but you must MAKE THE CUT in order to receive prizes from Raw Deals newest Tournament kit! I do apologize to the participants of the last event for that, thankfully it was a lot of fun regardless!

*** Notes for each game and round being played. Please people do not forget to Save your games. I wiuld save after each turn if you have to. Lackey drops all the time and we don't want a rage quit and then blaming it on lackey. If you have a saved game then you shouldnt have any issues.

Please keep in constant contact with your opponent. If your putting a vilient effort into getting the game done and your opponent isn't even answering messages. Then something can be done. There is no reason both of you deserve a double countout if one of you is trying, but remember if both of you do not get the game in, and niether of you cared enough to get it going, it will be an auto loss AND you will be disqualified from any prize support intended for this event. And i intend EVERYONE to get something! ****

PLEASE REMEMBER TO UPDATE YOUR RAW DEAL PLUGIN! EVERYONE MUST BE UP TO DATE

Sadly, the Chilean Top 6 Club won't be complete this tournament. My new job doesn't really leave me any free time to spend on Lackey.

Good luck to everyone tho.

Right, I'm going to go with Piper.

be warned, I have (as of now) not read through a single virtual card, so I have quite a task on my hands.

Going through some stuff on Lackey now to try and catch up.

I have a few questions though, and believe me I have trawled through all of the different forum sections and old pages looking for answers but can't seem to find any. Can someone clarify what the CURRENT rules are (which would apply for this tournament) regarding number of pre match, mid match, how many can be played, etc.

Also curious as to how Pre Match Corners and Storylines work in terms of when they are played in the pre match. I know CI introduced them but haven't played since GAB.

Finally, I see all sorts of traits like 'Classic WWF Logo', 'WCW' etc. What is the packing restriction on these/how do they work? Do they mean anything at all? Same goes for NWO.

Thanks!

Not sure if John P answered these for you, but here goes my crack on this:

1) In this tournament, you may pack up to 12 Pre-Match cards and 12 Mid-Match cards and you have 6 "slots" in your Ring to play Pre-Match cards (this is referred to on cards as Capacity) and 6 slots to play Mid-Match cards.  Anything that says "Your Pre-Match Capacity is +X" adds X number of Pre-Match slots to your total.  Anything that says "This card does not take up a Pre-Match slot in your Ring" does not take any slots at all, and can be dropped regardless of your capacity.

2) The Pre-Match phase goes like this:

Part 0 - Backstage reveal - everyone reveals simultaneously their Superstar card and the backstage cards they've chosen to reveal.  If any of the backstage cards have actions that say "Do this" like Piper's Backstage ("Search your Arsenal for 6 cards, and put them under this card") happen now.  A good classic example is Vince's Remember who Pays Your Salary, which allows him to search for Don't Cross The Boss upon reveal of the card.
Part 1 - Allegiance - each player may play one Pre-Match Allegiance card or pass, in Superstar Value order.  After each player plays or passes once, you move to:
Part 2 - Venue - each player may play one Pre-Match Venue or pass, in Superstar Value order.
Part 3 - Feud - Same as Venue with Pre-Match Feuds
Part 4 - Stipulation - Same as Venue phase with Pre-Match Stipulations
Part 5 - Manager - Same as Venue phase with Pre-Match Managers
Part 6 - Everything else - During this phase, you and your opponent alternate playing 1 Pre-Match card that is not an Allegiance, Venue, Feud, Stip, or Manager, or you may pass, in Superstar Value order.  This is where you'd play Events, PPV Events, Corners, Storylines, Objects, or anything else that isn't listed above this step.  The only game-rule to note here is that when you have a Pre-Match PPV Event in your Ring, you cannot play another one.  You continue like this until both players use up their slots, both players run out of Pre-Match cards to play, or both players pass.

That's Pre in a nutshell.

If there's a conflict between the rules above and a card, then general rule is that the card wins.

3) WCW, nWo, NXT, Classic WWF Logo and ECW, when they appear on anything but a Superstar card, are all traits of a card.  They only have game function when something refers to them, like, for example:

I Know Who Pays My Salary!
Pre-match Allegiance: WWE
When packing this card, you cannot pack nWo, ECW, or WCW cards.
When your opponent is an nWo, WCW or ECW Superstar, your Starting Hand Size and Superstar Value are +2.
ACE: When he is not Vince McMahon, once during each of your turns you may discard 2 cards and then you are considered to have lower Fortitiude when you play your next non-Antic card this turn.
F: 0     D: 0     Unique     Permanent     RMS logo

So when you have this card in your Backlash deck, you cannot have any cards with the nWo, WCW, or ECW trait anywhere in your Arsenal or Backlash deck.  Yes, that would include your Superstar specifics, so since Roddy Piper has 5 WCW cards, this is a bad card for him to put in his deck.

When they appear on a Superstar card, it's also a trait, but it's referred to differently.  You're referred to as a "WCW Superstar" if you have the WCW logo on your Superstar card.  So, let's take this as an example:
LANCE STORM
Starting Hand Size: 8     Superstar Value: 2
WCW/ECW Superstar Ability: When you have lower Fortitude, your non-Unique cards are -# Fortitude, where # is equal to half your opponent's Fortitude (rounded down).
Your Lance Storm-specific cards are also ECW and WCW cards, your The Darkness Before The Dawn is Unique, and your cards with 'Dawn' in the title are not Smackdown.

Lance Storm has both the WCW and ECW trait (and yes, you can have more than one trait).  So he would be called a WCW Superstar as well as an ECW Superstar.  So anything that refers to a WCW Superstar, like:

Halloween Havoc
Pre-match Pay-Per-View Event
Can only be played by a WCW Superstar.
This card does not take up a Pre-match slot in your Ring.
Your opponent draws 3 cards, and then you put the top card of your Arsenal face-down as a non-Unique D: 3 Strike played from hand, and he may attempt to reverse it as if it was your turn; if he does not, put the card under this card.  He discards 2 cards.
When there is a card under this card and you have no Pre-match cards of D:1+ in your Ring, your Fortitude Rating is +3F.
F: 0     D: 0     Unique     Permanent     RMS logo     WCW logo

Since Lance Storm is a WCW Superstar, he can play this card during his Pre-Match events phase.

*****

NOW, with all that said, let's put it together in a Piper-centric example and hopefully it becomes a little clearer.

You start the game against, say, The Iron Sheik.  He's a 4 Superstar Value, you're a 5 SSV, so you lead the Pre-match Phase.  During the Backstage reveal phase, you follow your backstage card and search for 6 cards, put them under the Backstage card, and shuffle your Arsenal.

In the Allegiance Phase, you play nWo T-Shirt (TB).  nWo T-Shirt says that your nWo Pre-Match cards don't take a Pre-Match slot in your ring.  Since the card itself has the nWo trait on it, that means it doesn't take a Pre-Match slot in your Ring.  You still have 6 Pre-Match "slots" left to use in your Ring.

In the Venue phase, we have our first exception.  Roddy Piper's Backstage card allows you to play a Pre-Match Manager in the Venue phase.  So instead of playing a Venue, you'll play Managed by Eric Bischoff (TB).  It takes a slot in your Ring, so you now have 5 left.  It also reduces your opponent's starting hand by 1 and increases your hand by 2 (since you have that nWo trait card in your Ring).

In the Feud phase, you play Back to Basics.  That card happens now, so you take the maneuvers out of your deck.  And the card takes a slot in your Ring, so you're down to 4 slots.

In the Stipulation Phase, you play Old School Wrestling Match (TB).  This takes a slot in your ring, so you're down to 3 - BUT, the text of Old School Wrestling Match TB kicks in, and it adds 3 to your Capacity (aka number of slots available).  This takes you back up to 6.

In the Manager phase, you play Old School Manager, which says that the maximum number of Pre-Match in your Ring is increased by 1.  This is the same as "Your Pre-Match Capacity is +1".  So you still have a total capacity of 6 Pre-Match cards.

Now we come to the events phase.  You have played 5 of the 12 Pre-Match you pack, so you have 7 left.  You can play everything in this phase in the order you want to, and you go first.  So you play the Throwback Piper's Pit first (which you can play in a Back to Basics setting because of its text), which is a Pre-Match Event.  You now have 5 slots left.

After The Sheik gets an event (IRAN #1!), you play Getting Some Old School Payback, which is a Pre-Match Storyline.  4 Slots left.

Sheik plays an event (Vince McMahon, GRA TB).  You play World Wrestling Federation World Heavyweight Title TB, (which you can play in a Back to Basics setting because of its text), a Pre-Match Object.  You have 3 slots left.

And it continues in this way.  For your last 3 slots, you'll play Old School Raw, Bagpipe Introductions, and pass instead of playing one more.  Sheik plays some Pre as well (he'll likely have about 10 to play too), and all the while when he plays a Pre, you tell him to "pass".  Once he's done playing Pre Match cards, he'll also Pass.  Once both you and he pass consecutively, you're done with the playing of Pre-Match cards - draw your hands and resolve as necessary.

I'm happy to answer any questions you have here if you'd prefer, but hopefully this helps.

How does survivor series work in a lackey format? Can you declare you have the survivor series version of a card?

How does survivor series work in a lackey format? Can you declare you have the survivor series version of a card?

Latching on to this qns, how would a printed foil card for million dollar belt works?
How would a printed text of a card works against The Raw Deal Revolution if there are cards printed in different editions with different amount of text? (E.g. Spit at Opponent)
Title: Re: TCO's SECOND annual Lackey Open Invitational!
Post by: KD8ESU on August 11, 2015, 02:15:46 PM
We most often assume the most recent print run.
Example:  if I use That Won't Make The Cut, I couldn't discard Manager Interferes since the most recent print run of it was in SS3.

That usually help Raw Deal Revolution since SS3 runs normally had more text.

The only exception is Million Dollar Title Belt: as long as a foil version was made, we allow it.

We're very lax on Lackey, it's normally not serious business on there.

This one of those things you have to fudge online.  Since there's no way to pack SS versions of things in Lackey, we just assume/announce before the game starts that all applicable cards (or those certain cards only) are SS for applicable items.

Foil cards are foil cards.  This one doesn't change. If it's not FOIL in real life, it doesn't work.  None of the Virtual cards are foil.

As for cards with differing amounts of text, we always go back to the MRP (Most Recent Printing) rule that we always have with Raw Deal.
Title: Re: TCO's SECOND annual Lackey Open Invitational!
Post by: DebuRaito on August 11, 2015, 10:46:41 PM
But for raw deal revolution:

The Raw Deal Revolution
-The card checks for four lines of printed card text only; text ‘added’ by other cards does not apply, nor does Most Recent Printing, errata, etc. Only thephysical lines of text on the card are relevant.
-Playing a hybrid card will not alter Revolution’s ability to reverse, as it checks for the printed lines of text.
-Flavor text, traits, card titles, and card type descriptions do not count towards the total number of lines, only the card text box is counted.

It's a little bit of a drawback if we are using mrp...

Thank you so much for the great post yesterday which explained everything very nicely and thoroughly! Great help.

Having read through everything it seems that Piper is essentially banned with all of the Shenanigans that are going on. There is no way of playing him with his original ability so no point really.

If it's ok I'll change to Leader of the Peeps. Hope you don't mind :)

Per Sources As his first order of business our NEW Raw Deal World Champion, Mr. Maadenman Chad Gropack, in true Pipe Bomb fassion, has decided to be our very FIRST....0-1 Drop.

Our reporter got a quote from our World Champ when we caught up with him to ask him why such a drastic decision

MaddennMan Chad Gropack: "The Guy who wins the masters in golf never plays the tournament after  ;)"

Sad to see him go.A force to be rekkoned with has left the building folks...

Niiickkkk wins this round by Pin and going forward Chad will be considered the "Bye" until there is someone else who drops out (but come on people lets not do that, thats no fun!)

An update on me.

As I've had a change in job and schedule, I will not be able to complete the first round match.  Running 12 hour days the past week killed my ability to get on

That, however, should not keep me away from playing going forth, the new job's busy time is starting to wind down and I have most Thursdays and every Friday off work (and Saturdays, but I am mostly busy then too).

With this being our 2nd drop out we do not need to have any byes going forward.

Ryan gets the pin

@BigPimpin- Thank you guys for getting it done

With only 2 hours remaining in the round i have 2 games going off. With KD8ESU being at work i know he wont be able to get the game done, as is Fezza.

With the amount of time MattHardy and Deburatio have put in trying to get the games done i will be forced to give each of them the win for this round, its only round 1 out of 5 so there are plenty of time to rebound from this

2 hours to go

Title: Re: TCO's SECOND annual Lackey Open Invitational!
Post by: MrPeoplesTeam on September 09, 2015, 05:28:26 AM
The computer doesn't auto change rounds and top because half the participants drop. Thats what screws everything up. The most i can do is "cut to a top 8 now" and the best 2 and 2 with stregth of schedule will make the top but technically with all those people still in we should have been playing another round
Title: Re: TCO's SECOND annual Lackey Open Invitational!

I say hang the computer and use three things, pens, paper and your brain.
Title: Re: TCO's SECOND annual Lackey Open Invitational!
Post by: MrPeoplesTeam on September 09, 2015, 10:37:31 AM
So after going through different scenarios on what to do. I have decided to "hang" the computer and iust go with the top 6 as is. If we were to cut to a top 8 right now there is no point differentials to determine the #7,#8 spot. And if we ran another round we would be left with potentially four to five 3-2 records, four 4-1 records and the 5-0. Leaving another point dofferential issue. So to make things run smoother. We will cut now and The rankings and match ups are on the main page. Good luck everyone!

LEAGUE RUNNER NOTE: *Going forward this is not going to work like our event did this time around. The first tournament we ran had a good turnout and not a single drop. Having 10 drops this time around not only ruins the fun, it gives out unearned victories and also completely screws up the pairings and brackets. This tournament situation is the perfect example of it. It isnt fair to those who actually played all 4 of there games, did go 2-2 or whatever else and won't get that shot at a 5th round while people who were given wins (maybe even two) make the cut because of drop outs like we had. Going forward when we run these events, of you truely don't believe you can take 1 hour a week to get a game done and don't think you can committ then please don't sign up. We want this tournament to not only run smooth, but fast and fun as well. Please be considerate to everyone else going forward. We want as many players as possible but the ones that know they can play.

Thank you- your tournament manager**

NOW GO GET THOSE GAMES DONE

I'm surprised that in this day and age, someone would claim that a particular way of building a deck is 'his' way. I've played fbi in multiple different ways, including 'yours' and I'll be honest: I've never heard of you before that.

Matt, please do post the decklist so that we, as a raw deal community, can share in this amazing decklist and idea that no one has ever seen/thought of before.
Title: Re: TCO's SECOND annual Lackey Open Invitational!

mrpeoplesteam was nice enough to put the tournament together. If he asks that a deck he provided another player to not be shared, we should respect that. When we signed up, it was never said that deck lists were mandatory after the tournament was over. No reason to put in small digs at a guy because he doesn't want something that he put together out for the world to see, if you are that curious. Hop on lackey and ask to play a game against him and if he'll use it against you.
Title: Re: TCO's SECOND annual Lackey Open Invitational!
Post by: MrPeoplesTeam on September 22, 2015, 08:19:18 AM
Thank you Seph, I appreciate that.

Yeah as a former Raw Deal World Champion, please by all means come on Lackey and i'll gladly play against you with it so you can compare it to all the other F.B.I's you have seen in the world because they are so OP like Andre they were played every week. I've played this game for 14 years in hundreds of events, i'm sorry if i say i never saw FBI really relevant till Virtual. Could be why they received such solid Virtual support

Matt asked me one day after we played a game against the FBI if he could please have the deck list, I gave it to him cause he is my friend, I found it funny he played it in my own tournament but its all good and I'm glad he enjoys playing it enough and i'm sure winning with it enough (like i do) that he wanted to win a tournament with it, but like I said I gave him the deck list because he's my friend who lives all the way in Singapore, I did not say yes to every single member of TCO esp since that particular deck is one of my favorite Go-To's for games and tournaments. That should at least be understandable and not a reason to throw jabs at

So for you who doesn't know me, Hi my name is John and i'm a former World Champion and one of the best Raw Deal players that play today, if you'd like to play a game please let me know, i'm always down to teach people a thing or two, and please don't forget to place your vote for the next Lackey event with V7, or if your too angry like it seems; Don't  ::) but if you're ready to play again, sign ups will be up soon after voting

Thanks
